From Fornacette you drive up the mountain in the direction of Polvereto. After about 1.5 km turn left onto the dirt road, in Via Montetermini. After about 300m, after a tight right-hand bend, the parking place is in front of my rose-colored house on the right-hand side. I await my guests there.

We were unfortunately unable to go to this at the last minute. However, up until that point, the host was very communicative and helpful. If the class was anything like the directions she gave before, it would have been amazing.

What a great find this was. Was looking for something unique to do in Tuscany and this was brilliant. From melting our silver balls to creating a special pair of earrings Dorthe was friendly flexible and hospitable who welcomed us into her home and workshop. Highly recommend this traditional artisan jewellery class. So much fun.

Please know that if you are staying in Florence this activity is not in or very near Florence and probably best attended only if you have a car. I booked this because it looked like a very unique activity for myself and my older kids but after much communication with the artist we were not able to find the correct bus to her location. The artist refused to refund any of our payment. I understand she is an artist and this is her livelihood but I also feel like it was unfair to not refund any of the payment since we were not able to get there based on the information provided. We bought the bus fare and spent 1-2 hours trying to get there. It is unfortunate all the way around but I cannot recommend this activity based on my experience. I wish it had been clear to me how complicated it was to get there (buses are not easy to navigate like trains in Florence).

You booked the class 3 weeks before and I told you to look where the bus departs. It is easy, many people did it before. You told me, that your daughter knows where the bus station is. I gave you all indications and time tables from the bus. You changed two times the beginning time and it was no problem. I organized my day and organized to pick you up at the bus station. In the morning of the day we wanted to do the class you told me, that your daughter cannot come. You did not checked out before neighter where the bus departs nor where you can by tickets. I don't think that it was my fault. I sended you more messages and was ready to change the start time again and wait for you. After a while you told me, that you tried to come but there was no way... This is my work and I have to live from the classes. I did not have a possibility to do another class this day and I am very sorry that we did not have the class toghether, because I love my work!

A fantastic way to spend part of the day. Took the bus from Florence to San Casciano in the morning and Dörthe picked us up there. The drive through the country side was very nice and the views are beautiful. At Dörthe's place she walked us through the forging and creative process. She was very knowledgeable and fun to learn from. I think we'd both love to do it again one day

Dörthe made the entire experience memorable. We really enjoyed the beautiful countryside on the way to her shop which is about 35 minutes outside of Florence, Italy as well as the hands on experience. We’ve never done this type of work but wanted to take a chance by doing a class different than our other adventures whilst on vacation. Dörthe knows her trade very well and is a great teacher who allowed us to decide what jewelry to make then to craft our own pieces but was there throughout the process to help when we needed it. She’s very patient and pleasant to work with.

ENG. If you what to spend a day doing something different and special, this activity may be perfect for you! You have the possibility to create your own jewel from the beginning to the end, completely by yourself. Dörthe is very kind and prepared and she let you to do all the work: it’s a very hands-on activity, very enjoyable and satisfying, perfect to be done alone, in couple but also with kids. While we were there Dörthe offered us something to drink and eat, the atmosphere and the location were really pleasant and suggestive. The place is easy to reach and the experience is worth the price! ITA. Se voleste passare una giornata facendo qualcosa di diverso e speciale, potrebbe fare al caso vostro. Si ha la possibilità di creare dei gioielli completamente personalizzati, dall’inizio alla fine, è completamente in autonomia. Dörthe è molto gentile e preparata, e lascia che sia tu a svolgere tutto il lavoro: è un’attività molto pratica, piacevole e soddisfacente, perfetta per essere svolta da soli, in coppia ma anche con bambini. Mentre eravamo lì Dörthe ci ha offerto da mangiare e da bere, e sia l’atmosfera sia la location sono state piacevoli e suggestive. Il posto è facile da raggiungere e l’esperienza vale quello che costa!
