Disappointed

The tour did not start out on a good foot. We were to meet at 1:45 for a 2pm tour. No one was there and I noticed an email that the guide would be late and starting at 2:20 instead. By 2:30 she still had not arrived. 2:40pm she showed up with no apology or explanation to why there was a delay. Once Esther arrived, the tour started and she was quite knowledgeable about the Forum and Colosseum. We also thought our tour included the lower level of the Colosseum, but she stated it was not part of this tour. I would suggest the tour, but hesitate to give them high marks due to their lack of communication and lateness

The guide was so interesting and knowledgeable .. made the tour more exciting. We spent a lot of time in the Roman forum ruins and got entrance to coliseum floor which I think it important not many people here and you get a better prospective of the coliseum. If you don't get to enter coliseum floor you have to look down not up.

Our tour guide (I can't remember his name sorry) was extremely knowledgable! On time with great pace. We were lucky and it was a beautiful day. He gave us a lot of history and context that we would not have gotten on our own. Highly recommend having a guide to skip lines (albeit there was no lines when we went in December) Viewing platform at Palatine Hill was very cool.

We lucked out and got Marcelo again! What a superb guide. He is extremely versed in his history of Rome and very funny to boot. His real title should be Il Professore! We were so impressed by his ability as an educator and how he related to each person on the tour. Bravo!

Three Times A Charm!

This was my 3rd time being in the Colosseum - I guess what they say about 3 times a charm is true because this was awesome due to our guide! Vasco was an EXCELLENT guide. So many stories, easy to understand (English) and extremely knowledgeable about things you will never read about. Also, the tour agency provided photos to show you exactly where to meet - so helpful in ehe busy area. This all made the experience memorable and very enjoyable, especially for my fiancé who was seeing all of this for the first time.

The skip the line tickets alone were wroth the cost of the tour. We avoided a 3+ hour ticket line. Our tour guide, Frank, made the tour truly memorable. He's an anthropologist with encyclopedic knowledge of Roman history. He was ready to answer any question to whatever level of detail we wanted. It was like taking a tour with your favorite college professor. The small group format made it so much easier to listen and ask questions. We had a great time and learned a lot of surprising information about Roman History.

First I believe that your guide makes or breaks this experience. Our guide was unbelievable (Elona, I think, I was terribly jet lagged). We visited 4 establishments - not fancy but all with a story. All 3 restaurants with a focus on regional cuisine, sustainability, and an interest in unique wines. One restaurant served only local wines that were very good. Between venues we learned about the history of the neighborhood. At the final stop we learned about true gelato. Another bonus was the small group allowed people meet and several of us visited a recommended cantina after the tour to continue great conversation. Would recommend as great introduction to Rome.
