This was a highlight of our trip to Rome. The chef began the event with a walk through a great outdoor market and talked a bit about her approach--which was to cook with fresh ingredients in season sourced locally. We then went to a number of specialty shops to buy the cheese, prosciutto and veal for the meal we were to prepare. The class was very well organized and the chef spoke clearly about everything we were preparing--showing us how to make the 3 types of pasta and the vegetables, main dish and dessert. I love to cook, cook a lot, and am quite good. I learned a lot and noted that people with different skill levels were all helped to learn a bit more. and our meal was great! way too much food, but we all felt we had to eat it because it was so wonderful. I can recommend this very highly.

    Highlight of our trip!
    Lisa_L, Feb 2024
This was a great experience. We started with a tour of the outdoor market and a few small shops to buy ingredients. The kitchen space was spacious and comfortable. Our instructors were friendly and fun. We learned so much! I will definitely be making pasta at home. Overall, this was our favorite experience of our trip.
Chef luca and team were incredible

The chefs were great the space is unique and loved the visit to the market and walk to the kitchen space through town. Definitely feel like we will recreate some of the pasta dishes when we are back home. The whole day was lovely ending in a delicious multicourse lunch!
    Absolutely wonderful experience!
    Sarah_H, Apr 2023
I had an absolutely wonderful experience! The other participants didn’t show despite waiting 30 minutes for them so I got a private lesson. Luca was a wonderful teacher! And the food was delicious! I look forward to making pasta using what I learned.

Watching and listening to Victoria explain technique, for example how to add pasta water to thicken the sauce. Also, what steps are the most critical. It was also fun to learn how to roll the fusilli.

The entire experience was great! The group bonded well and really learned some techniques! The space was perfect and the brief history of the area was also appreciated!
    Did not learn anything
    Andrei_T, Jun 2022
Unfortunately not what we have expected, you will not learn much. The whole cooking we did was chopping some vegetables and mixing dough, no information was given about the cooking process, the quantities, or anything else. At the end we did not even get the recipes of what we „cooked“. The chef and Assistent we’re doing most of the cooking without much explanation of what was happening. If you really want to learn something, this is not the course, if you want cute activity to say you cooked pasta in Italy then is ok.
    Response from Host, Jun 2022
Dear Andrei, we are very sorry to read this and we apologize if you didn't like your experience or found it useful. We have to admit it comes a little bit as a surprise because our Cooking Lesson activity is always reviewed very well and our guests are enthusiastic about it. Of course it is subjective and we don't doubt your words. Let us conduct an internal audit or a closer scrutiny to know who was the chef in charge that day and what he/she has to say about it. We're sure you can give us another chance and we'll make it up to you. Best regards, Gray Line Rome Feedbacks Team
Excellent and well worth the cost of the event.

Chef Fabio Bongianni was a great character and Roy was very helpful. Kitchen is in such a unique part of Roma
Great food, not my favorite format
    Mackenzie_C, Oct 2021
Really incredible food with an exceptionally talented chef. A few things though for negatives that prevented a 5 star review. First the chef was pretty late and I didn’t get any notice from the company, second he really was on his phone for probably 45 minutes to 1 hour of the three hour experience, and lastly there was a lot of different dishes that we made so the cooking was a bit hectic. Since we made so much there was not much instruction, and instead a lot of “chef points and you do X” which is fine, but I would have preferred to make less and learn more.
    Absolutely wonderful!

Monica was our instructor and absolutely amazing! The location was a super unique and the class was super educational! We made so much food and left full and happy! Lots of hands on learning not just watching the chef. Monica made the great experience even better! Would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone!
    Fantastic

    Best part of Rome
    Randy_K, Oct 2019
The class was wonderful. First we went to the markets and shops to get vegetables , meat and cheese. Then we went back to a beautiful piazza that had a professional kitchen. We made 3 kinds of pasta, sauce. Soltimboca and tiramasu and we ate all of it
    Awesome experience

This was the height of our 4 days in Rome Monica the chef and her assistant were wonderful! So warm and friendly. First we shopped, then we cooked and then we ate what we cooked- do not eat breakfast before this!!!
    So much fun!

Had an amazing time shopping in the market, learning cooking techniques, making homemade pasta, and enjoying all 4 dishes we created in the beautiful garden. Thank you Marco and Nicoleta for a great experience!

This class was so much fun for everyone their weather you could cook or not. Nicoletta was great she and her helper went over everything . Were always by if you needed help or just didn't want to do it. I learned so much about making pasta and cooking in general. I had the best time in this class and the food we made was great much better then I make at home. I would serously recomend to do this class with her if you are in Rome. It was worth the time.
    Don’t bother
    Debbie_G, Sep 2019
When we signed up for the class it said a maximum of eight and we had 12 people in our class. It was so crowded and so many people that half the time we did not know what they were doing or how to do it You spend a lot of time standing around and really did not get to cook anything. There was not enough room at the Counter for everyone. I felt like they were just trying to maximize their profits and didn’t care at all about the quality of the class. Half the time we could not hear or see what they were doing and the people running it did not seem to care. I felt like it was all about making the most money possible they cramming us all in there. We had taken the same class two years earlier and it was outstanding. This time it was absolutely the worst and a waste of a day in room! I would never recommend this particular class to anyone. I’m quite sure 2/3 of the class was extremely unhappy with the entire experience. we spent most of her time standing around with nothing to do and even when we sat down to dinner they only had 11 places set so when poor person had to wait while they added an additional setting for them. I will say it again find a better class that cares about the experience not just making money!
    Cooking lesson in Rome!

Great experience! Lots of fun, great chefs, great food. One of the best parts of our trip! Worth every minute of it.
    An excellent experience
    Sonya_M, Jul 2019
What a fantastic way to experience Rome. Fortunately, yesterday, due to who knows what, we were a group of 3 only. Nicoleta and Roy taught us incredibly well and the food we produced together was of an exceptionally high stand. The wines were also brilliant. I would not hesitate to recommend this experience to anyone. I will certain sign up for another experience with Fabio's chefs on a return trip to Rome. I will be trying my hand at some of these dishes in a couple of days and hope they will be of the same standard. Thanks again to Nicoleta and Roy.
