A must! Our guides, Peter (captain) and Thor were great! We were able to see Puffins, a Minky Whale, dolphins, and a Bone Shark ( which I understand is rare). Even if we didn’t see any mammals, the ocean and landscapes were beautiful! Highly recommend this tour!

The boat being just 12 people makes it a much better way to get closer to the whales and dolphins. Excellent waterproof and warm weather gear provided as well.

Not much in the way of whales

We saw some dolphins and possibly a whale at distance. And a few porpoises at distance. Kind of disappointing for the cost and effort.

The operation is well run. The ride to the area with the wildlife was a bit rough but manageable. We only saw one whale but many, many dolphins.

Great tour! Saw quite a few minky whales. The guide was nice. I did take some motion sickness meds and wore motion sickness bands (bc I can be prone to it) and didn’t have a problem. Listen to what the guides say about how to sit and the best place to sit for your needs.

Crew was not friendly or helpful except guy checking everyone in. The boat ride was way too fast and incredibly rough. Driver wouldn’t slow down over big waves. If you don’t have back or neck issues, you probably will! The only whales seen was minky whales and the only thing you can see is their dorsal fin at a big distance. Way too expensive

I brought my 11 year old daughter (who is generally adventurous) with me. This was our first time on a RIB boat - I loved that it was a lot faster and the max of 12 people was definitely nice. The guide and captain were courteous, friendly and informative. It was about 50 degrees and sunny, but we were toasty warm in the snow suit, goggles and gloves they provided. We saw humpback and minke (sp?) whales, plus numerous puffins and other birds up close. It was a bumpier ride than a big boat, but we thought it was fun - a lot like riding a jet ski, only a lot smoother. I would absolutely do this trip again! My daughter also loved it; however, if your child doesn’t like roller coasters and other thrill-seeking rides, they may not like it.

Wales and dolphins

It was a great trip. We have seen white bec dolphins, back hump wales and another small wale (don’t remember the name). The dolphins were swiming next to our boat and where jumping along. It was beatifull.

Great experience! Saw lots of Minke whales, dolphins, puffins. Boat was a fun ride on top of seeing the animals. Definitely worth it and would choose this over a big packed boat that can’t get nearly as close!

Fast RIB whale watching trip

What a trip this was. Several sightings of humpback whales feeding in the area with a few breaches and side “waves”. Some getting up very close. Add in the multiple seabirds including Arctic terns and puffins made this a fantastic couple of hours. The speedboat driver and guide were brilliant.

All my daughter wanted to do while in Iceland was to see a puffin and this excursion provided such a great opportunity to do so! Oh, and we also saw humpback whaleS and 'stinky' minkes! The boat was comfortable (the seats had shock absorbers!) Our guide was knowledgeable and I always felt safe. Highly recommend! I also liked the size of the boat...As opposed to the larger ships where you might miss a whale if you're on the wrong side, we all had a full view of all the whales!

We had a humpback whale break the surface about four feet from our boat. Incredible! Our captain and guide worked exceptionally hard to find a whale. Wonderful experience.

Okay - but expensive for what we experienced

Customer service at check in was appalling - I asked where we should park and was told to “go ask the girls next door” - which was literally a different company - and guess what they helped me!! The guy at Katya was rude and dismissive to myself and my family. The guide was amazing! Totally different - friendly, kind, informative. The boat was definitely an experience! And fun too. Luckily I took a dramamine before boarding!! We saw barely a 2 whales in 2 hours. What we saw was several boats all racing to where the whales were last spotted. Not quite what we hoped for.
