What To Expect

The past meets the present on this morning walking tour through South Street Seaport, a historic area on the East River in New York City.

Meet your guide to tour the Seaport, renowned for its majestic tall ships and Federalist buildings dating back to the late 1700s. One of its previous claims to fame was the Fulton Fish Market, once the most important wholesale fish market on the East Coast.

Today, the Seaport is a thriving area for shopping and dining establishments and you'll have a chance to browse the shops and food court, as well as admire views of the East River, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Brooklyn Heights from the outside decks.

Follow your guide to the Titanic Memorial lighthouse at the entrance of the Seaport, a 60-foot-tall structure built to remember the people who died on the RMS Titanic in 1912. Visit the Bridge Café, New York City's oldest drinking establishment, and Jeremy’s Ale House, a respite for first responders on 9/11.

Hear the gripping stories of the Seaport's turbulent past and discover some of the sights and perspectives rarely seen even by locals before ending your tour at the meeting point.

A good way to understand more about the history of this part of NY, and see how it has developed through to today. Well narrated, and we covered a lot of ground in the time available.
