    Your tour will depart one hour after your cruise arrives to port from Plaza Las Fuentes, just a few steps away from Costa Maya Port. Once your reservation is confirmed, we will send you detailed and easy to follow directions to the meeting point and a map. Please consider the total time to walk from your cruise to the excursion office is about 15 minutes. IMPORTANT Travelers coming by cruise ship must provide the ship's full name.

    You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

    • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
    • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
    • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
    • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
    • This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

    I found this tour by searching online and reading the reviews. Our tour guide was Edder and our driver was Edgar. They were both very pleasant and Edder was quite knowledgeable about the places we visited and passed. The Mayan ruins were very interesting and the Bacalar lagoon beautiful. The lunch was fabulous and drinks were included. Some in my family enjoyed kayaking on the lagoon and enjoyed the views, including orchids and bromeliads in one of the coves. One suggestion would be to add hooks to the bathroom doors at Bacalar Lagoon Resort to facilitate changing. I recommend this tour.

    Great Excursion

    Our guide suggested less time at the ruins and more time at the lagoon due to the heat which was much appreciated! The ruins are worth seeing (bigger structures than Talum). My 13 year old wasn’t impressed but that’s a teenager for you. The tacos at lunch were delicious! Even the teenagers like them. It was all you could eat. The lagoon is gorgeous and was very refreshing after the ruins. We thought there was paddle boarding as well as kayaking but it’s just kayaking which was ok. The current where you launch was kind of strong and a paddle board would be tricky. It’s very rocky so you may want to consider water shoes. We just went off the ladder, swam out and kept our feet up. They weren’t small pebble type rocks, more like small under water boulders. Getting out of the port is an absolute cluster!!! Once you make it out, go left and walk towards pyramid and the kiosk is on the right. I was very confused but I’m also directionally challenged. The guides dropped us off right by the road to the port with plenty of time to make it back to our ship. I was worried about getting left but our guide was very attentive to the return time. If you’re looking for something adventurous this isn’t your excursion. If you want to see historic ruins and relax by beautiful water, this is a good one!

    Worth the cost, was a good time

    Lorenzo was great & got us back to our ship on time. We ended up waiting almost an hour for a late couple, which was a bit unfortunate as we didn’t have any free time at the end of the excursion. The Lagoon was beautiful, drinks and lunch served after an hour swim. Chicken & pork were great! Ruins were really neat, some walking through the “jungle” which took about 15-20mins. I have a bad knee and opted out of the last bit where you climbed about 15-20 big steps.

    A perfect Day from start to finish!!! The tour guide was knowledgeable and we felt safe and cared for. We had about 30 mins at the lagoon and we had a nice meal there. Wish it was a lil longer to have time for kayaking but overall this was a great excursion!

    The ruins were just amazing and not over run with tourists, which was quite a pleasant surprise. Our tour guide Ivan was extremely knowledgeable on Mayan history and was patient in answering all our questions. Despite the heat, it was an amazing experience. The Bacalar lagoon was magical! And such a welcome swim after a very hot morning at the ruins. The tacos were delicious too. It was a perfect day and this tour should not be missed! It’s one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide Margie and driver Edgar were just fabulous and made the trip extra fun. Thank you Viatour!

    We learned a lot about the Chacchoben ruins and the Mayan people from our knowledgeable guide Erick. He and Alan took good care of us at the ruins, providing water and making no one was separated from the group. We then went to the beautiful Bacalar lagoon for a delicious meal and a refreshing swim. Kayaks were available for use as well. We had a great day!

    It was a great tour and our team who accompanied us (driver Avel, guide Eric, and Specialist on Mayan culture Evan) were very attentive. We liked very much the lecture about Mayan ruins by Evan. Eric was helping to everyone, he also gave us lots of information on the Costa Maya, and general questions as well. We were very pleased to go on a beach and spend time there. We very recommend this excursion.

    a little confusing to get to as you have to enter the cruise ship port completely and go towards the giant pyramid just outside of the gate. Great service Great informative guide and we had a wonderful time at the ruins and the lagoon as well! we'll do this again

    Really well organised. Takes about 20 mins from pier to pickup, but exceptionally well run beyond that. Smaller group really made the most of the attractions and didn’t feel slowed down by the masses from the ship! Our guides were Ivan, Miguel and Alan who were great, and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back!

    Professional, pleasant experience. However the one big negative was the difficulty finding the excursion office, which was not close to the ship dock and no detailed instructions were provided for finding it. Very frustrating!

    Tour starts outside the dock. Poor directions given to meeting spot. No office where you meet, standing outside on the street. Bathrooms are public, with no toilet seats, doors or toilet paper. Bus, guide, and food were good.

    Our tour guides Diego, Miguel and Alan were great. They were very informative of the ruins, gave time to explore, and answer all questions. The Bacalar Lagoon was private and not crowded by the hundreds of cruise tours. We chose to book with here instead of through the cruise and our group was roughly 12 instead of the groups of 50+ we were passing. Along the way Diego gave information of the natives and their way of life. Great experience

    Good trip but needs less time at ruins and more at lagoon. Also road to lagoon needs mentioning that very bumpy and uncomfortable for 2 miles on way to lagoon. Guides very pleasant and informative. Food and drinks plentiful and delicious.

    This was THE BEST excision ever! Our driver, Diego, was amazing! The whole experience was 10 out of 10! The pick up and drop off easy! The ruin tour was incredible, Diego was very knowledgeable! The lunch, delicious!!! And top it off with swimming and kayaking in the most beautiful place! We highly recommend this excursion!!!
