What To Expect

This Death Valley tour begins with a hotel pickup in Las Vegas followed by a drive to Death Valley National Park in the Mojave Desert.

Upon arrival, visit Zabriskie Point to experience one of the park’s most famous views — a maze of wildly eroded and vibrantly colored badlands. Then travel the scenic loop through the multi-hued hills of Artist’s Drive to the Badwater Basin, the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere at 282 feet below sea level. This surreal landscape features one of the largest protected salt flats in the world — too harsh for most plants and animals to survive in. You'll also experience one of the most impressive views in Death Valley: Dante’s Peak, a mountaintop overlook more than 5,000 feet above the valley.

Along the way, learn about Death Valley’s history, landscape, and wildlife, plus the urban legends of ghost towns and long-abandoned gold mines. A boxed lunch and plenty of bottled water are included.

Finally, make a brief stop at the Furnace Creek Visitor Center to browse some of the books for sale and collect a Death Valley stamp for a National Park passport, if desired.

The tour ends with a return trip to Las Vegas and a hotel drop-off.

Death Valley is Great in the Spring
Marie_R, Mar 2024
The pick up and drop off communications were great. The van was nice as well as our lunch and the amount of water. Guide was good- had relative info for the trip. The others on the tour where not interested in discussions or asking questions so I virtually had a private tour with the guide. He allowed me to explore trails when we stopped and took pictures for me when I asked.
Death Valley Tour Not To Be Missed
Glenda_R, Mar 2024
What a memorable day! Our tour was comprised of our guide, Hogan, me and one other person. Hogan gave informative commentary on the ride out and throughout the day. We had sufficient time at each stop. Our lunch was very good. The scenery in this park is unbelievable and definitely worth a visit. We got so much information that we wouldn't have gotten doing it on our own. I know I can't give credit to the tour company for the weather but we had a perfect day. I highly recommend this tour.
Great experience!

Stunning Landscapes

Pickup and drop off was on time. Our guide, Joel, was extremely knowledgeable about the human and geological history of Death Valley. He regaled us with tales of colorful characters while expertly driving us around various viewpoints. Having a small group facilitated individualized attention to our interests. Every turn in the road and every stop had us snapping many photos. We were lucky enough to see a coyote! The boxed lunch was delicious. It was a long day but well worth it. I highly recommend this tour and guide. Thanks again!

Awesome Dylan!!
JAGADISH_S, Jun 2023
Dylan is the best tour guide ever. He was on time, gave enough photo time at the various attractions, kept th small group in excellent humor and did an awesome job of ensuring the group got double their monies worth. Drove skillfully through some of the most challenging routes across the Death Valley National Park. Kudos to Dylan.
Response from Host, Jun 2023
Thank you for your review and feedback, both are appreciated. Wonderful to hear that Dylan was a great guide! We are glad you had a great time and hope to see you again.
1 day on another planet
Sylvie_E, May 2023
Breathtaking landscapes! And a paradise for geologists ;-) Maybe a 1 day tour is a little bit tight but still worth it.
Response from Host, May 2023
Thanks Sylvie, you could spend a week or more exploring all of these beautiful places! We do offer longer tours for guests with more time. We are glad you enjoyed your tour.
excellent

The constantly changing views, colors, rock formations, etc., was beautiful. Also, our driver/guide was very good with his narrative.
Day trip to Death Valley National Park
Wenting_C, Feb 2023
My kids and I had a nice experience touring the Death Valley National Park, visited all key spots/attractions. We were given plenty of time at each stop; our tour guide Indy was very professional and knowledgeable. My older one was particularly engaged. I knocked off 1 star for the quality of lunch. For $259/person I would expect better quality of food and more varieties (my son was still hungry after eating his portion and mine). Also, the other party in our group used iPhone so photo sharing was easier with airdrop, however since I'm using an Android phone, Indy said he could text the photo to me, I have not received them yet. Overall worth the trip, will recommend to others.

Thank you for your review. Death Valley is fasinating park. Our lunches are gourmet boxed lunches made fresh by a local deli each morning and include a sub, chips, fruit cup and a cookie. We know growing children can eat alot! We do make regular stops on this tour for guests to top up with snacks and drinks as needed. Throughout the day. Thanks for travelling with us!
Awesome 😎 experience

This was the best day tour by far that I have experienced. Chris, our guide was very knowledgeable and the way he tells stories on an upcoming attraction of the tour made our tour experience very interesting. I highly recommend taking this tour to fully understand and enjoy what Death Valley National Park has to offer. Lunch was great 👍

Great Park, Not So Great Tour Guide.
Curiosity561730, Mar 2019
Pick up/drop was easy and as expected. Van was clean and comfortable. The trouble began with tour guide- he seemed to lack solid knowledge of the formations/desert sights we were seeing. Moreover, nothing was conveyed in a concise or cohesive manner as most tour guides do. The whole car ride to the park was full of our guide's incessant chatter about his own personal stories about life in Nevada. Yet, when we visited the desert sights most of us had no idea which locations he had brought us to! All his talk was for nothing- we really didn't get a good idea about what we were seeing. I think, all in all, Death Valley is an amazing place to visit but I would have rather gone without our guide or used another tour group. Last note- lunch was not good at all, especially for the price paid per person. It consists of Jenny-O sandwich meat on a soggy roll, a bag of lays chips, water and a cookie someone packed in a sandwich bag.

