We thought the Roman Forum was great but wow the Palatine hill even better. Thoroughly enjoyed. Couldn't stop taking photos. We found loads of little places on the hill which had fewer tourists. Very interesting indeed.

Our guide (name forgotten but in photo attached) was excellent even in the hottest Rome day of 45*. She was very knowledgeable and passionate and kept a check on all participants in the heat, stopped in shade and for water fill ups, whilst battling on herself. Excellent English and kept the crew going! ❤️

Super disappointed Forum visit.

We purchased tickets for the guided tour of the forum and palantine hill. The tickets and info received from viator indicated a 2:20 tour but to be there 20 mins early, which we were. When we found the city walker there was no other group waiting for the same tour. The representative said they would try insert us in another tour that had left for the colosseum at 1 pm. My wife and I are both in our 60’s we were told to follow at a runs pace behind this young person through crowds for about 3/4 of a kilometre. When we arrived that person said we had run to the wrong place and had to run back to where we had come from. Finally we met up with a very tour guide who tried to rush us through the security access point to join his tour. Finally we met the rest of the tour but it was mostly over at that point. Very disappointed in Viator. We went with them because of their reputation. In this case it sounds like they were just looking to collect the payment.

Another waste of time and money.

David was our guide. Before we even met him, we went to the meeting point only to be offered a whisperer and told we could do the tour on our own. We paid for a guided tour. We were sent to David, he had a tour already in progress. We waited for him for over 30 minutes. When we were united with him, he expressed disappointment and annoyance with the facial expressions that we were being added to his group. In the forum, he took us to three stops and was detailed in information. After these stops, he said, It's too hot, the tour is over. Then he proceeded to ask if anyone wanted to go on his dinner tour that evening.

Inexcusable

I would give zero stars if possible. My family got lost, we couldn’t find the meeting point. No one attempted to contact us, the phone number we had on the app for them wasn’t working for some reason. By the time I found another customer service phone number it was too late. The representative offered to reschedule but we were leaving for Florence directly after our scheduled tour, so we couldn’t reschedule and asked for a refund of our $155. Viator refused our refund. We will NEVER book through them again!

Not the Best Tour We have Taken

Our tour guide was very boring. This may have been because he did these tours continuously during the day. Additionally, we had to wait for the guide at a different point than the advertised meeting point because this tour was the "back-end" of a colosseum tour. The tour was not at a leisurely pace although there were not heavy crowds. Was not really impressed with the tour, the time nor the hurrried pace of the walk, which was up a large hill.

Morning tour may have been better!

I thought the tour was excellent. The guide (Rado?) was knowledgeable and very entertaining. Having done a combined tour of the Colosseum and Forum before, we decided to opt for a tour of the Forum on its own. We joined the tour as they finished up in the Colosseum and entered the Forum. Straight away there was a short break. I think the tour was a bit short. I’d have preferred a longer, more detailed tour. We also timed it badly as we wanted to stay on in the Forum and explore it on our own but unfortunately it closed at 4:30. We ended up having to pay to go back another day! Maybe best to do this tour in the morning. I’d also prefer a stand alone tour but couldn’t find one!

To visit and see Roman Forum & Palatine Hill was great but I expected a bit more from the tour. I believe our tour guide was knowledgable and gave us good insights, however, because he was with the group in colosseum before we joined he was short with time. Also our tour started 30 min late so we lost time. I believe that 2 tours should not be combined.

There was very little information as to location of the office. We had to climb a large hill with me on a rollator. The tour was fine after we spent a great deal of time and stress locating the office to receive our tickets. There was very little line at the gate and we could have rented a audio guide there with less trouble and money. I used 3 different companies during the 9 day trip. Viator was the worst one for everything I booked. Not acceptable!!!!!

Good for skipping lines & having tickets settled

We did not purchase the upgrade to see the colosseum since we had booked a separate tour. We booked this tour mainly as a way to skip-the-line and have the ticket situation figured out for us, so for that purpose it worked well. However, I was hoping that we might have learned a bit more / the tour was really not long at all (less than an hour). We met with a representative at the meeting point as instructed and then were walked ~5min to another location where we met with the rest of the tour group who had just finished touring the colosseum. Our guide then led us to Palatine hill, where we had just enough time for a water break, bathroom run, and quick photo before we walked down to the forum, listened to our guide for ~5-10min, and then the tour ended. Thankfully it ends within the forum so my travel companions and I were able to explore the forum on our own after the tour. Depending on your situation, it might be more worthwhile to just purchase the tickets and go on your own, but if the price is right, going with an organized tour could work well, too.

Avoid day of visit lines!

We booked this tour to make the day of expeirence easier. The instructions as for where to find the place to exchange our booking for the actual ticket was a bit confusing, and we finally had to ask another guide from another company where to find them. We were unaware there were two levels to the train station and they were on the second level. Once we had our tickets, we had a challenge finding the entrance to the Forum and we accidentally went in through an exit we believe. The Forum and Palantine hill are definitely worth a visit, but if you are visiting in summer, go early in the morning, it gets quite hot by mid-day, and bring a refillable water bottle and refill it at the fountains when you see them. We opted for the skip the line only and that was perfect for us to allow us to explore at our own pace and see what was of interest to us. The Forum is right next to the Colloseum so it's easy to do all 3 attractions in the same day. We did not choose to go inside the Collosseum, and the views of it from Palantine Hill are amazing as are the views of the city. If you want to explore the Forum and Palantine hill without waiting in a long line the day of your visit, this skip the line ticket is a win.
