What To Expect

Meet your qualified Egyptologist guide at your hotel at your selected departure time. Then, hop inside your private, climate-controlled vehicle and travel to the river pier where your pretty felucca is waiting at the dock.

Step aboard the traditional wooden boat and settle into one of the comfortable seats, with your guide alongside you. Then, as the white sail flutters in the breeze, set off for your cruise along the calm Nile waters.

Sit back and drink in the panoramic views over Cairo’s bridges, riverbanks and towers, and listen as your guide points out landmarks and shares stories about the Egyptian capital's incredible history. Savor the gentle breezes and warm sunshine as you sail, and bask in the wonderful peace that comes from being out on the water — a stark contrast to the commotion of Cairo's streets and bazaars.

Booked the previous night. Was collected promptly on time and driven to the boat. Had a great time touring the Nile. The captain was very accommodating and our guide (Azoma) was very friendly and spoke fluent English. All in all we enjoyed ourselves and would recommend this experience

I got sexual harrassment

I got sexual harassment from my guide. I was the only guest on the boat. He touched my hands without permission and said something sexual thing to test my limit. That was the grossest experience I ever had. He spent almost 70% of the tour time talking about his things instead of doing his guide job.

Very nice memorable sailing time. A representative of the emo tours company came with a driver to pick us up. The representative also came into the sailboat with us. We took the trip during the golden evening hour. The city looked beautiful then. There was nobody else and it was a private tour for us (not sure because they didn't have anyone else booked or it was actually a private tour!). I was staying at marriott mena house, the other end of the city. 1 hour away in car. They still included the pickup & drop off. This exurcsion with them cost me $100 less than booking the exact same thing with my hotel!

Amazing experience in faluca

The trip was an amazing experience. The guide, Ranya, did everything she could to make us feel comfortable. We could get a ride in a traditional faluca and learned a lot about the Egyptian country and culture. Highly recommended to do this experience at the beginning of your stay in Egypt, as you will receive a local advise about the things you should do in Cairo. She recommended us a lot of beautiful things to see. 10/10

Very disappointing

This was a terrible trip. It lasted less than 40 minutes, and we literally just zig-zagged a part of the river in front of our hotel. All three people expected to be tipped, even though the guide knew very little about the Nile and the skipper smoked the whole time we went round. Not worth the money

Much more than expected

The trip was so much more than we expected. We got picked up directly from our hotel and driven to the port from which we departed. Snacks were provided and our tour guide Ahmed, aka. Jackson, illustrated us during the trip with the culture and traditions of Egypt and Cairo. This is definitely worth the money, would definitely recommend!!

Disappointing ride on a motorboat

The tour (through Emo Tours) was not on a traditional felucca, but rather a motorboat. Our guide, who was very sweet and deserves a higher rating, said the weather doesn't allow for it (we saw one felucca being towed by a motorboat in the river). If that is the case during the winter time of year, the tour description should state that (or at least give a disclaimer saying it was a possibility). We wanted and paid for an hour long ride on a traditional felucca and instead got a ~35 minute ride on a large motorboat. All-in-all we spent longer in the car because of Cairo traffic than we did on the boat - and our hotel was a few short kilometers from the boat.

Reality was very different from advertising

Felucca ride is advertised as trip on a sailboat but what we got was just a motorboat with a strong smell of gas. And instead of ”stories of the city” the guide just said that we can ask in case of any questions.

We booked this sailing trip day before and are so glad we did! It was such a relaxing afternoon on the Nile River admidst the hustle and bustle of Cairo! Hazim our guide was fantastic, he and the driver were both very professional, personable, fun and caring. The car was very clean and we felt very safe. Thank you for the most relaxing sailing trip! Highly recommended!

Very well organised. Kind guide, Essra, pick-up and drop- off from hotel well organised in a quality card ( a quite new Toyota) and some complementary snacks (water, juice and biscuits). The trip on the boat really nice and calm with a real fisherman. Amazing views to the river bank buildings. Please always give some tip to the boat man and the travel guide. It is not mandatory but it is well deserved as per their good job!!!

Loved it! We did the trip after a long flight from SA and found it relaxing and calming. Just the right thing to do to get us going again for the rest of the Cairo sights. And the guide was on time, friendly and efficient. Next time, were doing a 2-hour trip because it was over way to soon.
