What To Expect

Begin your epicurean experience at Monastiraki Square, in front of the Byzantiune church in the middle of the square. Here, you’ll convene with your guide and small group, and embark on a street food tour of Athens.

Awaken your palate with a cup of rich and roasted Greek coffee and a fresh koulouri, whose sweet pastry and crispy sesame seeds are sure to make your mouth water.

Then, satisfy your sweet tour with loukoumades (Greek donuts) smothered in honey and cinnamon. In the Central Market, browse stalls brimming with Greek produce and then proceed to the commercial center of Athens to sample what are arguably the city’s best Greek pies, filled with feta and spinach.

Your tour culminates with soup or souvlaki at an eatery favoured by locals—relish the simple, fresh flavors of Greek cuisine before you bid your guide farewell at your final location.

Dionysius was very knowledgeable and educated re: Athens & ancient history. I most enjoyed our conversations as he cleared up many historical questions related to the sites & cultural areas we visited.

No earphones provided so couldn’t hear the guide despite being a group of 5 in total. The guide was a lovely person but most of the experience was awkward. Food was nice but to be honest nothing special or different, we would have easily found it ourselves!

A bit pricey I thought but an enjoyable evening after a transatlantic flight. Good for our first evening when we were tired and didn’t want to figure out dinner plans. Ate any things we may not have tried otherwise. Got off the beaten track and away from tourists.

Great tour through the flea market and trying some local traditional Greek dishes that tourists would not typically know about. Some of the restaurants that we ate at were for locals and it was nice to be able to see what the locals eat and how they dine. I highly recommend this tour.

Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, however there was nothing special, memorable or unique about the experience. There were only two of us, which I though would create a more intimate experience. The food was okay, not great. I've had other tours in other cities and this did not compare, Rome, Lisbon, etc. I felt responsible and was apologetic toward my travel partner as I made the suggestion to do the tour.

It ended up being a private tour for the two of us. We were shown through a bustling part of town, up and coming from its days as a red light district and now a cool place. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the neighborhood and its history. We learnt that cold frappé is the real Greek coffee, had great pastry, tasted cheese and ham, were shown the best gyros in town and had a marvelous dessert. Great fund and impossible to find on our own: Well worth the tour!
