    Day Trip to Colonia
    Adam_G, Apr 2024
Excellent day from the organized transportation to and from the ferry terminal to the day spent exploring Colonia. Our guide, Alejandra, was knowledgeable on the area and very personable. The old town is definitely worth visiting!

    Taking a ferry to Colonia

We were picked up by a driver with one other passenger. Driver helps us pickup our ferry tickets and get through Uruguay customs and immigration. One hour ferry ride was comfortable. Our guide met us at the ferry. It was a wonderful walking tour around Colonia, we had lunch and free time to explore Colonia on our own. We had a great time with a very knowledgeable guide..
    What a special town !

Great tour! Loved that we were a small group of four! Made it to the Sunday Market, where we bought some cheese and grilled meat kabobs
    Relaxing day trip to Uruguay

The pickup and drop off was flawless. I was worried that if I got lost no one notice but the guide made sure we got back on the ferry safely. The guide was excellent and gave lots of information about Uruguay. She was enthusiastic and easy to listen to.
    A wonderful day trip.

We were lucky enough to get Ally as our guide for the morning. She is so passionate about everything she says about Colonia and Uruguay. We learnt so much from her. We started with a guided tour around the town then after that, had plenty of time for lunch and another walk on our own before returning to the ferry. The whole day trip was perfectly timed and organised. Thank you Viator.
    The old town was wonderful

Our tour guide for this experience was knowledgeable and wonderful to be around. You could tell she loved her country as it came across in her talks about the city of Colonia. The buildings and old cobble stone streets give off so much character. We joined in with others on the tour and getting us to Uruguay and back was well organized. Plenty of free time to explore the area.
    Nice day tour

Tour itself was great. All guides and pick up/drop off were fantastic. In general, 4 hours to explore Colonia was just too much time for me. I would have liked the option of returning on an earlier ferry.
    Excellent guide

Excellent guide who gave us a very good overall picture of Uruguay and also the details of Colonia. It was interesting to compare with Argentina.

Loved it. Our guide was the best. A little sticky walking, but it was a beautiful day. Thanks Viator. .
    Amazing little town.

My favorite highlight of the trip. A must do if you have time. It's a gorgeous UNESCO World Heritage site. Very cute town. The tour guide was very informative about Uruguay. Immigration can take a while when in Uruguay so carry a fan with with you.
Historic Colonia, an Option to Escape from Buenos Aires
    Dwight_E, Jan 2024
This is a great day trip from Buenos Aires. However keep in mind that it takes about more than two hours each way to travel to and return from the site with the bulk of travel time on a ferry. Signature Tours that operated this tour made the travel back and forth pretty easy. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of both Colonia and Uruguay. I’m a big history buff (my wife less so!) so this tour was very memorable for me. We spent about 1/2 of our time in Colonia with the guide and the other half exploring on our own. We did have a great lunch at Buen Suspiro and there are other great places within Colonia to try based on what we heard from others within our tour group. There are plenty of options to explore, shop, eat or have some quiet time with this tour.
    Don't go!!!!!
    James_P, Dec 2023
Do not take this tour...its agonizing. To sum it up you get a 2 hour tour in Colonia with a guide (who was good) BUT you have to invest a total of 12 hours. The process of going through immigration in Argentina and Uruguay 4 times (2 times to get there and 2 times to get back) was frustrating. Then waiting in line at the ferry terminal to go over and come back was also time consuming. While Colonia is mildly interesting its definitely not worth $250 per person and 12 hours.
    Great Experience, Fun Relaxing Day
    Edward_M, Nov 2023
Had a great trip! Driver picked me up 5 min early. Walked us through the ferry entrance and customs process. Super easy. We met our tour guide in Uruguay once we left the terminal. She was fantastic, spoke really good English and was a great guide. Super easy going day. Highly recommend checking out Colonia for a fun, relaxing day trip. Same driver met us outside of customs again in Buenos Aires and drove us back to the hotel.
    Day trip to Colonia
