What To Expect

Make your way to the Île de la Cité, where this tour begins, then cross the Seine River towards the Latin Quarter—this intellectual neighborhood is the home of the Sorbonne University, and it's the historic core of the Parisian Left Bank. Hear stories about the famous thinkers and writers who made their homes here, including F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway, and discover some of the landmarks that recall Paris’ ancient history. You’ll stop by the Panthéon, Roman ruins, charming shops, and the Luxembourg Gardens, with a pause to browse stacks of books at the famous Shakespeare and Company bookstore.

Francois was great. He tailored the tour to our interests, since we happened to be the only guests. We started with the 2030 history of the city, then moved to jazz, literature, Roman baths, architecture and the backgrounds of the actors in Emily in Paris. He covered everything and answered every question we had. Francois was very proud of his city and it’s history. He represented it well.

Tamari was a wonderful guide! She is so knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and interesting. I learned so much about each sight we went to, and the Latin Quarter in general. She was very accommodating to my particular interests, such as going inside Shakespeare and Company, seeing the Sorbonne, and telling me all about the architectural features and history of Notre Dame.
