Overview

Tour one of New Zealand’s up-and-coming wine regions the easy way from Christchurch on this hassle-free day trip. Giles was an excellent guide with such an enthusiasm for sharing his extreme knowledge of wine with us. We learned a lot and it was much more than a normal wine tasting tour. The wines offered at the 3 wineries were very good and the lunch offering was more than ample. Would highly recommend Giles!!

Wonderful Waipara, Wonderful Wine

Blessed with the weather, stunning scenery and only an hour or so out of Christchurch. The wineries visited were diverse in size, produced a variety of wines and made us feel very welcome. The tastings were generous and information on each was extensive. An individual platter was served to each guest for lunch and the food was superb. We would have liked more time at each venue but guess we will just have to rebook and do another tour with Giles.

He put together a personalized tour of 3 wineries in the area, had extensive knowledge of the wines and the region, and great relationships with each of the wineries we visited. Second rate uncomfortable van with unknowledgeable driver

This is not a wine tour- it is a trip a cheap van with dreadful uncomfortable seats that are not fit for purpose. Giles knows nothing about wine but thinks he does so his constant talking about something he knows nothing about becomes irritating - he likes low end wines so took us to low end vineyards with unmemorable wines- he seems to think tasting a lot a wine equals a good tour. There was no lunch included just a small plate of bad food out of a supermarket deli and very small portions of it as well. Unfortunately he ate with us so even the supposed lunch was him droning on. Don't waste your money

Sorry Maggie - This review is very much at odds with other peoples experiences. We go to the best wineries in Waipara and they all have multiple award winning wines and have been carefully chosen for the quality of their products. . I have 40 years experience in the wine trade and have WSET qualifications - I'm sorry if you thought I droned on but the vast majority of my clients very much appreciate the depth and quality of my knowledge - as do the winery owners. The car I use currently is a 2018 Toyota Previa - it is not a van, however it is fully air conditioned and provides a smooth and quiet ride. I am very sorry that this tour didn't live up to your expectations.
