Had a great time. I came a little later in the tour but still had a great time. We went to maybe 4 bars and ended up all hanging out at another club after. The guides were extremely nice and attentive. They answered all of our questions and gave us some banana liqueur that was really good. I would actually do this experience again when I visit

Fun & Safe Tour, Would recommend

Fun organized pub crawl! My husband and I had a fun night. We started at a chic rooftop bar downtown, then a fun live music bar with a small dance floor, then hit a club with another band. The bar was absolutely packed for a Tuesday night. I would have a hard time doing this tour as a single person. I think the organizer should have done a better job facilitating introductions and who does/doesn't speak English. A quick Samba lesson would have helped kick off the night as well. Small suggestions, overall fun (and safe) night! Other tips: 1. Make sure you have a pic of your passport/ID for getting into some bars 2. Avoid carrying a pursue 3. Plan to pay by credit card

Feeling crawled all over in Lapa

I have never paid for a tour before and then been left stranded. The Rio de Janeiro Pub Crawl in the Lapa District is a complete rip off. I booked the tour for last night several weeks ago. It was to meet at the Colorinho do Samba, Rua do Rezende 53 in Centro R de J at 9pm. I downloaded the electronic ticket 3 days ago and the ticket showed the same address. I get to the bar an hour early and began talking with the wait staff, I speak Portuguese. I learned from them that the guy who leads the tour used to use their place as the meet up place but stopped coming by about three months ago. I called the number in the tour literature twice and no one answered. I waited a half hour and tried again and no answered. The only thing the wait staff could suggest is that I go to the end point and at least I might catch the end of the tour. I have not been able to reach anyone at Viator to register my complaint. In case anyone at Visitor reads this, and cares, my booking Ref is BR-1043565649. I’ve never left a complaint like this before but, come on guys, do a better job of selecting your guides. FUN NIGHT IN LAPA

Lapa is so live. Our tour guide Andressa was awesome, she was full of energy just what we needed. So they bring all the people all together to socialize and take you to 3 bars/club. Technically you can do it on your own, but since we didn’t speak any Portuguese and it was late. I wanted to be with other travelers who also don’t know what they’re doing lol It was definitely a good way to meet people from all over the world, that was cool. The meeting point need to be more in detail in my opinion. Very easy to get lost since there’s so many people. Also make sure you bring an ID Or take a picture of it. You’ll need it.

good but way too many people...there were like 30 or more so the atmosphere is not so intimate. Most are not even drinking anything or just water. The guide is nice but does not interact with the people ...just brings you to the pub and that is it.

One of the highlights of my trip to Rio!

A very well organized tour! The guys from FreeWalkers easily handled a big group of diverse ppl from around the world. They cheerfully lead us all the way through the Lapa nightlife - a vivid, colorful, fun and sometimes dodgy area of the town. We had four apprx 1 hour stops at bars and clubs that night, the music was latina predominantly, with a special focus on samba and I even learned a couple of movements. Caco, one of the guides, offered shots of different types of cacacha quite frequently so we all could maintain our energy through the night :) Overall, it was a lot of fun and felt like a relaxed easy-going atmosphere surrounding us. In the end, Andressa helped me call Uber and i was hassle free and safely delivered to my hotel))

Must Do Again

I can honestly say this was probably my best night in Brazil. Dance the night away with great guides Kako and Andressa. They have shown us a way to loosen up a bit. The choices of the pubs along with live music was excellent. When I come back I would do this tour again but only with them. They was one word Awesome!

Could have been great tour, but not during Carnival.

I just would not recommend this tour during Carnival, any other time it would have been great. Going from bar to bar was like moving through a mob of people. We got lost from our group because of so many people. Someone had to come back and get us. Then trying to get back to our hotel in a cab was the worst experience of my life. The taxi couldn't move for the mobs of people. When he tried to move. the people were pounding the cab. He got out and started to argue with them. I was praying the whole time. We finally got to an intersection to turn off the main road. If not for Carnival I thing it would have been a great tour.

A very nice tour

We had a fantastic time on this tour. We did it on the night before the election and right as Flamengo was winning the copa libertadores, so the city of Rio was particularly alive that night. We visited the aquaduct for some games and Cachaça drinks. Everyone in our group was nice and the two guides were great. We then visited a few clubs in the Lapa area. Overall a great value and A+ experience.
