    • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
    • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
    • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
    • This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

    This was a really enjoyable evening. Nyala, our host, was very friendly, engaging and knowledgable. We tried a wide selection of typical local foods and the meats were delicious. We felt very looked after and received lots of tips from Nyala for the rest of our stay in Rio. I’d recommend doing this towards the beginning of your stay as an introduction to Rio / Brazil.

    An amazing experience!!

    I've been on many food tours around the world and I have to say this tour is fantastic! Luis is an amazing guide - very enthusiastic, personable, knowledgeable, patient and most of all a fantastic chef! He explained all of the fruits, cheeses and Brazilian dishes and explained how to prepare them. He is also an amazing bartender, making the best Caipirinha that I ever had! After leaving the studio, we went to a juice bar and sampled many fresh juices, followed by a visit to a local boteco for cold beer, caipirinhas and snacks. Was a really fun and educational experience that I highly recommend!!

    Our hostesses were warm and inviting. They explained the regions of the food. We had a wonderful conversation with the hostess and other guests regarding food and culture. Just when we thought the tour we over we had a short walk went to a juice bar and then another short walk where we continued to sample some local delights. I was a wonderful evening and we walked away full and happy. A great tour.

    Hi Rose, thanks for participating and thanks for your feedback of our tasting tour. Like we stated in our listing, we first go to our studio to do 90 minutes of tasting of Brazilian food products that you don't find on the street. These would be supermarket food products, fruits, some rare but delicious types of meats, exotic Brazilian fruit liqueurs, and we also sample some incredible cheeses and unique vegetables. You can't find any of these visiting street food establishments, that's why we do the half of the tasting in our studio. We also teach our participants to make caipirinhas. During the second half of our 3-hour tasting experience we visit three different types of food establishments: a Brazilian juice bar, a Brazilian Bakery, and a "botequim" (Brazilian bar), where we try the best from each place. I understand that you might have been to other Street Food Tours in other cities that promise a large quantity of places to visit. When it comes to tourism it's never a good idea to compare, but our proposal is for our participants to get to try the most interesting food products that Brazil has and that can't be easily found outside Brazil. We do have a tour that is a "guided dinner at a churrascaria", that is also a great option for those who want and all out dinner, with lots of drinks, steaks, side dishes, and a guide that can help contextualize and explain everything that you're trying. Sorry for this long explanation but it really breaks out heart when we cant enchant 100% of our customers. We hope that some of the 33+ foods and drinks that you tried made an impression on you, and we hope you look for them in the future. Cheers! Cristiano

    Erika is such a nice person, when she talk to us, it seems we have known for each other for a long time. She gave us the idea of what Brazilian street food is, from all the ingredient to tasting street drinks and bar foods which my husband enjoyed so much.

    This experience was so amazing !! We had to make a last minute change due to a conflict and they were so accommodating!! Initially we the cooking class booked but I’m glad we did this tasting class instead . Great host ! Food was amazing and after we went to a bar and it was sooo much good conversation! I would definitely recommend! This is a must do !! You will not regret it . Pay attention to the numbers on the wall and it’s on the second floor. It was our first time in Brazil and had to ask for directions everyone was so nice !!

    February 2024 - Anybody visiting Rio, I would recommend this food tasting! Alex was a great, knowledgeable and fun host. When your traveling food is an essential part of the journey, it connects you with the culture and introduces you to new foods and drinks. The beauty of the food in Brazil is that there is something for everybody with an influence of many lands.

    Nice idea but rushed and could use variety

    Poor communication about mtg place. Initial food samples & drinks were fabulous but then we had too much of the same fried meat/cheese/bread things. Felt rushed to move on. Should have informed us of drinks being offered as part of package before we paid extra. Alex our host was nice.

    Hi Matthew, thanks for taking the time to review our food tasting experience! We are sorry you feel some things didn't work out so well, so please allow me to explain: 1) We notify all our participants via Whatsapp of the correct meeting point. Yesterday I notified you and you even saw the message 5 hours before the class... I was under the impression you had understood the message. You were 15mins late, but our guide filled you in and served you everything you had missed during that time. No harm done, I believe. 2) As for paying for items not included in the tour: Our guide Alex explained three times that the all items he offers are included in this tour package, and that you could order extra items at the bar at your own expense. We cant include everything our participants see and want, as much as we would love to... so yes, you were charged for the beer you ordered at the end. 3) As for the variety of Brazilian food, we don't repeat anything, specially as there is lots to cover: meats, drinks, side dishes, snacks, candies, fruits, juices, licors, bakery items and street foods and bar foods. Yesterday Alex showed 39 items (he gets excited and goes overboard!) We hope you get to enjoy, re-eat and even bring back some of the items you discovered yesterday.     What a fun night! Delicious wines, engaging conversation and amazing food. The hosts were so knowledgeable, warm and interesting to talk with throughout the event. We learned about the tradition of churrascaria, different wines and overall what it is like living in Brazil. Having a local host really elevated the experience from just a dinner to an experience to remember. Highly recommended!

    The best night of our entire trip by far! I cannot say enough positive things about this experience. Chris and Nyala are the perfect hosts! A group of 10 of us (friends/colleagues) ate, drank, and laughed for over 4 hours! Chris has created a unique Rio experience that is the perfect blend of culinary information, gastronomic delight, and warm hospitality. He is very flexible in his approach to this experience so just let him know your preferences for the evening - he aims to please! We would do this again for sure!!

    The Brazilian dinner was an absolute blast, and the food guide was the friendliest! They welcomed us like old pals, sharing delightful stories about each dish. The meats and fish were unique cuts we dont get in the US, and the guide's wine and cocktail pairings were spot on. Their passion for Brazilian cuisine was contagious, making the whole experience warm and inviting. It felt like dining with friends. Impeccable service, scrumptious food, and a heartwarming atmosphere—truly a must-try for those seeking a friendly and fantastic dining adventure.     Incredible food and drinks guided by Cristiano, who, apart from being lots of fun to spend an evening with, managed to keep food and drinks flowing at the right time. Best steak I have ever had in my life! This tour is ideal for those who want to explore Brazilian food and South American wines on a different level. Highly recommend it.
