What To Expect

Meet your guide in central Florence, and hop aboard a minivan with your group that will transport you to the Tuscan hills. Once outside of the city, begin with a safety briefing and orientation to ensure that you feel comfortable riding before you hit the road. This small group tour is limited to 15 people to keep the experience as intimate as possible.

Then saddle up on your single- or double-seater Vespa and begin your ride along the scenic hillside, with stops for photo opportunities and the guided visit of two wineries. Your guide will lead you to a castle for a relaxing lunch, including tastings of famous Chianti wines and fine olive oils, all locally produced.

After satisfying your taste buds, you’ll head back toward Florence, enjoying the fresh air and panoramic views before your Vespa tour concludes.

Please note: You must present a valid drivers license, but do not need a motorcycle license. Children 12-18 years can ride as a passenger. It is highly recommended that you have previous driving experience on a Vespa, scooter or motorcycle.

A valid driving license is required (although you do not need a motorcycle license), make sure you have it with you on the tour, and you must be at least 18 years of age to drive, at least 13 years to be a passenger

Previous experience is not required but advantageous and highly advised. The tour operator reserves the right of final judgement in client participation of actual scooter driving or in client being a passenger, or to discontinue scooter use at any point of the tour. Any participant unable to drive scooters safely may ride double with a partner, or on the guide’s scooter if available or continue the tour on board one of our support vehicles (the Tuscany Tuk Tuk or the minivan, depending which is available) if unable to be a safe passenger as well. No refund will be granted in this case. Our first and foremost concern is everyone's safety
The Single Vespa and Double Vespa tour options entitle clients to ride the original Piaggio Vespas, but Piaggio Zip scooters (which are lighter and easier to ride) are also available (Smaller scooter option)
A third-party insurance for civil liability is included in the price of the tour. Please note that clients will be given the option to subscribe an additional insurance against vehicle damages
Please let us know in advance any special need or impaired mobility of the clients, and we will do our best to accommodate them
RAIN POLICY: The tour runs rain or shine (but please see below). The tour departure will never be cancelled due to rain. We will do our best to proceed with the tour, avoiding the rain and thus possibly carrying out the tour with our minivan until and if the rain should stop and street conditions will guarantee a safe ride. If it does not stop raining, the entire tour will be conducted in the safety and comfort of the minivan. Guest options on rainy days: 1) Proceed with the tour hoping for clearing weather – PARTIAL RIDE or NO RIDE due to heavy RAIN Customers can decide to proceed with the tour hoping for clearing weather with the understanding that if scooters are not ridden at all due to rain, or if the Vespa tour is dramatically abbreviated due to rain, customers will NOT be granted any refund or discount. We will do our best to get you on a scooter, weather permitting. 2) Rain check (of the same amount clients paid) to be used the following day or at any other time, subject to availability. The Rain check is a voucher given to client. The voucher is transferable and may be sold or given to others to use at a future date and lasts up to 1 year from date. It has a value that can be possible used in any other tour provided by our company. Please note that clients' safety and comfort are of utmost priority, and proper rain gear is mandatory for guests choosing to "ride in the rain". We ask clients to be at the meeting point 15 minutes before the tour departure, to check the weather conditions and choose accordingly. No-shows will not be refunded.

The maximum load the Vespa can tolerate is 170 kg / 374 lbs (whether one or two people, bags included). At check-in, Towns of Italy reserves the right to exclude participants from this tour if these requirements are not met. No refund will be due
This tour option entitles client to ride the iconic original PIAGGIO VESPA or Electric VESPA, but PIAGGIO ZIP scooters (which are smaller) are also available (SMART OPTION)
For the double Vespa two persons are required (1 driver & 1 passenger)
This tour/activity will have a maximum of 15 travelers

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.

Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

Hader, Chiara, Emma, and Mauricio were incredible guides and made this trip wonderful! I especially enjoyed Hader’s skill with making the history of the area fun and approachable and Chiara’s patient instructing style. Everyone was really friendly and seemed passionate to show us Chianti. We felt so safe with them as our guides. The experience was really fun and definitely made me want to return to Tuscany on the back of a Vespa. I recommend upgrading to the “real” Vespa if it’s available. Hader is also excellent at photographs, I think he took the best photo of me and my husband that’s ever been taken lol thanks to the whole crew!

This was a highlight of our holiday and very happy that we did it. Our guides, Haider, Yo and Frederica were all fantastic they looked after the group and made sure everyone was together and ok while riding, the views were just amazing and after riding we all had lunch at a winery that was beautiful and not what I was expecting. I would highly recommend doing this activity.

Dear Jennie, We thank you for your feedback, however it seems to us a bit imprecise. It's true that the tire of one Vespa got a bit flat during the tour, however that Vespa was quickly replaced and its rider was able to continue the experience without problems. However, we seem to recall that this problem did not affect you directly. Before the start of the tour, our guests are informed that they have to pass a little drive test, in order to make sure that each participant in the group can ride safely. Those who don't pass the test can follow the rest of the group anyway on our substitute vehicle (van or tuktuk) and enjoy the rest of the experience. We can see your disappointment for not passing the drive test. However, we can assure you that safety is our first and foremost priority, and our tour guides' decision was based solely on that reason. We could put your or other guests' safety at risk. We are sorry you did not enjoy the experience at all for this reason. We hope we'll have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future and to let you live a memorable day this time. Tuscany is beautiful & it was a great day despite the weather. We were unable to ride the Vespa’s due to the rain but they offered us the tour by van. I gave the tour a 3 star as our guide was very quiet & only talked when asked a question in the van. He was very nice but we really like to learn about areas we visit. We all paid $20 euro cash at the head office prior to leaving in the van for insurance on the vespas & then when weather didn’t allow us to ride we were told we would get our deposits back. The office was closed when we returned & the guide offered no solution. I will be reaching out directly for a refund. The vineyard we visited for a tour, wine tasting & dinner was amazing!

