What To Expect

Your afternoon pub tour begins at St. Paul's, where you will meet your guide and set off for the first stop of your tour. As you walk, check out city attractions like St. Paul's Cathedral and the bustling Fleet Street. Pass the site of a Shakespearean playhouse, then pop into the art nouveau Blackfriars for a drink. Grab a pint (own expense) and enjoy colorful stories from this neighborhood's banking community.

Next, head down Fleet Street, flush with pubs and gin palaces to service the journalists and literary greats of the day. Stop at a proper London boozer for a civilized drinking experience. Buy yourself a delicious local ale (or two), admire the authentic medieval decor, and enjoy the buzz as regulars and newcomers fill up the wooden tables surrounding the horseshoe bar.

Continue along Fleet Street, the former stomping grounds of Charles Dickens, who once resided in Furnival’s Inn (now Holborn Bars). Visit a 17th-century pub that was a favorite of Dickens and fellow writers Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Alfred Lord Tennyson. Sip on a delicious beer and cider (not included) and soak up the literary history of the place.

Your tour ends at the edge of Covent Garden with plenty of time (and insider information) to continue the fun at another local pub.

Our group of 4 all enjoyed this fun tour. It was a great way to spend a few hours, guided by Wil who regaled us with interesting back stories for each of the pubs visited. The booking experience was easy and the communication on where to meet was thorough and easy to follow. Thanks

This was such a unique and fun tour! Dave was our guide and he was knowledgeable and hilarious. The pubs we went to were very different from each other, which kept it interesting as well. And the rhubarb cider at The Blackfriar is delicious, despite what any previous reviewer thinks!

Don’t plan on sitting much
Margaretwg50, Apr 2024
The bar crawl with history was very interesting as was our tour guide Freddy. The group of people from different countries was fun as well. The bars got more crowded as the day went on which made finding a place to sit and even stand difficult.
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Lovely review and London is definitely a city where the buzzy elbow-bending delights are savoured whilst vertical, and often enjoyed en plain aire if the sun ever pops out to say 'Hello!' Cheers!

Fun experience for a group of friends or family with adult children!
Matthew_L, Apr 2024
Visited 4 historic pubs that were fairly close to each other so there wasn’t much walking to each! The guide was friendly and knowledgeable and had good information about each location and historical facts about pubs. If you’re looking for a big pub crawl and crazy time then it’s probably not for you! It was a relaxed tour with a chance to have a drink at each pub and learn some history.
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Great to hear that you enjoyed the afternoon, and apologies for not quite hitting our usual 5* standards on this occasion. Cheers!
A marvelous tour!

Entertaining and Informative Afternoon
maureenernst, Apr 2024
We easily met up with our tour guide David at the assigned spot. We left right on time with 10 in attendance. David was informative and entertaining. We had a wonderful time. The highlight for us was the gin palace, The Viaduct Tavern. The gin infusions were amazing and the Newgate cells were creepily entertaining. Thank you for a great experience!
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Thank you for joining us and supporting these fine drinking establishments. Cheers!
