Få en tidig start för att få ut det mesta av den friska tropiska morgonen och träffa din guide vid startpunkten nära Wailua River, Kauai's enda farbara vattenväg. Klä dig med en medföljande kajak, paddel och flytväst och förvara dina tillhörigheter i en torr väska innan du ger dig iväg på de milda strömmarna.

Njut av det grönskande djungellandskapet och utsikten över vulkaniska toppar i fjärran på en 2 mil (3,2 km) paddla uppför floden mot norra gaffeln. Känn dig transporterad tillbaka i tiden när du passerar de traditionella hydorna i Kamokila Village och hör berättelser om det infödda hawaiianska folket som en gång levde runt och reste i floden för mer än 1 500 år sedan.

Ta en paus från paddlingen för att utforska regnskogen till fots på en måttlig vandring till Ulewehi-vattenfallet, där du kommer att belönas med utsikt över de majestätiska fallen som forsar 120 fot (36 meter) nerför en bergsklippa. Ladda upp med ett uppfriskande dopp i den svala djungelpoolen innan du beger dig tillbaka till leden och paddlar tillbaka på Wailua.

More of a self kayak paddle than guided tour

Hike to the waterfall was closed due to flooding. My husband and I enjoy kayaking so that was interesting. Did not get information from our guide as to the importance of the river to ancient cultures. He spoke a little about the flora but we were expecting a “guided” tour as the website states with much more information so that was quite disappointing. Maybe there would have been more history given on the hike.

It was a spectacular kayak and hike, the waterfall is beautiful. Fine for our kids ages nine and 11 for kayaking, we had double kayaks so each kid shared with a parent. Hike cones walking through water so make sure to bring tevas or other water shoes with backstrap on your foot! Highly recommended

Our tour guide was absolutely amazing! Gabriel was knowledgeable about the culture and nature. He had an amazing, fun, personality and although he probably has been on many tours, he made our group feel like it’s his first time! As for the trip… come prepared, bring your sandwich, have good shoes (closed toe is best, like keens that can get wet and are sturdy) for the hike, and enjoy the trip. If you are not in shape, just know that you are choosing an activity that requires 5 hours of kayaking and hiking. Amazing fun trip and falls were spectacular.

Our guide Nathan was very knowledgeable, prepared and easy going. The kayak portion was easier than expected and the waterfall was amazing. Nathan would stop periodically and educate us on native plant life and history of Kauai. We were back before 1pm. I’m glad we chose the morning tour option because it started to warm up as we were finishing up. Great trip and definitely worth it.

Do it, but not through this company

Understand nothing is familiar, GPS is spotty and a lot of places you do not have service. GPS took us to a different location and we had trouble finding the place. We had to look up the name of the mall it was located. We left ridiculously early. Too early in all of our opinions. Due to lane closures which is frequent, traffic delays, and everything working against you. We made it 15 min later than check in and they were gone. They will not be accommodating. In fact, they will seem delighted to take your money for nothing in return. That was almost our experience, but worse. We met at the doc and barely made it on. They promised snacks and drinks, but because we were late we were punished with 5.5 hours of no water or snacks along with strenuous exercise. If you’re in shape, no problem. Dehydration is always a problem regardless and due to the sheer panic of loosing a lot of money to the unapologetic joyful ‘to do so’ voice, we left everything behind. We did not get water, nor snacks. Definitely do this experience, just don’t do it through this company.

This tour was so amazing!! We loved being constantly surrounded by beautiful scenery. The hike and kayaking was the perfect mix of peaceful and adventurous. Our tour guide Gabe was outstanding! He was so personable and knowledgeable. I can’t recommend him enough. The only downfall was we had a flash flood warning and didn’t get to spend much time at the waterfall, so beware that does happen. But over all I would definitely book this tour to do again!!
