This was an awesome experience that exceeded my expectations! We were visiting New Orleans with another couple and everyone had a great time. The driver picked us up in front of our hotel, and called when he was close to let us know he was arriving. Driver was Mario, and he was helpful on providing some background information about the Honey Island Swamp Tour as well as good places to eat around New Orleans. We enjoyed talking with him on the approximately 40 minute drive to Slidell. Once we arrived we did not wait long to begin the boat tour. Our tour guide was Captain Hunter and he was excellent! His knowledge, boating skills and humor kept us entertained and engaged during the tour. We were very fortunate in that it had rained earlier, and the weather was ideal went we began the tour. We saw many alligators, 3-4 foot gators that came right up to the boat. We also saw many snakes and slider turtles, raccoons, ospreys, and a feral hog. We had a great time and I would highly recommend this tour for everyone. I would love to take the tour again when we come back to New Orleans and hopefully we can sail again with Captain Hunter!

Beautiful and serene
Barbara_G, May 2024
The tour was beautiful and educational!. I was expecting a stinky, buggy tour of a gloomy place filled with alligators. I was surprised how serene and beautiful the swamp was. We saw several species of birds including a Bald Eagle, White and Blue egrets. . We saw alligators that were not shy to come up to boat. And a band of racoons! Nice to get out of the city!
Worth It!!

Our Driver Mario was EXCEPTIONAL! Very informational about everything on the drive to the excursion. He took the Time to tell a stories about New Orleans. He even stopped at A daiquiri drive-through for my friends. When we arrive, check-in was easy and we gathered by the boats and boarded with Captain Scott. He was fun, witty, Lively And educated. I give this a five and a must do!
Nice & fun way to visit a swamp

We picked this tour because of the hotel pick up feature, a great bonus. The tour was well organised and all the tour guides were friendly, funny and well informed. The swamp itself was a wonderful place and bursting with wildlife
I recommend the tour.

Great transportation. Great captain. Very knowledgeable about everything. Enjoyed the playful raccoons the most. Saw lots of birds and a couple alligators and turtles too. Would recommend!
Great tour!

The captain was great. He gave us a lot of information and was entertaining at the same time. He did give us some speed rides for the people who like to go fast that is a plus.

Thanks Starla for sharing your kind words! We appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us.
Cool swamp, less cool tour company
Ruth_L, Dec 2023
Nice to see the swamp, but a couple of issues: - shuttle from our hotel had 1 seat with a broken seat belt. Every seat in the shuttle was taken, so one passenger had to ride 30m on the highway without a seat belt. This must be against tour licensing regulations? - driver was a climate change denier - not amazing given fragile ecosystem we were traveling to - boat guide was nice but not knowledgeable. Could not answer basic questions about wildlife we were seeing. - Biggest complaint - boat guides threw marshmallows at swamp critters. Didn’t we all learn in elementary school that the first rule of interaction with wildlife is to not feed them? Guide complained that raccoons often jumped on the boats - no duh dude. They want the marshmallows.

Thanks for letting us know about your experience. Sorry we didn’t deliver a great tour. We as a team have discussed this review in great detail and will use your feedback to make us better.
Not worth it
christenklee, Dec 2023
This company really needs to do some work. There was no communication on when we would be picked up and every time I would call, no one picked up. When someone finally did call me back, he argued with me on what I was seeing on my ticket. Which has the incorrect verbiage about pick up. Our driver was EXTREMELY unsafe and should NOT have been driving. We almost got into an accident on several occasions heading to the swamp. She was also over 30min late. On the way back, she had one of the passengers directing her where to go, even though her phone and maps were connected to the car and directing her where to go. By far one of the worse tour experiences I’ve ever encountered on this site.

Informative tour and unique experience. Recommend!
Karen_S, Dec 2023
Pickup at hotel was great. Tour was very informative and well worth it for us who haven’t seen the swamp before.
Interesting and informative swamp trip
Eileen_T, Dec 2023
We were picked up at the time agreed, our driver was very informative on the drive to the swamp site. The boat trip was very good with our guide being very knowledgeable. This was a winter trip in the middle of December so alligators were hibernating due to the cold. We did however spot 2 along with other animals and birds. We would like to return when the weather is warmer to see more of this wonderful place.
Fun, informative tour for a relaxing change of pace
Marcie_K, Dec 2023
Our guide for the swamp tour was very knowledgeable and informative. Our trip to NOLA was in December, and for the first third of the tour, it looked like we might not see any wildlife. As we passed fishing camps, our guide explained their history and culture. Then he pointed out some birds and explained their origin and habits. After that, we cruised through a bayou and saw raccoons. Our guide allowed us plenty of time to observe them while we fed them and took photos. He also provided interesting commentary on other swamp animals and birds, as well as the flora we encountered. During the last part of our tour, he directed our attention to herons, alligators, and turtles. Our only disappointment was our inability to hear our van driver on the way to the swamp. We were sitting in back, but it seemed likely that only the couple sitting behind her could hear her commentary over the noise of vehicles and traffic and the conversation of the other passengers.
Swamp tour full of animals!
Susan_K, Dec 2023
The swamp tour was amazing. They picked us up from our hotel, which was nice, and then we drove about 40 mins out to Honey Island. Our boat captain was very knowledgeable and friendly and told us some cool stories. We saw herons, raccoons, turtles, alligators and some cool swampy plants too!
Great crew!
dgirardbosi, Dec 2023
Our driver Nathan was great: friendly, courteous; he went out of his way to get me back to my B&B safely. Capt Tom was knowledgeable, and friendly. The front desk gentleman was so considerate: he offered me his own for the trip! It was a great experience. I highly recommend this organization.
Amazing experience!
Melanie_R, Nov 2023
Great tour, knowledgeable tour guide and very friendly staff. It was cold when we went, but still saw some wildlife including young alligators, racoons and different types of birds, not to mention the incredible scenery!
