Overview

During their annual migration, Hawaii plays host to one of the largest populations of North Pacific humpback whales in the world. On this seasonal tour, held only between December and April, set sail along the Kona-Kohala coast and enjoy spectacular views as you cruise around the Big Island. Whale sightings are guaranteed, so if you aren’t lucky enough to spot the majestic creatures, simply come back on another day, free of charge.

Departure Point: Anaehoomalu Bay, Waikoloa Address: 69-1081 Kuualii Place Waikoloa, Hawaii 96738 Directions: Vessels depart from Anaehoomalu Bay at the Waikoloa Beach Resort. If driving, set your GPS to "69-1081 Kuualii Place Waikoloa, Hawaii 96738". This will take you toward the A-Bay beach and the Lava Lava Beach Club. Park at the A-Bay Beach Park parking lot, and walk along the beach toward the middle. Look for our orange Hawaii Nautical check-in banner near the two prominent coconut trees. We will come to get you there in our catamaran tender.

The crew was very nice and helpful. Great views from the boat. The only disappointment was the briefest of whale sitings and the distance which understandably can't be controlled. It was encouraging that they offer 20% off another trip. We will book again. I have no pictures.

My wife and I had such a great time. Captain and crew were great and showed us a great time on the tour. We were able to check something off our bucket list and see something we will remember for the rest of our lives.

Had a good time and saw several whales, both mother and babies. The captain really worked hard to find the whales for us. Only comment for improvement would be to invest in some sort of sonor or radar to know the areas of the whales versus hoping that something is there.

Hats off to Captain Cindy and Allie! Captain Cindy was fantastic- funny, engaging, and great at finding whales! Allie was so knowledgeable about the island and has such a warm, peaceful vibe. Great trip.

We booked a catamaran but we’re told it was in for maintenance and went on a power boat with about 30 people. They did give us a choice to pick a different day, but decided to go anyway. My adult children sat near the back and had some trouble seeing because people stood up a good lot of the time, but they stayed dry and out of the sun. My husband and I were in the second row and we got literally drenched multiple times with ocean spray when motoring into the surf and rough water. It was not pleasant. We did see some whales and lots of action in the distance with tails slapping over and over again which was nice. We all would have been happier if the journey had been 60 minutes not the 90 minutes.

We had a great time and were able to see a few groups of whales that were very active. The captain and other crew were very informative and friendly. They had a verity of drink options and some light snacks to choose from. The weather was great for a few hours on the water. I would go again. I really enjoyed the whale watching trip.

Boat was not as advertised. Description says we would board on shore on their catamaran tender. We never boarded a catamaran. I finally realized 30 minutes in we were not transferring to a larger boat. Technically we saw a few whales from a great distance we weren't able to get a picture of any. We were told they weren't allowed to get with 100 yards of the whales. Wtf. Water was full of whitecaps and we were in a very tiny boat. We were splashed repeatedly due to the tiny boat surfing the waves.We were also told to remove our shoes upon arrival that was NEVER in the Description or i would not have booked it. Don't waste your time or money!

Fun day whale watching

Met up with Captain Chelsea for a fun whale watching experience. We saw Hawaiian humpback whales within 5 minutes of heading out. Chelsea followed a mom and calf and their escort for a while so we could watch the baby splashing in the water while exercising it's tail :) We saw several whales breach, such an amazing experience. Thank you so much Captain Chelsea!

Saw whales as promised. Captain and crew were friendly and helpful. Ad stated that the trip was appropriate for most people however the transfers between boats was a little tricky. Too many know it all kids on our boat.

Company and boat were MAGNIFICENT ! We saw several whales that breached the surface! The entire trip was a first rate experience. Crew was helpful and entertaining ! Snacks and drinks provided. pickup on the beach was organized and easy. Cleanest and newest catamaran I have ever been on. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The pilot and first mate were fantastic. The ocean was very rough that day, they did great managing the rough water. Because of the rough water it caused the whales to be a lot more active. We were able to see several wonderful views of the whales! When we come back we will take another excursion with them.
