The crew was friendly and extremely knowledgable about whales and the area. I had a bucket list experience as we were fortunate to have a whale breach just a short distance from our boat. So exciting!

It was incredible to get close enough to a whale to see a calf swimming next to its mother. She was teaching her baby how to breath at the surface.

Great tour!! They were very knowledgeable and shared lots of great info. We saw several whales, include a mom and baby playing around for about 15 minutes. Even saw some bottlenose dolphins!

Top marks! Guides were knowledgeable about not only whales, but the history of the islands, as well. I recommend this tour above others, as the boat we were on was bigger and more solid than some of the little Zodiak inflatable boats around us.

Worthwhile but access to the boat was difficult

The trip in the whale watching, was very good, however, getting to the main boat was by small skiff off of a pier that was somewhat difficult to get in, and very difficult to get out of when you came back until they dredge that access to make it deeper, which is supposedly going to be in April I would take one that actually came up to the pier or which there were several that we saw

Mahalo for joining us for the adventure. We agree, our temporary location is not ideal, especially with the current sandbar situation. Hopefully it gets dredged next month and we will be operate as close to normal as possible!

Levi and Shannon did a fantastic job locating whales for us to see. They openly shared their knowledge regarding whale and migration patterns answering questions and sharing experiences! They seem to truly enjoy what they do. We were also fortunate enough to see spotted dolphins! Great experience and highly recommend. And we can’t forget about Molly! She did a great job maneuvering the dingy on a VERY windy day to get us to and from the larger boat without getting g totally drenched! Thanks for the wonderful experience!

The crew we had was very helpful and informative. Both worked well as a team. Interacting with all the passengers including the children. Left no one without a conversation with same. Took great pride in their work. Was very pleased how much effort the excursion to make it a success. WELL DONE !!!

Amazing Makai Adventures

This was the best tour ever!! Makai Adventures provided my sisters and me with unforgettable memories. Paul, the captain, and Lainie, the assistant, were amazing. Besides their ability to spot the whales, they freely shared their knowledge and, their love for what they do was quite evident. Within minutes, we saw a whale and it got even better from there. We saw three sets of mothers with calves, two full breaches and many other sightings and sprays. Then, Paul and Lainie dropped a microphone into the water and we got to hear the whales singing. It was absolutely amazing. We also want to give a shout out to Keao for getting us to the boat and back to the dock safely and Iwa for communicating so well with us with reservations and maps to the dock location. We can't Thank Paul, Lainie, Iwa and Makai Adventures enough for these awesome memories. This was definitely a 5+++ experience and I/we highly recommend it.

Rare day with the mother whale feeding her baby while standing on her head. Great crew...very knowledgeable. They also put a microphone under the water so we could hear the singing. Zippy boat. 24 people. Fun day! Thank you!!!

Absolutely loved this tour! We did a different one in a bigger boat but this small boat was much more Intimate. Our captain was awesome and so was our naturalist ! Loved the tour and will be back!

Excellent crew. We were able to track a competition pod for quite a while and they were very knowledgeable about why the whales were acting as they did.
