I could have definitely done without this. The guide was great and very knowledgeable. But it was very depressing and I felt constantly being asked for money because it is where the poorest of the poor live.

Hoch interessant ! Zunächst scheute sich der insgesamt sehr freundliche ältere Führer, der stets Getränke und kleine Süßigkeiten zur Stärkung bereit hatte, wohl ein wenig, mir die Realität zu zeigen und wich etwas aus, dann kamen wir aber doch dorthin, wo die Menschen, die sich kein eigene Wohnung leisten können, in den Grabhäusern ihrer Verstorbenen auf dem Friedhof wohnen. Eine merkwürdige Atmosphäre zwischen Leben und Tod, aber sehr erlebenswert, zumal sich nur wenige Touristen dorthin verirren und man dadurch einen recht individuellen Eindruck des Lebens in Kairo bekommt. Mein freundlicher Führer wusste dann auch viel Interessantes zu berichten über die Lebensumstände, wir konnte mit seiner Hilfe sogar in einige der Grab- und Wohnanlagen hinein und er erreichte es, dass ich in zwei sogar fotografieren durfte. Sehr empfehlenswert, ein liebenswerter, kundiger Führer !
