What To Expect

Begin with pickup at your Auckland hotel or cruise ship terminal, then travel to a series of popular city sights with a local driver/guide. Learn about the history of Auckland along the way to the Auckland Harbour Bridge, then explore Devonport, a scenic suburb with views across the water to downtown Auckland.

Stop by North Head, a headland formed by the volcano Maungauika, and visit One Tree Hill, a second volcanic peak which looks out at both of Auckland’s harbors. Maori people call this hill Maungakiekie, or ‘mountain of the kiekie vine,’ and it was home to an important fortification prior to the arrival of Europeans.

Soak up the hip, bustling atmosphere on Ponsonby Road, which is home to some of the city’s best bars, restaurants, and shops, then continue on a route through central Auckland that can be customized to your interests. This tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel or cruise ship.

We just wanted to say the biggest Thank you to Mike for our tour of Auckland yesterday! We had the absolutely BEST time. He was the best guide and we LOVED all the places he took us too. It was my Daughters 21st Birthday yesterday and Mike made sure she had the most memorable day and I can't thank him enough! Tour covered a great cross section of the city. From its origins and the diversity of its architecture to what's happening today. Beautiful views and the history of its defences during war time was a great end to time well spent. David was fantastic and very inclusive. Can highly recommend.

Great Overview of Auckland

Michael was an excellent guide and driver. He had a wealth of knowledge about NZ that he happily shared with us and provided a well paced and enjoyable tour of the areas of Auckland that we could not reach by foot. While we explored the Central Business District on our own, this tour took us to the other points of interest that we otherwise would have missed. It really rounded out our visit and made the most of our limited time in the city. Highly recommended.

Mike was a great guide and driver. He was personable, knowledgeable and kind. We might have preferred to skip the expensive houses part, but others may enjoy it. The Fernery and Winter Gardens were great, and so were the lookout points to view different areas of the city.

Wonderful get acquainted afternoon tour of Auckland. We were only in the city for 24 hours but wanted to get a sense of the place before leaving on a cruise the next morning. Steve was our guide and he was terrific. Very friendly and informative and always solicitous of our well-being. With just 9 passengers in a well air- conditioned van, it was a great way to see the sites of the city. Loved that he picked us up at the hotel.

Mike did an excellent job showing us around Auckland . One gentleman on minibus became unwell . Mike made sure the gentleman was ok . But .viator can you explain why the first tour in NZ I booked ,was in Australian dollars and then this tour ,you charged me American dollars .

Absolutely AWESOME tour covers a good selection of great Auckland sights. Great communication and a seamless hotel pickup service. Tour Guide - Mike is an ABSOLUTE LEGEND...as well as his extensive knowledge, great driving and local snippets - he also got me straight to hospital 'QuickTime' after a medical emergency. We had a wonderful time with our guide Mike. We especially appreciate that although we were the only 2 guests booked for the afternoon session, they did not cancel and instead gave us a private tour of Auckland. Mike was a real treat to talk to and get to know. It was also fun watching him react to the high winds which we could tell were unusual for Auckland. Highly recommended!

The big coach buses simply can't go to where we go to get the spectacular views that you refer to. Poor and would not repeat

Very hot day and driver/guide was late because of bad traffic caused by road works. Too much time showing us boats in the marina. No water available to buy or otherwise. Having told us about problems with roadworks guess what - he went past them to a location which meant we sat in a queue for 45 mins trying to get back! Why? Surely some initiative and thinking on your feet would have saved a lot of stress and provided an enjoyable experience by changing what we saw and or the order in which we saw it. I think a partial refund would be in order!

Unfortunately, there were roadworks on this day, but our tour guide regrettably could not have been aware of the extended queue of traffic that faced him when he came around the corner and arrived at that area. We appreciate that this impacted your experience which is not our normal tour experience as you can read from others that we provide which we regret as once in the jam, it was difficult to get out and doing a U-Turn was impossible. He then compensated by extending the tour by 30 minutes and taking you to other parts of Auckland that we would not normally go to. We refunded your payment yesterday. A great tour around Auckland giving us an overview of the city and the surrounding area with memorable views from various vantage points around the bay. We make no secret of the fact that our 4-Hour Half Day Tour of Auckland is the most comprehensive available. We travel also over the Auckland Harbour Bridge to cthe North Shore and the quaint township of Devonport. No visit to Auckland can be complete without a visit to Devonport, steeped in history and charm. We go there. And yes, we go aloft 2 of the 53 extinct volcanoes in Auckland for the most stunning and spectacular views. If you only have 1/2 day spare, then our tour is the perfect one as you mention.