Amazing experience all around!!! Book it! The hosts -Haidar Sofie and Heather did excellent job in every way. They took guest safety serious and made sure everyone was able to drive safely before taking off. Driving was a little intense with the other vehicles on the road but the hosts were incredible at keeping everyone safe and making sure had amazing time. Brief stop in town of Greve was beautiful, driving the Vespa’s was so much fun, stopped for beautiful pictures in countryside, then off to winery which was amazing. We bought a case of wine to ship to US because so good. Every part was incredible, they even shared the best restaurants to go to local. Amazing hosts made the experience truly unforgettable. We spent over 2 weeks touring Italy and this gave us the excitement of Vespas, the beauty of countryside and towns and an amazing wine and lunch experience. Even for the guest that didn’t pass the driving test they did amazing job making sure had just as much fun.

Just wanted to start off by saying it’s not easy to ride a Vespa especially when you only have a few laps around a ver short dirt path. I opted not to ride. My friend also didn’t ride but we rode in an ancient golf cart kind of vehicle and it was bumpy but kinda fun, like a big open air baby carriage. We saw breathtaking sites on our ride. My husband absolutely loved riding the Vespa through the Tuscan countryside. While it was a little dangerous riding on the streets with cars, he really enjoyed it. I was a little nervous because of the winding streets, but he really loved it. Our tour guides were great and the winery they took us to was beautiful and the lunch was good!

10/10 trip and 10/10 tour guides!

This trip was so great! Our tour guides, Sophie, Hadier, and (I forgot the shorter gal’s name) were awesome! They kept the trip fun and added the perfect amount of jokes! I would highly recommend this trip to anyone coming to the Tuscany countryside! 10/10

Amazing Vespa Tour with a 3-Course Lunch & a little wine

This tour was SO fun!! My Husband and I went as part of our honeymoon and we had such a good time! It's definitely not a wine tour on vespas, but that's okay because that could be a little dangerous haha. We were picked up at the tour office, had a comfy ride for about 20/25 mins to the Vespa location in the countryside. There they had everyone try out a smaller/cheaper scooter to assess skill level. We had booked a Double Vespa so we both tried out the driving, but it was too nerve-wracking for me, so my Husband did all of the driving and I was a Passenger Princess (highly recommend this strategy). After the test drive we took off into the hills of Chianti and had a great time seeing all the beauty in Tuscany. The tour leaders were AMAZING on the roads! We had 3 leaders for our group - one at the front, one at the rear and one in flex who would make sure all stops, turns, and anything that could be more dangerous was safe for all of us! We then stopped in Greve for about 45 mins and were given a sandwich snack. The sandwich was just a bun with salami so it was a little pathetic, but my Husband LOVED the salami. In Greve, as a Passenger Princess, I was able to indulge in a glass of Chianti Classico at a local cafe and enjoy a cornetto. My Husband had to wait to drink until after the vespa part. After our visit in Greve, we took a quick stop at a church in the hills (that's where the main photo op is) and then headed back to the vespa headquarters. We dropped them off and then walked to Diadema Wine Bar & Restaurant. There we were given a three course meal of caprese salad, burrata pesto pasta & tiramisu which was unexpected and DELICIOUS. With Lunch we had 2 glasses of white wine. After lunch we went to the wine tasting room and tried olive oil and 3 different wines. It was pretty good wine, but also felt a little bit like a sales pitch more than anything. Overall, the tour was so fun and I would do it again in a heartbeat! We even had a man in our tour group who was doing it for the 4th time!! The Tour guides were so friendly and kind too!

This was a great experience. My partner and I rode together which was fun because then we were having the space vespa experience. The guides were thorough with their safety checks which made me feel safer and they offered interesting tidbits on our way to the vespa site. I wasnt expecting the actual vespa driving to be as long as it was so that was a bonus and the views were spectacular. The dinner and wine tasting afterwards was fun and delicious.

This was a highlight of our 9 day trip to Italy. The guides were amazing, made sure everyone in our group of 13 were safe throughout the whole ride through the hills of Tuscany and to Chianti. Once we got back from our ride we walked to a local winery and had an exceptional lunch and wine tasting. Would highly recommend this tour.

Wow Fabulous time with Antonio Yo and Giovanni Well organized fun. We travelled about 20k total stopping to take scenic pictures and then landed in a beautiful village had a traditional sandwich walked about Market as the bells chimed from church upon return of Vespas we were transported to the most amazing winery for tour tasting and dinner the owner we so warm and friendly the whole experience was amazing and priceless

This was so fun! One of the best activities we have ever done. The guides we’re really great. They were funny and ensured everyone stayed safe. You will have to pass a test to make sure you can safely drive the Vespa. My husband and I both have no experience driving vespas, but we passed our test! You drive through the BEAUTIFUL Tuscan countryside for about 40 mins and then eat some sandwiches and walk around the town Chianti in Greve. Cute little town! Then you drive your vespas back to the starting point and walk to a stunning winery! Here you are served a 3 course lunch with wine and then you do a wine tasting after. There was so much included in this experience! 10000% worth every penny. Experience of a lifetime. Our guides Leonardo, Hiader, and Alessandro were incredible! They chatted with us, gave us advice about traveling in Florence and felt like friends by the end of the experience! If we find ourselves lucky enough to come back to Florence in the future, we will 100% be booking this tour again!
