We were meet at the cruise port, as promised and taken to the railway station. The train journey was lovely and the guide kept us informed of all the things to look out for. A coach was waiting for us at Avoca and we continued our tour visiting a weaving mill and the town where Ballykissangel was filmed. A visit to a monastic ruin and then back to our cruise ship, with time to spare. The only criticism would be the choice of venue for lunch (rather expensive). All in all a very enjoyable tour.
Cancelled and no refund AVOID Viator

Useless. Cancelled by Ireland Rail, and Viator NEVER responded to 4 or 5 emails sent through their Reply button. Still no refund, or anything. Terrible service. Was on a cruise and thought I booked 2 days of excursions thru this terrible company, never assisted or even responded. Silliness of their website and service is they have a Reply button, sent 4 or 5 email replies with no response until after 5 and get an automated reply that not a monitored> If not monitored, and no automated reply, why not after 1st 4? Have used this company before but after this total lack of service assistance, NEVER will again. Cost me over $500 to effect cover and use cruise lines for alternative .

We were met at the cruise terminal by Liam who accompanied us and gave us informed commentaries throughout. Liam is a pleasant and humorous gentleman and knowledgeable tour guide. It was a pleasant and relaxing way of seeing a little corner of Ireland in the limited time we had available.

we only had one day in ireland on this cruise and did not want the busy time in dublin, we chose this tour of the countryside that included a lovely railcar ride. we were met at the ship by our guide and taxied to train station, this was the only negative comment i have, it was a little disorganized getting to the busy train station from the taxi. our guide was very knowledgeable and cordial, we enjoyed a tour of the voca village and mills and then on to the lovely views of the wicklow mt area. we saw a lot in a short time and also enjoyed a fabulous lunch (price not included in the tour itself) in a lovely little restaurant in voca. i would recommend this tour. certainly 1/2 the price of the same trip offered by the cruise ship. we were also given a guarantee to be back on time and we were with no worries or problems.

I booked this thru Viator rather than the cruise ship because I think you get a better (smaller) tour and more personalized experience. Getting picked up at the port and to the railway to meet our guide was a little disorganized, and while the guide was a lovely elderly gentleman, we had trouble hearing and understanding him. But the trip was beautiful. A highlight was visiting the Avoca loom factory :)
