What To Expect

Your rendez-vous with Paris’ famous dead begins in the morning at Alexandre Dumas metro station. Meet your guide and stroll into Père Lachaise Cemetery, the city’s most visited graveyard. Spanning 110 acres (44 hectares), this cemetery houses hundreds of thousands of the city’s famous and infamous dead in tombs of varying extravagance.

Hear about some of the site’s famous artists, musicians and writers that rest here such as Edith Piaf, Molière, Chopin, Proust, Delacroix, Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde. Wander through the labyrinth of graves and along stony paths to visit tombs accented in eccentricity and distinction.

As you experience the haunting magnificence of the cemetery, you’ll learn tragic histories of lovers like Heloïse and Abelard – united in a single tomb in the 1817 after centuries apart – and forward-thinking women like writers Gertrude Stein and Collette.

Your tour concludes at Porte du Rèpos near the Philippe Auguste metro stop.

Lovely tour of the cemetery
Abigail_G, May 2024
Our guide was knowledgeable and a great storyteller, she was sure to hit all the important spots in the cemetery and made for an engaging and informative tour.
No help- missed tour- sad
Rosario_B, May 2024
I had contacted them the day before that I would meet them at the cemetery. No on replied. I was at a hotel half a mile from the cemetery. Day of, I contact again and they say I have to walk back to Dumas metro. I inform them that if they could tell me which entrance they will be I can meet them there. The operator gives it to me but it’s not on the map. The operator sounded like he really hated his job. I tell him could he help me by giving me an entrance that’s on the map. Angry silence. He talked to my brother in law and gave him the same answer. We got there 30 minutes early so we could get to any entrance but this person didn’t seem to care. So we missed the tour. Very sad.

Carole took us along an amazing journey through history, art, culture, celebrity and so much more. She is engaging and entertaining… thank you for a wonderful morning!
Nice way to spend the morning.
Donna_H, Apr 2024
This was a serene walk, filled with history and information from a great guide, Becky. She led us to all the highlights that would have been a task to find on my own. Lovely stroll, even if it is a cemetery.
Most notable cemetery maybe in the world
Virginia_C, Apr 2024
Great tour! Krithika gave detailed historical descriptions and led the group at a comfortable place. There are many more notable sites than what the tour has time for (so check out the sign near the entrance to find more names) but she hit many highlights with very good detail. The weather this particular week and day was unusually cold so dress warmly with comfortable shoes. Highly recommend!
Fantastic!!

Carol was THE most wonderful tour guide. Her cute and sweet personality make the site come alive (pun intended) my sister and I would recommend Carol a million times over!!
More than worth every penny, second and steps

This small group intimate walk through the world’s most famous cemetery with Becky is very touching indeed. Becky is a superb engaging raconteur who is always eager to learn more. I’m coming back with my son soon but please could you add Marcel Marceau and JRD Tata po favor? Merci beaucoup Jen ne pas parles francais.
No meet up and no way to contact on the day
sherichamilton, Apr 2024
We were not able to take this tour because the meeting point had no address. Our concierge sent us in a taxi but the driver said the address was incomplete and he had no idea where to drop us. We were dropped in the wrong place and we walked to the cemetery But could not find the group. The meet was Alexandre Dumas 75011. Apparently that is not a complete address. I messaged the tour operator but got an auto message saying they would respond in 48 hours.
Great Tour!

Great guide through history
Joanne_B, Feb 2024
The knowledge and enthusiasm of our guide, Carol, made this tour memorable. And it was well curated, so we were led through the graveyard on a journey of discovery about its history, and to significant sites, including the those most visited.
Better Than Expected
William_E, Jan 2024
Maryam’s knowledgeable presentation made the hours fly despite the freezing weather. She put this place in historical context to the city and other local cemeteries. And illuminated the lives of many of the occupants.
Great Tour

This is my favorite graveyard! This time I decided to actually take a tour. Our tour guide Becky was awesome. If you are looking for a tour in English, you should request her. She is from America but has lived in Paris for 20 years. She is very friendly & I highly recommend her.
Great Experience
Sue_B, Nov 2023
Our guide Vic was great! She was knowledgeable and entertaining! Highly recommend taking a tour rather than trying to do it on your own.
Entertaining guide
judith_w, Nov 2023
Vic was a great and entertaining tour guide. She explained the history of the graveyard, and led us to the graves of many famous people . Her stories were full of very interesting historical and non-historical information . She held everyone’s attention and very knowledgeably answered all questions. The cemetery was very beautiful with the fall foliage. .
Wonderful Experience
Allen_H, Oct 2023
The beauty and serenity of the cemetery. I also enjoyed the history that my tour guide told so interestingly.