Our guide was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable about the geographic and human history of the area. Highly recommend this trip!
Hot but Fascinating
david_j, Jul 2018
119 degrees! But an excellent trip led by an excellent guide (Kriss).Very informative about geology, history of the area, natural history, early settlers etc.At this temperature though you can't be away from the air conditioning of the minibus more than say 10 minutes.Very good add on to the Grand Canyon and adjacent parks (which we had just done). Minibus fine for a day trip but would be a bit cramped for a longer trip.

For the money this was a poor tour...
DENISE_W, Oct 2017
For the money this was a poor tour. It cost quite a lot of money and I had expected much more. The amount of time actually spent in Death Valley was minimal. Our visit to Furnace Creek consisted of sitting under a tree with a sandwich. The so called picnic left a lot to be desired. My own was ordered specifically for a vegetarian and was as sloppy roll with some salad...not even a slice of cheese! the guide never stopped for breath...most of his nattering was about himself, his interest in reading and the stories he had read. Spend your hard earned cash eslewhere.
Response from Host, Oct 2017
Hi Denise, We are so sorry that you felt your Death Valley tour was not up to standard. Our vegetarian lunch comes with cheese. The salad comes separately so that you can add tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber to your choice. Your lunch also comes with a fruit cup, potato chips and a cookie. On the date that you visited Death Valley the Furnace Creek picnic area was under construction unannounced and all other available picnic tables were taken so your guide offered the best available alternative that he could. We will address your comment about your guide talking too much, you should have some quiet time to enjoy the beautiful drive on the way back to Las Vegas.
The scale of Death Valley is awesome...
NEIL_H, Sep 2017
The scale of Death Valley is awesome and stunning. Our guide Kriss from Brindlestiff Tours really helped to make the day very special. We were collected on time at 0800 at our hotel New York New York. Once in the area, stops at several points, display the uniqueness of the place. It's hot as you would expect, but cold water and air conditioning in the coach helped alleviate matters. The standard tour visits Dante's View, Zabriski Point, Devils Golf Course, Badwater and the Artist's Palette. We were returned to our hotel at 1700 hours. Brilliant a Day.

Kriss was an excellent tour guide! He's knowledgeable, articulate, and a very nice guy. It was cooler than usual, 108 degrees. Wow! Be prepared for the heat. The route and views were very good. Great stops for time to stretch and take awesome photos. The van was fairly comfortable however leg room was limited. Overall, we're very glad we booked it. Viator delivered once again!

Driver should listen to the needs of the passengers. There is no need for the driver to talk all day, narrating interesting points yes but I did not like an not all day loud narration.

Alisa K, Jun 2017
Pros: I can only give high rating to our guide Joel C. He was knowledgable and friendly. There was plenty of water provided. Cons: Everything else was disappointing - the van was too small for 11 people, seats were VERY uncomfortable for such a long drive my friend is 5'4 and even she complained there was no space for a small backpack and not enough cup/bottle holders. The four stops we did were VERY short 10-20min, but we had lunch for an hour. Why? Doesn't seem to be well planned. 15 minis not enough time to enjoy the amazing views and take pictures because we needed to do a bit of walk on most of the stops to get to the photo opportunity. It was VERY frustrating that we were always rushed to come back to the van. The guide would not start the van and A/C until all people from the group came back. Why? The lunch sandwich was bottom-of-barrel.

TOUR OPERATOR COMMENT: Thank you for your review feedback. We are sorry to hear there were some aspects of your tour that you did not enjoy. Please be aware, we use brand new 2017 15-passenger touring vehicles with individual reclining seats, enlarged viewing windows, stand-up room and charging points for phones/cameras. As there were only 11 guests on your tour, you are always welcome to move to a spare seat and spread out if desired. All 15 seats have ample storage underneath for day packs. We typically allow 15-20 mins per stop, however, in the extreme summer heat that Death Valley is famous for guests often opt for less time than that outside the van. Lunch is prepared fresh daily and includes a fresh sub of your choice, a fruit cup, cookie and and packet of potato chips. Lunch is taken at Furnace Creek which offers a chance to visit the gift shop, Borax museum, post office and multiple mining exhibits. We find that for most guests 45 mins to 1 hour is the perfect amount of time to see everything that this area has to offer. With regards to starting the van whilst waiting for guests- this practice is strongly forbidden by the park service for environmental reasons- no tour buses are permitted to do this and attempt to do do is a direct violation of our operating permit into this and all national parks. Walking is also strictly prohibited in the summer due to extreme heat dangers and as such this tour is advertised as a sightseeing tour rather than a walking tour. Again, we are sorry this tour did not meet your expectations, but we are glad to hear you enjoyed your time with our fantastic guide, Joel.
