What To Expect

Your day begins with pickup from your Fira hotel or by making your own way to the meetup point.

Your first stop is at the archaeological site of Akrotiri where a tour guide takes you around one of the Aegean’s best-preserved ancient settlements.

Your next stop is the village of Emporio where you take a walking tour through medieval alleys and past whitewashed, blue-domed Orthodox churches. Continue to Perissa where you have free time to have lunch (at your own expense), take a swim, or just relax.

Back in the air-conditioned vehicle, admire the medieval village of Pyrgos as you pass by, then stop for photos at the Monastery of Profitis Ilias, located on the island of Santorini’s highest peak.

After a visit to a local winery, continue to the village of Oia where you have free time to enjoy the sunset before returning to Fira.

During November & March Akrotiri Exchavation Site is not visited
For Cruise passengers when they off at the old port of Fira by the tender boat they take cable car and then they can walk to NST Experiences point(Fira Departure point) and they take our bus .

Maria was an amazing guide but it was very hard to hear her over everyone else talking on the bus. I believe the excursion could have been a little shorter spending more time at Therrisa beach and a few other sights instead of going all over the island. I’m mixed about this one. First the tour itself is a good one and of good value. However a few things the description doesn’t mention. First they do not pick you up at your hotel. We received an email the day before saying to be outside the hotel 10 minutes prior ( the tour started at 10:30) I received a call from the tour at 9:58 saying to come outside and up to the street to meet them and they would be waiting.our hotel was by the beach and about a quarter mile walk to the main road. We immediately walked up to the road but no one was there. At 10:08 I called back to make sure we were in the right place. She said the bus left as they waited 25 minutes for us to show up and we would need to reschedule. 1) no one communicated we were to be up at the top of the road at 9:30 am. This hotel is several miles from town and we had no way to get into town to meet them. 2) The woman was very adamant that she had proof she called me and told me to be up at the road. Yes- at 9:58. It took us about 5 minutes to walk up the road. No one was there. After a few back and forth calls of basically arguing, our hotel manager came by and actually spoke to her and he gave us a ride to meet them in town. 3) When I apologized to the driver that I didn’t know he was waiting for us for 25 minutes he said “no only 10”- when talking to the other passengers later I learned they only waited for us in town and no, they didn’t wait 25 minutes anywhere. We got to the bus in town at 10:40 and we left on the tour. 4) The bus also doesn’t actually drop you off at your hotel but it does drop you off BY your hotel. In our case this was about half a mile away from our road to the hotel. In the dark on a deserted road. So a few things to take away. First this is a big tour bus (we’ve always had van tours so I was not expecting a bus). Second, confirm the time of pick up by calling them! Nowhere in the description does it say what time they’ll pick you up and our confirmation email simply says “be read 10 minutes prior” - prior to what! Make sure you ask “where do you want me and at what time”. This will save a lot of stress. Also - i understand time schedules and this tour means it! When they say be back on the bus at X time be on the bus at X time because they left someone at the archeological site because he was 2 minutes late ( we went back to get him but still). The archeological site and tour guide was wonderful. There was no cable car ride so I’m not sure about that. If you are on free time and getting something to eat tell your wait staff you need to be back to the bus at X time. I paid $120 euros for a sunset dinner I didn’t get to enjoy because the food was running late and we were not going to miss the bus! The wine cave was interesting and the wine tasting wonderful. We met some great people on the tour and learned some interesting facts about this beautiful island. So with the “minor mishap” of getting on the tour, it was a good time and good value.

It was a great day exploring Santorini and learning more about its history. Our guide was great and very knowledgeable. Everything went smoothly and it was 100% the best way to discover the island in one day for anyone who's there only for a short time. I enjoyed everything we did, Akrotiri, the village of Emporio was gorgeous I absolutely loved it! The wine tasting as well was a great experience. My only regret was that the last part in Oia was on our own, I would have actually appreciated to have a guide there to give us more directions, explanations etc... But apart from that, everything was great and would definitely recommend the experience!
