What To Expect

Meet your guide and small group (there’s a maximum of 10 on this tour) near the entrance to Monastiraki metro station to begin your foodie adventure.

Your first stop is Athens Central Market, where you’ll learn to shop like an Athenian, meet the traders, and eat a delicious meal of lamb on the bone (kleftiko).

Sample cheese, cured meats, fruit, olive oil, honey, sweets, and spices as you stroll the streets of atmospheric Psirri, meeting local shopkeepers as you do so. Then sit down in a taverna for one of Athens’ very best gyros plus wine fresh from the barrel.

There’s time for a bougatsa (custard pie) dessert and of course Greek coffee and ouzo before you return to Monastiraki for a photo stop at a viewpoint. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available on request.

This was hands down the best food tour of my life ! Our guide was a local born and raised but her English could easily pass as a native speaker. We tried everything! Great food tour

We went on this tour with Rachel. So happens we were the only two on the tour and had a private tour! Rachel took us to some interesting non-touristy places which we would have never have found by ourselves. We tried a variety of foods along the way to two sit down meals. Rachel was very knowledgable about the food and also gave us some context. We really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it at the beginning of a trip to Athens. Of course, come with an empty stomach!

There aren’t enough good things to say about our food tour with Rachel!!!! It was one of the best tours we have ever experienced. Rachel is fun and extremely knowledgeable of the Greek food and culture. We experienced the Greek markets, and tried everything from olives to spices to honey. The food we ate was amazing! When you book this tour, go hungry as there will be more food to try than you’ll be able to eat. Rachel orders the meals based on who the guests are and she personalizes the experience for you. Excellent introduction to authentic Greek food

Maik was an excellent guide. We ate so many food items. He knew every shopkeeper and freely moved about each store getting things for us to try. We learned about virgin olive oil, how phyllo is made, how different olives are seasoned and so much more. In the spice shop we could smell different spices and he would explain how to use it. Watching the brewing of authentic Greek coffee in heated sand was so interesting. In the final restaurant his wife, Rachel, joined us. She added additional information about the food. We ate many different dishes such as beans, stuffed red peppers, anchovies and drank Uzo. We ate much more than I’ve listed here. Come prepared to eat.
