Great History and Information; Minimal Tour of Coffee Farm

While the tour was filled with great information on the history of coffee globally and within Colombia, along with some great tastings and a tasty lunch, the actual visit of the coffee farm was very limited. We were hoping to really experience the actual farm but the tour was: sit down at entrance and listen to information on coffee, get dressed, walk up a small hill for pictures, then a quick walk in a single file line through one short path (maybe 100 yards all together), pick a couple coffee seeds (if nobody in front of you has already picked them), then sit back down for more background information on coffee. Neat to experience but less than what we were hoping for.

Amelia gave a great tour and explanation of the coffee growing to prep process in English. Be prepared to hike and navigate steep hillsides. Very scenic and the real thing.

Learning about Coffee

We got a lot of history about coffee and how to choose your coffee. We had many tastings of coffee and other beverages. The lunch that was provided was typical Colombian and delicious. We even got samples of ground coffee to take home. My only concern is the understated 'treacherous' terrain. It only said to wear shoes and not sandals as the ground is slippery. This was an understatement. There should have been a warning that if you had heart/walking issues, you SHOULD not do this tour. Our driver had to help an older lady on the tour to get up the mountain and back down again.

A Must-Do in Medellín!

This was probably the most interesting thing I did in my time in Medellín! The tour included everything from learning what the different stages of coffee beans look like to lunch, coffee tasting, and even some gifts to take home. I did the Spanish tour but they do have one that’s in English and had a blast. Honestly I would do this again if I could. Very nice and professional people, would recommend this to anyone.

Oh my goodness! What an amazing, immersive experience! Cristina is a really fabulous tour guide, and our driver, Juan , was fantastic. Every single person we met on the farm was so friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. This tour could not honestly have been any better. We did not know which tour to choose, but we hit the jackpot with this one. Wonderful experience! Learned so much about coffee. Climbed up into the bushes and picked coffee beans after learning how to select and dressing appropriately!! Tasting was quite interesting! and lunch was delicious. The young man who led our English-speaking group was the son of the owner and knew all of the ins and outs.

The tour guide, David, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly an expert on the coffee farming process and it was a very fun experience! Lunch was absolutely delicious and they accommodated any dietary restrictions or allergies. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as there is a lot of very steep climbing up and down the mountain. We had 3-4 tastings (about a 2 once size each), a snack, and lunch. They also gave complimentary coffee bag, it was awesome !

Amelia was a great tour guide. She made the coffee making process fun. A lot of information is shared. I do not recommend if you have mobility issues as you have to climb, steep, rocky and narrow pathways. Otherwise worth the trip!
