What To Expect

After pickup from your central Tel Aviv hotel, settle into your air-conditioned coach and begin your full-day trip as you travel toward Jerusalem.

On route, hear about Jerusalem’s turbulent history and how the city is considered holy by the followers of the Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths.

On arrival, stop at the Mount of Olives and soak in the stunning panoramas from the slopes over the Old City. Pick out the main landmarks with pointers from your guide, including the Temple Mount Esplanade, where heaven is said to meet earth.

Travel along the Kidron Valley and pass the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus is believed to have prayed before his crucifixion.

Continue to nearby Mount Zion to visit the Tomb of King David – Israel’s famous and revered second king immortalized in the bible’s story of the battle between David and Goliath. View the sarcophagus, and visit the Hall of the Last Supper built on the site where Jesus is traditionally held to have eaten his last meal with his disciples.

Next, enter

the Zion Gate into Old Jerusalem and after a visit to the 16th-century Sephardic synagogues, discover how Jerusalem’s elites lived over 2,000 years ago at the Herodian Mansions. The excavations here have revealed the marble walls and mosaics of the luxurious homes that were built on terraces here to give them views of the temple.

Lastly, head south of the Old City to the site of the original City of David, captured by King David over 3,000 years ago. Here, explore some of the most exciting over-ground and underground archaeological treasures of this aeons-old settlement, the first foundations of present-day Jerusalem.

Having explored the ruins, relax on your ride back to Tel Avvi, where your tour finishes with a hotel drop-off.

Amazing Experience
Janice_P, Jul 2023
This was a totally action packed tour. I am amazed at all we were able to see in a day. It was a very hot day and the tour guide was aware of his guests and made sure we were okay and hydrated. My fit bit said we walked 5 miles. I am 66 and my husband is 71 and we did fine but were challenged at times. The tour covers both the City of David ruins / excavation site outside the walls of the old city and then the tour continues into Old Jerusalem. Our Guide Daniel, was very knowledgable and shared so much information. The underground tunnels were amazing. Highly recommend this tour.
Response from Host, Jul 2023
Thank you for your amazing review! We're thrilled to hear that you had an action-packed tour and were able to see so much in a day. It's great to know that our tour guide, Daniel, was attentive to your needs, especially considering the hot weather, and provided valuable information throughout the tour. We appreciate your recommendation and are glad to hear that the underground tunnels were particularly amazing.
Was the most horrible experience, I...
soraya.collis, Jan 2018
Was the most horrible experience, I use all the time Viator, but it was a nightmare. The guide was rude, cheat the schedule, etc. he took us to a specific restaurant to eat, he said they were using good species, he ordered as a local type of sandwich with a drink, the restaurant charged 45 if it had chicken. Later he took us to an expensive shopping store and he waste one hour of our trip, he doesn't allow us to buy another place because he started to scream. At the end of the tour, he moved us under a parking lot and with low temperatures we were waiting for our bus 60 minutes. The tour ends at 3:30 PM. in Jerusalem after we back to Tel Aviv. My advice is never to use it, if you would like to have relaxed, and see all holy places, take a bus from your hotel 400, in Jerusalem in the terminal, take the bus 1 cost 1 shekel, and it leave you at the door of the old Jerusalem, the first trip take about 45 min, depending of the traffic and the other 4 minutes, total is 17 shekels. I use to travel a lot around the world, but this was a terrible experience, I did it because the according USA news was not safe, but was safe.

Brian K, Jul 2017
Walking thru the tunnels of the old water system was nice. Some of the spots are under construction, which is a distraction. Tomb of David was said that he is not and never was buried there but not really explained why. Mt Scopus and Western Wall was a repeat of the Old/New Jerusalem trip. Otherwise tour was very nice and guide very passionate about the sites.

Fantastic tour! Visiting the Tomb...
CameronThomas_J, Sep 2016
Fantastic tour! Visiting the Tomb of King David and the Jewish quarter was fantastic, although since the Jewish Quarter was completely destroyed by the Jordanians when they controlled Jerusalem in the mid 20th century you are seeing a very clean and very modern quarter where people live and raise their families. The guide Yoav spent a lot of time explaining the importance of the sites to the Jewish people which came together powerfully when we saw the Western Wall at the end. I think to have seen the Wall without the background would have really taken away the impact. Later we toured the City of David and the excavations under the city where the water was fed into Jerusalem and then returning to the Western Wall via the old sewers completely dry and out of use for hundreds of years. At the end of the tunnel once you are under the Western Wall you can actually see two massive stones from the Jewish Temple that fell from the Temple Mount down to the street below, crashing through the street and into the sewer. Talk about a moment frozen in time. One tip for this tour... When exploring the water system you can take the dry route or the wet route... The wet route takes you through then caves where the water still runs... Everyone that took the wet route said it was awesome! Just remember to bring shoes you don't mind getting wet you get wet up to your knees and a flashlight or cell phone.

An excellent tour. Yoel was a great tour guide. It was a good balance between covering a lot of territory but also having some personal time, especially at th Western Wall. I would say that this tour involve a lot of walking, with much of it on hills. So a participant needs to be prepared for this. Still, a great experience.

Randy L S, Sep 2015
The guide was quite knowledgeable about the City of David. My complaint, however, is the method of transportation. We were transferred and had to wait several times before and after the tour. Rather than a direct route to Jerusalem, we had to go to a central meeting place and wait for different buses to take us to our destination. This was particularly troublesome when the tour was completed and we were quite tired.

Itamar was awesome. Extremely knowledgeable. Made the tour fun and exciting. I highly recommend this tour. One caution - If you have any fear of enclosed areas the underground tunnels are very narrow.

Gillian F, Sep 2014
This was really interesting - it took us to places we hadn't been before. It would be useful to have known in advance about needing a torch for the tunnel but at least we were prepared for the water!

Petr Z, Jun 2014
You'll se the Mount of Olives just from the bus window. From the old city you'll just see the jewish quarter, missing on all the others. The city of David is charged extra. For the money you won't see much, although nice, probably not worth the money. The lunch was also overpriced and you have just 3 choices (pita, pita or pita - last one is vegetarian). I suggest you take the trip on your own with a book guide. Thats what we did after this experience. On the other hand if you don't like planning and don't want to see everything, this may be suited for you.

There was only 4 of us on this trip, good guide and Jerusalem was amazing! loved going to the wailing wall and the breathtaking view of the graves on the mount of olives. Found the city of david abit boring and wished i had done the Holocaust museam in the afternoon instead. But Jerusalem is a must.

The trip was great, the guide terrible, he raced through everything in the morning and then dragged his heals for the last hour when there was nothing much to see, tight squeeze in parts of underground a lot of walking,

ian j, May 2012
the scheduled tour guide left without us at the rendezvousd point, so the tour organiser very quicky brought-in a replacement who was excellent - we essentially had a private tour, so it ended-up much better than it would have been with a larger group!

Mrs S I D, Aug 2011
A wonderful adventure through biblical history the guide was most informative and knowledgeable and patient with the different kinds of people in the group, all together a wonderful full day tour. which we would recommend to any one.

Natalie M, Jun 2011
This is a must. A lot of walking. Underground city has an option to see Hezekia's tunnel which requires water up to the knee...if i knew this I would have brought appropiate clothes to take this option. Make shure this is in the write up.....also payment into city of David is extra!!! Worth it though.
