Overview

See a different side of Santorini—and capture stunning shots—as you ride a horse from the traditional village of Megalochori across the island to the black sands of Vlychada Beach. One of the family that owns this 100-year-old stable will guide you and no more than four other travelers through fields and vineyards to the Aegean, just in time for sunset. Helmets and bottled water are provided.

Did not get what we paid for

The horses were lovely, and we saw some parts of the island you would not normally see, but that's the only positive I can give. It was nice being back in the saddle but beyond that nothing else was achieved. The itinerary promised a ride to the black beach, to watch the sunset over the aegean sea and that the guide would handle the horse only if necessary. We never saw the black sea, we were back at the stables about half an hour before sunset and whilst my wife was allowed to ride by herself (very experienced rider) the guide paid no attention to my experience and I was kept on such a short lead I did nothing except sit on horseback. Questions went unanswered and minimal explanation of the area we were riding through was given.

No excursion at all and paid in full.

The horses and views were beautiful. However we paid for a sunset experience and they changed our time to 5pm. We were in peak sun with no shade along the way and our experience was over by 6:30. Two hours before sunset. The horses were led by a man with a rope so we didn’t get to ride independently at all which would have also been nice.

Great experience, Barbie (I think his name was) was really lovely and you could tell her cared about his horses. I booked this tour in a hurry, and I thought this tour included the beach but it doesn’t. Instead you get to have an increase cliff side view and photos!

Misrepresentation of this ride. Was advertised as a two hour sunset ride. It was 45 minutes and ended long before sunset. The horses were gentle, the guide was polite but spoke little English. For example, I needed assistance in my mount and dismount because of bad knees and it was difficult to communicate this to him. Most of the ride takes place on the streets getting to a cliff overlook where you stop for a photo op and then return. We do not feel we got what we paid for. Disappointing

What a great time! My husband and I absolutely loved this experience and thought it was magical. The horses are extremely well trained and it is comforting for a beginner rider. Great host who told us about the areas we were in as well. Thank you!

Our guide was really nice. However we booked with the description telling us that we would be taken to black sand beach. We were not taken there. Big let down. We chose to end our trip early as this really disappointed us.

The laughs I had with my family, the stunning sunset. The owners were very friendly. We were not able to go through center of small village due to concert, that was a little disappointing. Also my family wanted to ride all horses but only 2 out of 7 of us were able to have horse. Rest of family had Donkeys.

If you are going to book a horse or donkey experience in Santorini, this is the best place to go! Other companies take large groups of over 8 people at all times of day but this one only does small groups and only in hours that are safe for the horses (and you!) heat wise. Our tour was actually private to just our couple because of this. Ioannis was friendly and incredibly accommodating and made us feel comfortable. He even had water for us after the trip. Definitely recommend!

Loved this experience! The horses are so clean and well kept. Easy to tell these horses are locally owned and treated very well. Went on a nice stroll through town to the black sand beach and back, 2 hours round trip. It was definitely worth and definitely recommend.
