Honokohau Small Boat Harbor. Coming from Hwy 19, turn West toward the ocean on Kealakehe Pkwy. Take the 1st right turn to enter the North side of the harbor. Follow the road around to a large dirt parking lot. Park near Public Restroom Pavillion.

Our Manta Policy: Manta Rays are wild animals and Snorkel Big Island cannot guarantee their presence. If a manta ray is not seen on your night out with us you may try again on a different night for a rebooking fee. Please keep in mind that seats may be extremely limited during certain times of the year. We usually are very successful in finding mantas for you; however if they decide to take the night off the costs involved with setting up the charter will not allow us to offer you a refund. We appreciate your business and understanding of this policy.

First thing, I liked that we were only 6 person plus the captain and his helper. Smaller group is better I think! We have seen the sunset when we were going and it was so beautiful. The experience with the rays was way better than what I expected. They are coming very close and they turn and come back to feed. It was amazing! The team have a lot of interesting facts. When we came back, they gave us collation, water and hot chocolate. It was a nice touch to finish this trip.

Fantastic experience

Just the coolest thing I believe I have ever done. This company is the one to use. There were just five of us versus twenty or so in the other groups. The odd part is that we paid $15 or $20 less than they did. Much more of an intimate experience. The rays were incredible. At one point there were 15 or 20 around us

Such a memorable experience! The boat ride as an experience of its self. It was an experience of itself. We did the 9:30 departure and we had the whole place to our selves. No big tours out there, which meant more mantas under our board. We saw at least 14 (felt like more as they were so many under us the whole time). The water was a little chilly but the wetsuits provided were great! The whole experience is unlike one you’d get from a bigger boat. If you want an exhilarating and unique experience this is the tour you want to book. If you want an even more adventurous experience definitely go with the 9:30 booking.

Wow! We went tonight to snorkel with the mantas, and we were blown away at what we saw! The smaller boat let us quickly get our group in the water, and right away there were mantas under us, coming up to feed right below us! They were beautiful, huge and so graceful, and we had basically a nonstop show of these beautiful creatures the whole time! I would definitely recommend this captain and crew, they knew just where to put us in so we were where the plankton was, and the mantas followed. Eli was able to identify many of the mantas by their markings, and names. He knew a lot and shared interesting facts the whole boat ride and snorkel. We all really were impressed and would recommend them to anyone wanting a really great experience!

In one word AWE!!! My partner and I chose this trip and experience to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. It was AMAZING! From beginning to end the captain and Eli did not disappoint. Their respect for the Manta Rays, their knowledge of their habits, names, Hawaiian views… all added to the once in a lifetime encounter. And not only were they great humans, or a smooth boat ride, but the Manta Rays were with us from the second we went in the water until we left them. As everyone says, they came within an inch or two and even brushed against us. The acrobatic display was beautiful but the way they filled us with peace and pure awe, had stayed with us and we will never forget. Also we are animal rights and felt the Manta’s were only honored. And we are a queer couple and felt very safe being open. Highly recommended!!

The Manta Rays are majestic. We had 6 large ones circling around us the whole time. We got bumped (love taps) quite a few times. This was definitely an experience of a lifetime! I you’re on the fence about going, my advice is to do it. You won’t regret it. Also, go with Snorkel Big Island. They do smaller groups which makes the experience that much better. Highly recommend!

We used small boat and enjoyed boating to the place and back, it's little different experience with small boat - good to me which could feel the waves in the ocean. More over 6 people Manta Ray snorkeling tour is really amaging for me. I enjoied Manta Ray snorkeling really even I am afraid of water and do not know how to swim. Another luck is we (I and my wife) enjoyed private snorkeling because other team was not joined to our tour. Thanks for all to support this tour.

What a memorable experience! We were able to see these stunning sea creatures do their flips only a few inches away. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. As a small group, he was able to maneuver us around the bay quickly to find the best spots to observe the manta rays.

The boat ride into the dark sets up the fun activity. The limited information is part of it too so just go with it. The guide knows exactly what they’re doing. The manta rays have to be seen to be believed and they have names and reputations

John and Eli were great! Friendly, funny and professional. The included wet suits were clean and comfortable and included in the price! Nice small group setting and impressive, high quality boat. We arrived in the area of the Mantas and there were several other big boat tour groups also just arriving. Each of these boats had at least 40 people on them. We got our equipment and were in the water with Eli before the other larger boats even started getting people situated. We immediately had 8-10 Mantas doing barrel rolls right at us! Eli was very knowledgeable and was able to explain everything about the mantas. While we were in the water having a professional and informational experience, the larger groups were just getting shouted at over a loud speaker by their tour guides. It didn’t spoil our time at all, it just made me appreciate our small group and realize how much more of a fulfilling experience we were having! These creatures are so graceful and peaceful it really is a must do! Highly recommend this tour!

A magical experience you will not regret!

I have been coming to The Big Island for 20 years and this was my first time snorkeling with the mantas. I cannot express how wonderful this experience was. The small group worked really well for us. We wanted to experience the rays as peacefully as possible. Everyone on our boat was respectful of the majestic beings and their space. We had non stop, up close visits from at least 8 mantas. It was mesmerizing. The ONLY downside was people on other tours screaming non stop and their guides telling really bad jokes at full volume. If you like a mellow tour with friendly and knowledgeable guides, this is for you. I cannot recommend it enough.

Cancelled at last minute and lied about reason

They cancelled the trip 15 mins before scheduled time to meet. Stated conditions are not good for the night and poor visibility. We were already at the dock and 2 boats with 20 plus passengers going out. Why need to lie about it. They stated would get a refund that night, latest in the morning. No response after multiple attempted contacts.
