What To Expect

Meet your driver directly in Piazza del Popolo, conveniently located in Rome’s historic center. Set off by air-conditioned van to the countryside just outside of the city, taking in views of Lazio’s hills along the hour-long drive.

Once you arrive at the Cantina Castello di Torre in Pietra winery, join your sommelier guide for a tour of the medieval castle and hamlet that houses the cellars. Learn about the history of this 12th-century complex plus visit the winemaking areas and barrel rooms.

Afterwards, relax around the table at the winery’s own restaurant for a guided tasting lunch. Sample local cheese, cold cuts, and Roman specialties paired with three different wines. Enjoy a few minutes of free time to browse the winery shop for wine and olive oil (optional) before boarding the van for the return trip to Rome and drop-off in Piazza del Popolo.

I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rome. Its a great way to find out more about the local wine and local food, and discover some lovely little places that you might not otherwise go into. Delicious food and wine, very good value for money.

I did this last year and it was phenomenal and I had to come back and do it again - Christian makes this wine tour and pairing with food delightful. It’s a perfect four hour event gives you time to do other things while you’re in Rome.!

Our host was sommelier Christian, who provided the perfect balance between giving us information about the winery, including the processes and its history, and allowing us time to ourselves to enjoy the excellent food and wine. The wine was so very delicious and the food equally so. 10/10

Poor communication by operator, but finally a good experience at the winery

Hmmm...split on this. Tour company was late and was not reachable, even to Viator. Viator wasn't helpful - just kept texting to wait and that they could not reach the tour company. Eventually, driver showed up for only 3 of us. Never said a word. BUT, the location was wonderful, informative and the food was excellent. I would give the winery a 5/5 and the tour company a 1/5. Something better needs to happen here. Thankfully, the winery saved the operators butt in this instance and Viator was only slightly better.

Beautiful unique winery. The guide was very interesting and knowledgeable. The wine and food were great. It was refreshing to take a trip out of the city of Rome for an afternoon. My only suggestion is to update the trip time information. The excursion time stated a three hour tour but it was four and a half hours.

This trip was so fun. The hour ride there was easy, and wine tour guide was absolutely fantastic. He was very thorough in his explanations and helped all of understand each of the wines we were tasting and how they interactee with our food courses! And of course the winery itself was beautiful and we got some really cool pictures!

The presentation provided by the guild showed his knowledge and passion for the product. His provision of how the wine is stored, paired with food, and amount of time to let it breathe allowing greater enjoyment when consumed, really enhanced my ability to properly taste the wine as it was meant to be enjoyed. Nice, relaxed tour

Very educational and good food. The sommelier was great and provided us with an education of the wine during the tasting. But no one gave us information in the food. It would have been nice to have each dish introduced. Also surprisingly they did not try to sell us wine. It was nice though to have a more relaxing tour.

Nice Getaway From the City

I, along with my mom and my sister, had a wonderful time on this tour! The meeting place was centrally located and easy to find. It was a small group, less than 20, and the bus was comfortable and nicely air conditioned. The ancient winery was so cool and the lunch and wines were great. This was a nice departure from the busy Rome city center, and the beautiful countryside views were lovely. I highly recommend this tour!

The van ride was a little longer than expected at around 40 minutes, but well worth it. Christian, Sommelier and guide at vineyard, was amazing and so knowledgeable. The meal and pairings were spectacular, we had the best time!

Great and fun

My aunt is disabled and has a hard time walking. I tried to call to ask if it would be easy for her to get around. The viator people had no clue. So the answer is yes it is very easy for someone who has hard time walking to get around there. No steps great temperatures. The man who gave presentation was very informative

Wines were delicious and available for purchase, and shippable. to most US states. I didn't care for the risotto served. I would have been happy with bread, olive oil, olives along with the meats and cheese.

Beyond our Expectations

We didn't expect this tour to be such a first class experience. The large bus that took us just a short distance into the Roman countryside was very new and clean. We met some wonderful people on the trip, had a delicious lunch and learned a lot about winemaking. The wine itself is top-notch. Not worth the price paid

Venue was nice, wine tasting was nice, guide was informative but really was a damp squid. We felt trip was very expensive for a trip that really should have been half the price paid for what we got. After the lunch we were hanging about waiting on the guide for what eventually was a 10 minute talk in the vault. Not recommended!
