If Florence is the capital of the Italian Renaissance, the Bargello Museum(Museo Nazionale del Bargello) is the capital of Italian Renaissance sculpture. Housed in the city’s medieval Palazzo del Podestà, the collection includes masterpieces by Cellini, Andrea della Robbia, Luca della Robbia, Michelangelo, Bernini, and Donatello.
We could have done the tour on our own but wouldn't have gotten nearly as much out of it had we done so. Fillipo was very knowledgeable and brought our attention to pieces we might have overlooked. It was also heavenly that it was not crowded as other museums so we could spend time examining the pieces that intrigued us. We loved it! Highly recommend.
Our group leader was knowledgeable, approachable and kind. She skilfully managed assisting a wheelchair enabled gentleman and his wife while keeping the tour moving smoothly. Seeing the sculptures added a great deal to our appreciation of Florentine art.
An incredible tour! The guide was the best we have had in Italy (we’ve been on more than 10 tours). He was superbly knowledgeable and fluent in Italian, Spanish, and English. He managed our time well with many interesting facts and stories!
Perfect tour guide - interesting, informative and contextual
Our wonderful guide, Martina, pitched the tour and talk just right. She gave a brief history of Florence and the Bargello, giving context to the art works she highlighted on the tour. She also told us about other parts of the Bargello we could explore ourselves after our tour with her was finished. Thank you Martina
Background information was invaluable. The guide adroitly fused together elements that influenced artists of the era with historic events and captured our interests.
Anna was a wonderful guide. She first gave an overview of Florence history.
Her tour through the Bargello was the
best of our trip. She knows the
collection so well and gave us
interesting insights.
