What To Expect

Find your way to Rome's famous Colosseum at 9:30am to meet your guide and small group of just 6 participants. 

Breeze past the often-long entrance lines and proceed directly into the Colosseum. Explore the first two rings of the arena while you listen to stories of Caesar, gladiators, games, and entertainment. Learn about the architecture and engineering of the arena, then don your glasses to view what it must have been like on the arena level and on Caesar's balcony. 

Continue on to Palatine Hill, climbing as you hear about the origins of ancient Rome, including Livia and the House of Augustus. Get a view of the valley between the Palatine Hill and the Aventine Hill where Circus Maximus used to be, then don your glasses to see the reconstruction of Circus Maximus. 

Descend into the valley to visit the Roman Forum, where you'll see the Arch of Titus, the Basilica of Maxentius, and the Temple of Antonino and Faustina. Once you reach the main square, you'll learn about the Temple of Julius Caesar, the Arch of Septimius Severus, the Rostra, the Basilica Aemilia, and the Temple of Jupiter atop Capitoline Hill. Your guide will fill you in on the history and architecture of the important structures.

  • The colosseum currently guarantees special access to the arena floor which is off limits to the general public. The arena area is where the gladiator fights took place and also gives you the closest view of the underground area possible
  • Please provide the full names of all travelers when booking. Failure to present a voucher with all travelers' full names at the ticket office prior to entry may result in denied entry to the Colosseum and Roman Forum.
  • Each traveler must present a valid passport or ID document that matches the name provided at the time of booking for successful entry to the Colosseum and Roman Forum.
  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 6 travelers

An amazing time

What a memorable time we had with Davide! He was extremely knowledgable and elaborated on a myriad of details I felt many others wouldn't have touched on. By the end of the tour, my mother and I felt like we had a lot of the history down pack - so much so, when we were asked Rome trivia questions later in our trip, we knew the majority of them from our tour with Davide. Absolutely can't miss! Would highly recommend to any and everyone.

I had a really good time and saw some amazing sights. My tour guide Ellna was great. I would highly recommend the small group tour over a larger tour, just makes it easier to get around and learn more about the area.

Rita was a wonderful tour guide! The crowds were surprisingly thick in April, so having a guide was priceless. There were 6 people in total on our tour. We were able to quickly speed through all the lines with Rita, and we definitely felt sorry for everyone else waiting endlessly in the sun. The history is fascinating & will inspire you to research more later… Highly recommend & worth every penny!

Had a great experience visiting the Roman ruins, the Palantine Hill and the Colosseum. Francesco was an excellent guide. Really funny and tells a good story to bring the history to life.
Nice Tour but Didn't Deliver Promised Atteactions

Paola did a very nice job but we were very disappointed that she did not take us to the Palatine Hill. We had booked this tour specifically because it included the Colosseum, Roman Forum AND Palatine Hill. We purposefully chose (and paid extra for) a longer, more expensive tour for this reason.

0 stars if I could give. They canceled tour and I learned about it when I came to the meeting point. Apparently they allow to over book and cancel on you. I would avoid this tour.

Barbara was an excellent guide. She had a formal background in archaeology which provided fun details that I’m not sure we would have heard with someone less knowledgeable. We went on 3 different tours in Rome with 3 different companies. This was our favorite out of them!

So glad we booked a small group tour! Dario was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and a little theatrical so his delivery was capturing. He answered any questions we had and offered to take pictures when we wished. What a great experience! Lastly…I felt like a celebrity getting to skip the line that wrapped around the outside of the colosseum. That alone was worth the price.

Dennis was an outstanding guide. He was very informative, knowledgeable, and entertaining. He asked our daughter questions to keep her engaged. He even suggested the best coffee and ice cream we had in Rome. We would definitely choose him again. We wish we had him for all our tours in Rome.

Worth every penny

Worth the money! Stefania our guide was knowledgeable, we had fun, it was not a rushed tour. Enough information and time to just enjoy being at the colosseum. Our guide gave us time to take pictures, offered to take pictures, and was great at answering questions. I toured the colosseum a few months ago in a larger group and this small group tour was 10 times better.
