A full day of experience around Nairobi
Ezgi_E, Feb 2024
We only had a couple of days in Nairobi and this tour had everything we wanted to do all in one day. We booked almost a month prior to our visit. Our guide Stephen was ready to pick us up right on time and took us directly to Giraffe Center at the opening time. We were one of the first ones in there and got to feed the hungry giraffes their breakfast :) Stephen showed us how we could pet them while feeding and took great photos while we were enjoying the experience. Thanks to our guide we were also at the very front of the crowd to see the baby elephants in the orphanage. We also enjoyed our time in bead making place and watching traditional dances in Bomas of Kenya. The restaurant for lunch was also carefully picked and had a full selection of meals from traditional Kenyan to international. I recommend booking this tour.
Not really a guided tour
Shelby_T, Feb 2024
Visiting the giraffe centre and elephant orphanage were incredibly experiences that were the highlights of my 2-week trip. But this isn't really a guided tour - it is just a driver taking you from location to location. Even worse, the driver wasted 45 minutes at a rest stop that wasn't listed on the itinerary so we all stood around waiting while the merchants tried to sell us items we didn't want, as we had already had a rest and done shopping right before while at the Giraffe Centre. This then made us late for the elephant orphanage. Each location provide their own guides as part of admission and they are the one who tell you about the history and all relevant info. The elephant orphanage would be better to book separately because you are paying $45 for entry to Nairobi National Park, but on the tour, there is no time to enjoy it.
A great experience

Close and up personal with the giraffes and elephants. This was a very cool experience and feeding a giraffe was on my bucket list………. GO!!!!!!

A really fun day out
Luke_D, Sep 2023
This tour was very good and a highlight of our time in Nairobi. However, we had to go a day later than scheduled as the day before the tour, we were advised that the Elephant Orphanage tickets had sold out despite booking two weeks in advance. They did manage to sort us out with a ticket the next day, however we would advise that if you are especially keen to see the elephant orphanage and don't want to risk missing out, you book directly through the Sheldrick website. The experience was very good, the driver, Wellington arrived promptly and was helpful in navigating around. The Giraffe Centre was less than an hour's drive from Nairobi centre and it was very fun being able to feed them. After that, we went to the elephant orphanage, which was an absolute delight, we saw the baby elephants as well as the baby rhino and the keepers were very informative. The Beads Factory was very interesting and a nice little pitstop on the way to the Bomas. The Bomas was a fascinating watch of incredible singing and dancing of different African tribes. A really amazing day trip that we would thoroughly recommend.
Find a better company!
Torianna_F, Feb 2023
Titus was my tour guide and he was horrible from the start. He called yelling at me from my hotel lobby at 7:51 saying I was late when I was told 8am. I went to the lobby at 7:59am. He is a horrible driver! 10 hour day and he didn’t have water for us. He said he didn’t stop at the office to get water. He dropped me off to the Bomas 3 hours early and left me there while he went to drop off the other passengers. I danced with the Bomas dancers. He knew I was there solo. Once in a lifetime experience and he didn’t take not one pic. I wanted to cry. This company is very unorganized but if you must book, request Stephen! Stephen was my guide for a couple other tours and when he saw me with the elephants, he took pics of me with his phone and sent them on what’s app. Thanks Stephen!
Super Great Day!!!

The guide was amazing and helpful. I felt taken care of. Amazing day!!! If you have a short time to tour, this is a good option to experience a lot in one day.
Great experience with guide.

