Well worth it !

We took the private tour at 6am to beat the heat and it was perfect ! Enjoyed Chichen Itza before it was crowded. Our guide Fernando made sure we were comfortable and explained the history of the site well. The cenote and lunch was enjoyable. By the time we went to Valledolid it was too sunny and we could cut short the time there ( thanks to our private tour , couldn’t have done it in a group tour ) and Fernando drove and showed us the downtown instead of walking in the Sun. Overall, an amazing experience !

We opted for a private tour, and it was WELL WORTH the expense to travel at ease to and from Chichen Itza and to have a guide provide us a personalized tour. Claudia, our guide, was just so excellent. She was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed our time with her. She and our driver picked us up at our door exactly at 6:30 AM. The drive was peaceful and we felt very safe with our driver, Charlie. We beat the crowds by arriving early. Don't even think about a later start time from Cancun. It will get too hot and the lines coming in as we were leaving were unbelievable. If you want photos without hundreds of extra people in them, go early! The tour was perfect. We loved learning about Mayan culture. We then enjoyed the best meal of our trip in Valladolid. The swim in the cenote was a trip highlight. Unforgettable! We can't stop talking about it. Beautiful. The entire trip was entirely customized. We opted to spend a little longer swimming in the cenote rather than try to add more touring in Valladolid. I can't recommend this experience enough.

Mario was a FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC guide. I was initially a little hesitant to do the private tour given the cost, but holy smokes am I glad we did. Given the commute time to and from Cancun and the amount of time it takes to properly see all of Chichén Itzá, the cost was way more than worth it.

Alejandro was an excellent guide. We had a wonderful day at Chichén Itzá and the Cenote. We left the hotel in playa del Carmen at 6:30am and that was definitely the right choice. We avoided the crowds and were able to get some amazing pictures before swarms of people showed up. Alejandro was extremely knowledgeable about the sites and shared some of his own insights as well. Highly recommend this tour!

We had a great day at Chichen Itza with Alberto. The day was extremely smooth- on time pick up, clean comfortable vehicle with breakfast and drinks at the ready. He provided excellent information throughout the day complete with pictures etc. The lunch at the cenote was outstanding- better than the food at our resort. I can't recommend this tour and Alberto highly enough.

Our guide, David, and driver, Mario, were fabulous. The transport van was punctual and waiting for us, a snack and drinks were provided for the ride. We appreciated David giving us history during the ride and told us when we could take restroom breaks. At Chichen Itza, David was very informative and let us enjoy the site at our pace. David also knew the best locations to take photos. The lunch was delicious and provided everyone in our group with their food preferences. The Cenote was beautiful and the changing area adequate. David allowed us to visit and shop at our pace in Valladolid. We would highly recommend this tour if you want to maximize your vacation time in Mexico.

Carlos Cano was an absolutely amazing tour guide - I could not recommend more! He not only provided everything in the description of the excursion, he also brought additional photos to help tell the history of Chichen Itza, the Mayans, and the Spanish invasion, as well as shared so much information on the cenotes and Mexican culture. When visiting an historic sight you want a guide that points out the details and can bring the place to life, that was what Hector did for us (I would recommend you ask if he is available). I would recommend you start the day early so you avoid the worst heat. A 6.30 departure from playa del carmen will more or less time it exactly with when Chichen Itza opens (at 8.00 am). Once you seen the sights you will be taken to a cenote where you get a chance to jump into the refreshing water. Don’t forget to bring swim outfits and a towel. I would also recommend an umbrella if you can get one, as the sun is quite strong at the Chichen Itza. You also get a change to stroll around Valladolid, one of the oldest Spanish towns in Mexico.
