I will start by saying that I will amend this review if I actually get contacted and the situation rectified. I made a mistake when booking and got the tour reservation on the wrong weekend. Completely my fault. When I got the notification that I was being charged for the tour a week earlier than I expected I immediately texted, emailed, and communicated through the website the issue. No response. Next day I tried again, no response. I mean, just write me back and say "too bad, you messed up." That would be better than total silence. But at least they got my money while I am not even on the continent. I am looking forward to my Spain trip next week. Luckily the other tours I booked are all for the correct day. Thanks to these jerks I went and confirmed them all. So there's a positive. Really disappointed in the lack of communication or desire to solve a seemingly minor issue.

Local English speaking guide was very good and knowledgeable. We met at their office conveniently located adjacent to the Plaza Mayor where the listening devices were distributed. The group of x24 was quite large, but that didn’t seem to matter for the 30min ramble through the points of interest on the way to the Palace. The Guide kept us all together and shared lots of interesting & useful tips along the way. When we arrived, we joined the Tour queue, which moved fairly quickly. We were joined by a couple of other guides and divided into x3 smaller groups for the Palace Tour. Once inside our guide carefully manipulated our tour to give us the best vantage points and time for photos at key locations, which was was quite an achievement given the huge number of visitors & other tours swarming through the Palace at the same time Having done many walking tours, one thing that did stand out was our guide’s tendency to walk & talk where appropriate, rather than having long periods of standing around and talking, which can be tedious Overall a great experience (and an amazing venue), probably a top #3 Thing To Do in Madrid. We also viewed the (included) Armoury Exhibition at the end which I’d definitely recommend not to skip

“Skip the Line” was not. Waited in line 30 minutes to go in. Tour guide’s English was difficult to understand. Tour guide was smirky, and condescending to women. The Palace was lovely, but much too crowded.

Our guide was very informative, provided great insights to various rooms and buildings. My only complaint is the size of the group was much too large -- around 30 guests -- to manage well and have a collaborative engagement with the guide. And because the group was large and this is an extremely popular place, people in the group would occasionally wander.

Enjoyable

Enjoyed our walk through the plaza and Palace. Pilar provided many interesting facts and got us interested in Spanish history to go back to hotel and researched further. The headphones crackled at a few points, possibly when we were near other guides but since we were a small group Pilar was able to talk to us without the headset and we could hear her fine.

Good tour, but didn't get what ws paid for

Paid a premium for small group skip-the-line, and art was neither. In fact, had to waiting in line over 40 minutes, causing us to have to leave the tour early to get to another engagement.

Skip the line is the way to go. Our tour guide was very informative. After touring the inside of the palace be sure and visit the armory, it is included in the tour. You can see all the horse armor ready battle and parades.

Beautiful places to see, not a skip the line tour

Our tour guide was very good. He was very knowledgeable. However, this was suppose to be a skip the line tour and we waited in line for an hour to get in. Very disappointed to have to wait in a crowd standing that long.

Well we were to have a small group tour of less than 12 and we had 22. We had skip the line and waited 45 minutes in line for the entry. We arrived 45 minutes early and weren’t told about the group size or offered to change our tickets. When I complainer, they wanted to tell me the Palace changed the rules TODAY!! Do they think I am stupid…. At the palace there were private tours, tours with 4 people, etc! DON’T USE THIS COMPANY!! Lies

We paid for a small group, 11 or less people. . We were in a group of 23. The tour group leader said the company does this often. Viator offered no refund or partial refund. They ignore the actual facts and rely on the tour operators response. I actually have pictures of the 21 people on the tour with us two, but somehow according to the local tour operator I was in a small group. Beware.

Palace visit was great and our guide was very sweet. Check in at the tour location was somewhat chaotic and desk attendant was very rude to others. The tour starts off with a walking tour of other palaces and monuments and you really do skip the line. There is a side entrance for groups. The individual entrance looked like Disneyland. For that alone, I would go in with a group. Palace was beautiful. Would recommend it as a stop during your time in Madrid.

30 people on an 11 person tour.

First we received a message changing our time from 10am to 1pm due to over booking. We arrived for our small group tour but we were sent out in a group of 30. After returning I checked and what we paid for was a maximum of 11 in the group.

Terrible day at the palace

Not the operators fault, however for some reason the palace was over crowded and we waited over an hour. Once we got close to the entrance, we were informed that our tour was canceled. Even though we were told no one would be getting in, there was over 500 people behind us still in line. We were asked to return our headsets and we would be refunded and then the guide left us. I believe due to the issue at the palace the tour operator had other reservations after ours that forced them to cancel ours. We understand from our tour guides this was an issue for all tours that day. Very unfortunate.
