Parts of the Tower are not pushchair friendly due to the cobbled ground. Buggy parks are located in few areas.
If you get there by taxi, as the Welcome Centre is on a pedestrian street, tell the driver to drop you off on Petty Wales.

The Tower of London is mostly an outdoor site, you will only be indoors for part of the tour.
Please wear warm cothing during the winter.
This tour suitable for for kids older then 5 years, younger kids can join the tour without participating
Please be aware that the queue for the Crown Jewels can be long in the high season
You will see the Crown Jewels but guiding in the jewel house is not allowed
You will skip the tickets line but security checks are Inevitable

Fantastic family tour of Tower of London with Ben

First time to the Tower of London for our family of four including an 8 year old and a 5 year old. Pick up was outside the grounds and we didn't have to wait. We visited on February 10th so perhaps a quieter time of year. Wonderful experience with Ben who adjusted his story telling to keep the children entertained. They particularly liked the ideal spot for the changing of the guards ceremony in the grounds and the crown jewels. We even got to meet some beefeaters! Ben has great knowledge of the grounds and its history and it was an absolute pleasure to spend a few hours in his company.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t do the tour due to issues with the airlines (delayed flights). As a result of this, we couldn’t cancel the booking on time (policy says 24 hours before the tour). I sent a message to the tour manager and they quickly responded but they were not very flexible for rescheduling, and they didn't refund the money. Anyway, we ended up doing the tour on our own, and from the experience I can tell you that you don’t have to pay for this tour unless you want to learn all the details (probably unnecessary if you do it with young kids who don’t pay much attention anyway). The Tower was not busy at ( we went early in the morning , and this was at the beginning of April). In summary, make sure, meaning 100% you can make it or you won’t have a refund. I recommend to pay for the general entrance ticket and do it on your own. Save the money!

Superb family tour of the Tower of London

We had an exceptional tour of the Tower of London with Mehru. She was a wealth of knowledge and made the experience extra special for my 5 and 7 year old daughters. It isn't easy to keep kids interested in 3 hours of learning and walking (in the rain!) but Mehru was a true gem. She made the information accessible and fun for all of us!

Wonderful way to see the parts of the Tower that were most interesting to our children. Our guide Mehru was personable, engaging and very knowledgable. She really made the Tower come to life for our kids (boys ages 14, 12, and 8). Highly recommend this tour.

Tower of London - best tour of the week!

We toured the Tower of London with our kids (ages 8 and 5). Mehru was our guide and she was fantastic. She knows every detail about the Tower (it was impossible to stump her), has the perfect bedside manner, and timed everything just right. She tailored the entire 3 hours plus to our kids and our interests. Our daughter was most focused on the ravens - they were fascinating - and our son enjoyed the introduction to King Henry VIII and his crazy marriage history. She did the perfect mix of historical context and behind the scenes little nuggets to keep everyone interested throughout. We also missed the big crowds by starting early. The crowned jewels were also great.

Nice but not worth it

Great time overall - but for 3 hours it was very expensive - about 800 total. Our guide was very nice, and very knowledgeable about the tower, but he did not make it very "child" centric and we went into the tower with everyone else - nothing special. I think the standard entrance at 10am and the audio tour would have been just as good but for way less expense.
