What To Expect

Your glass-bottom boat cruise departs from Waikoloa, just a short drive from Kona. Hop aboard your 26-foot (7.9-meter) boat and glide into the waters of Anaeho’omalu Bay, which hosts impressive scores of Hawaii’s diverse marine life.

Take a seat under the shaded benches and view the bright world below, with passing tropical fish and beautiful green sea turtles. Marine naturalists join you on your cruise to provide commentary about the region’s marine life and answer any questions you may have. These experts also offer some insider tips on the best snorkel spots in the bay. Don’t forget to ask them about the humuhumunukunukuapuaa, Hawaii’s celebrated state fish, before your trip concludes.

  • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Previous year we had taken the other grandchildren and saw lots of turtles. This year no turtles. This trip is excellent for children because it short trip 30-40 minutes. The guides are excellent with lots of stories and fun facts.

It is a very short excursion. Not many fish to be seen but the crew was nice. The beach is very nice.

Fun outing with our kids! It was really windy the morning we went out, but we were still able to see several turtles and lots of different fish! Both the Captain and his co-Captain were very friendly and knowledgeable; we learned a lot about the different kinds of fish we saw!

The captain & his mate were so personable & knowledgeable. They made it a truly memorable experience. We saw many different types of fish, urchins, sea cucumbers , and several sea turtles among the reefs.

We had a great time on the boat. It was very nice and relaxing. Staff was super knowledgeable about all the sea life and coral reef that we saw. They were personable engaging and friendly. We had a blast and definitely would do again. They also offer other excursions so we will definitely be looking into that the next time we visit. In our opinion better than the GlassBottom Tours company.

Due to the surf the water was clouded and not much to see. Your operator was nice and informative but experience was not worth the price.

Not worth it for the price

We left late and took the boat out to first try and spot some whales but didn’t have much luck. We then went to the reefs (which were really close to the beach) where we could only really see small fish. I didn’t really find it interesting but at least the guides had great knowledge about the fish and the area. However, a $50 price tag for this is ridiculous. You don’t even spend that much time out on the water and you barely see anything interesting. I wouldn’t recommend this and would say it’s more worth it to just do dedicated whale watching or actual snorkeling.

We did this tour on our last day on the island. The boat has plenty of space around the viewing portal for all to see. We were very lucky as, besides the normal sea creatures in the bay, a pod of spinner dolphins decided to visit - what fun! We also were treated to whales slapping their tales in the distance. It was a very fun, interesting experience. The crew was great and very knowledgeable - clearly experienced. Thank you for a fun morning activity!
