Interesting Auckland
Elisabeth_E, Mar 2024
We loved the tour and the treats were quality. Liz was knowledgeable and is obviously passionate about Auckland. Thanks Liz for sharing your lovely city with us.
Delightful & informative walking tour
Robert_H, Mar 2024
Wow! What a wonderful tour! Our guide, Debbie, was very informative, interesting, and considerate. Truly delightful in every way! We learned so much about Auckland, its history and development, neighborhoods and hidden gems — exactly what we were hoping for. We also came away with great recommendations for day trips, and some needed shopping tips. The small group tour makes a world of difference. Definitely exceeded 5 stars!
Informative walking tour
Debra_C, Mar 2024
Nice to see the highlights of the city. Then you can go back and explore the things that are more of a personal interest.
A good back ground tour of Auckland.
Kevin_B, Mar 2024
Our guide Nina was very knowledgeable about Auckland and went into great detail about the citys history and the Maori. At times, some of her history went a little too deep and lenghty, but over all it was enjoyable and very informative.
More snacks please!
Kristin_C, Mar 2024
Joe was a wonderful guide around central Auckland, full of energy and she packed in a lot of information in three hours. The pace of the tour was quick. I would have liked more snacks for the price of the tour.
Interesting and entertaining

Joe was an amazing tour guide and gave a wonderful tour. She gave us a superb overview of Auckland and was very knowledgeable about all the sites she took in on the tour. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The chocolate store visit was an added bonus and amongst the best chocolate I’ve ever tasted. Highly recommend. 😊
Great tour

Great tour Liz was very informative and passionate about her own city, highly recommended tour extremely knowledgeable about the area and products
Best walking tour - fun, lots of great information- don’t miss it!
William_P, Feb 2024
We really enjoyed the walking tour- Liz, our guide and founder of Aucky- Walky Tours was excellent; so friendly, fun and informative. She took us through all kinds of neighborhoods in central Auckland, pointing out both historical or important places but also fun, little spots that are not on tourist maps, plus gave us recommendations for restaurants . This is not a heavy history type walk- rather an interesting few hours to get a glimpse of a real city with a 4th generation person who strives to give you a most memorable experience for exploring Auckland. She was so generous to stop and buy the group the best candy from a specialty chocolatier; coffee at unique boutique cafe; a map and little card of key words in Māori. We were so glad we took this tour within a few hours of arrival because it gave us a foundation for the rest of our time in Auckland. Can’t say enough how excellent Liz was in introducing us to this big diverse city with such enthusiasm and delight.

Great walking tour
Phyllis_G, Feb 2024
You pack in a lot walking in the 3-hour tour. It is slower paced do need to worry whether you have to be in the best of shape. Nina was a great tour guide and shared lots of Auckland history. It made for a great tour and introduction to the city. If you’re looking for a walking tour where you get to taste various NZ specialties, this is not it. We stopped for a refreshment and at a small chocolate shop. Definitely more walking and touring rather than eating.
Aucky Walky for the Win
Lindy_G, Aug 2023
So much was memorable about this tour. It was something my sister and I booked last minute as part of our world cup trip and it ended up being one of the most memorable things about our trip. If nothing else, you get a good first look and impression of Auckland. As our guide Liz (who also happens to be the founder of the tour guide company) told us at the end of the tour, you feel more confident when navigating Auckland. That couldn’t have been more true for the remainder of our stay. It’s the little things that help make your trip more enjoyable. Liz also had a way of welcoming you to her country that was both inviting and sincere. I also really respected and appreciated her sharing her cultural experiences as a 4th generation Kiwi as well as her vast knowledge of the local Māori culture and language. From the first minute when she opted to greet us by having us stand a little closer together (but not close) stating she wasn’t going to yell at us for the duration of the tour since it wasn’t the New Zealand way to be overly loud (and carry a blow horn for tours), I knew I would enjoy the smaller group setting and more intimate and relaxed atmosphere. Definitely more inviting and no one ever had an issue hearing her (and yet she nonetheless made an effort to regularly confirm we could all hear). Just goes to show how well thought out her this tour was and how mindful she is in wanting us to have a nice, memorable time. She could have easily overpacked the amount of people included in her tour but that wasn’t her way, which made for a gold standard in my book. The tour itself is a walking tour, but not overly strenuous. It is also off the beaten pass which is the best part. All the little known local secrets (but also while still getting to see the main sights along the way). She even provides an amazingly thoughtful guide with a little map as well recommendations on things to eat, places to go, etc. We definitely made sure to try the entire list of “what the locals eat,” before we headed home. I also want to add that while there really aren’t very many Māori cultural experiences in Auckland and while Liz doesn’t advertise this tour as such, she nonetheless strikes a good balance of weaving together the present as well both Auckland and Māori history. It presented a more complete picture of how Auckland became what it is today and even where it’s going. Again, just made for a very well-rounded experience. And yes, there were lovely treats to try along the way (all included as part of the fee). If I make another visit to NZ, I will definitely make sure to check out one of her other tours as I’m sure they are all just as lovely. You can’t beat someone who not only knows the area, but who also loves and respects the city so much that she is willing to share its beauty and secrets with others. Thank you Liz, even when we ran into my parents (who were not part of the tour) and you so generously offered to let them tag along.

Claire_T, Apr 2023
Loved being able to see where locals hang out, e.g. the very charming Britomart. Loved the surprises along the way, too - Vulcan Lane, for instance. Wonderful way to get to know Auckland without spending lots of time doing your own research. Highly recommended!!

Easy walk with some steps
Charlotte_H, Mar 2023
We had a fun walk with Liz. She narrated the fable and story behind the hidden lanes, which made the walking trip interesting. She also bought us to a heritage hotel for coffee. We also took public bus to uptown to experience the vibrant of the local people. Thumb up!

Auckland walking tour with treats
Barbara_L, Nov 2022
Liz has set up a great walking tour of Auckland and Joe was an excellent tour guide. She was very informative, has a great sense of humor, and did a great job of adjusting our pace to one of the tour group’s members who has knee problems.
Response from Host, Nov 2022
Nga mihi, thank you Barbara, so glad you and Ernie enjoyed our small-group experience and the kindness of guide Joe. We hope our advice helped you find your feet in Auckland and lead to a more enjoyable stay. Safe travels in Aotearoa NZ and thanks again for walking our way and supporting a wahine/women-owned tourism venture.