Great tour! Titus was a great tour guide while traveling to each destination. Seeing the giraffes and elephants was magical.
Totally worth it
Verenice_A, Nov 2022
I was a solo traveler and Victor made feel secure and comfortable the whole tour. He explained me the itinerary and in every stop the activities involved. He gave me enough time to enjoy the experience. The average time per stop I spent was about an hour. I recommend bringing a hat for the elephant Orphanage.
Incredible and worth the money

It was an indictable day filled with laughter and much dancing. Our tour guide was absolutely amazing.
Wonderful experience at the Giraffe Centre and Elephant Orphanage

Kelvin the tour guide was fantastic! He went beyond our expectations. I loved how he put us at the right stop at the elephant orphanage.
Nice trip but Non AC vehicle was a mood spoiler
Sujata_P, Jun 2022
Visited Giraffe centre where feeding Giraffes was a lovely experience. Centre also provided information about Giraffes in Africa.. later visited elephant orphanage where orphan baby elephants are raised in Nursery and later released in wild.. due to some political rally visit to Bomas was cancelled and instead visited Karen Blixen museum. Also visited Beads factory which works for women empowerment.. it was a nice trip but would rate it three because the operator uses vehicle which are not air conditioned.. while coming back traffic was quite heavy and with lot of pollution from vehicular emissions travelling in Non AC vehicle was not pleasant and ruins your experience.

This tour company was so professional and amazing. Grace kept in contact with me. Our driver was Pharis and he was so nice. He gave information about Kenya, was a great driver and was very patient with us. I would book with them again

Thank you Kimberly for such a nice review about your safari with Gracepatt . Keep up the good spirit Pharis, as you share your knowledge with the visitors.
A great day with the elephants and giraffes.
Lisa_G, Jan 2022
This trip did not disappoint at all. I adopted an elephant from the Sheldrick Orphanage and our guide made sure we were the first ones through the gate. He made sure we had a great view of the feedings. I was able to point out my adopted girl. The Giraffe center was amazing. Being able to feed, touch, and enjoy these beautiful animals up close was a dream. Unfortunately, the Bomas did not happen. There was a huge political rally going on where the performance was to be held. They were going to perform inside for just me and my sister and I am the one that said no. I know how it is to perform for an empty audience. All in all this was a fantastic day trip and should not be missed while visiting Nairobi.
Response from Host, Feb 2022
Thank you Lisa for reviewing us, it feels good to adopt an elephant . I believe your joy was full by seeing your Adopted Baby elephant. Sorry about the Bomas.
Disappointed
Theresa_S, Mar 2020
The giraffe center & Kazuri bead factory were wonderful but because of the coronivirus the Sheldrick elephant orphanage and Bombas of Kenya were closed. We understand that it was necessary to do that but Viator failed to contact us before our tour giving us an opportunity to decide what was best for us and than said we couldn’t get a partial refund. Then they wanted us to take us to a zoo and charge us more money for that. It was extremely disappointing. If we had know we could have went to those things ourselves and saved a lot of money. To top it off the two main highlights of what we wanted to see on our trip were closed. I would use Kenya Bush Expeditions from now on, not Viator. Just want to say the driver Stephen tried his best to make it a good experience.
A Wonderful Day in Nairobi

This was a wonderful day of experiencing a few of Nairobi's best places. The giraffes and elephants were delightful, and we loved seeing the Kazuri beads, and experiencing the tribal dances at the Bomas of Kenya. Our guide, Francis, was great! He was so considerate of our needs, taking special care of the oldest member of our group (making sure she found a seat in the shade). If you only have a day to see Nairobi, this is a perfect tour!
Guide Kelvin was the BEST!
Diane_L, Dec 2018
Kelvin hustled us to the perfect viewing and petting area for the baby elephants. It was shaded and we got the best footage of the little ones running for their bottles. At the Giraffe Center, he told us all about the three types of giraffes and showed us how to get "kissed" by one. His passion for conservation and knowledge of Kenyan animals really made the day special. We highly recommend this tour - and Kelvin as your guide.

The tour of the Giraffe Center, Elephant Orphanage and the Bomas of Kenya day tour in Nairobi was money well spent and made better by the tour guide, Patrick Riama who provided a lot of information one each site. I would recommend his expertise to anyone interested in learning more about the above. Maudene Exmore VA USA
