Adventure and great bikes

The ebike is very good and helped us to travel along appian way, catacombs and also to aqueducts and baths of caracalla because it was easy cycling. The location of this shop is right at the bus stop and near the entry road to st calixtus catacomb so very convenient. Make sure you pick up a helmet as it's a bumpy ride on the appian way. I wouldn't do this if you're over 50 as can be bumpy

Great to Go outside the City. Biking IS easy but Mountainbike you should get for bumpiness. Invest the 8€ allong the path to See the different sites, its worth it!

I loved every minute of this bike but warning it’s rough terrain so Really recommend the E bike! I upgraded to a better bike and enjoyed my experience way more than if I had just had a regular one diffuser spectacular and the scenery is just magical it was so fun to do it on a bike.

This vendor was extremely hard to find as my booking did not give a complete address. After travelling to the Appian Way by train and bus, I had to walk more than 2 km and was lucky to find the bike hire place. I was out in the 'middle of nowhere' in a foreign country on my own. Not impressed!

Sehr schöne Strecke aber auf jeden Fall Mountainbike zu empfehlen aufgrund des Kopfsteinpflasters, teilweise mit sehr unebenen Steinblöcken.

Perfekt! Der beste Tag in Rom! Toll, um mal aus dem Trubel der Stadt heraus zu kommen. Ich kann diese Tour nur jedem empfehlen. Stellenweise sehr holprig, aber mit einem Mountainbike macht es (gemächlich) richtig Spaß. Ich zitiere aus meinem Reiseführer: Es geht los - Über 2300 Jahre altes original römisches Hoppelpflaster. :-)

Das sollte man in Rom erlebt haben

Die Via Appia Antica ist ein einmaliges Erlebnis, das man in Rom besuchen sollte. Diese antike Straße, gesäumt mit Ruinen, ist nicht weit vom Zentrum entfernt und nicht annähernd so überlaufen, wie das Collusseum und das Forum Romanum. Obwohl die Straße an sich eintrittsfrei ist, gibt es gerade am Anfang Ruinen, die ebenfalls kostenfrei zu besichtigen sind oder gegen ein überschaubares Eintrittsgeld erkundet werden können. Nach hinten raus werden die großen Ruinen weniger und man kann sich auf die Straße, die kleinen Ruinen von Grabmalen und -vor Allem - auf die Landschaft konzentrieren. Auch kann man die Ruhe an diesem besonderen Ort genießen. Die Appia ist nicht überall mit dem Fahrrad befahrbar. Das liegt an den original erhaltenen Straßenabschnitten mit extrem großen Steinpflaster (siehe Bild). Das ist in der Regel aber kein Problem, da man an den meisten Stellen auf den sandigen Untergrund neben der Fahrbahn ausweichen kann. Manchmal muss man eben einige Meter schieben. Dennoch ist die Radtour die beste Möglichkeit die Via Appia Antica zu erkunden, da man im Zeitrahmen doch mehr sieht, als zu Fuß. Normalerweise gäbe ich dieser Tour die vollen 5 Sterne. Einen Stern Abzug gibt es wegen der stellenweise fehlenden Beschilderung. Diese könnte etwas besser sein. Gerade im Übergang auf den Abschnitt, den man sich mit dem Autoverkehr teilen muss, ist die Beschilderung in beide Richtungen recht dürftig. Da sind wir auch gleich beim nächsten Punkt: Man teilt sich ein Stück des Weges mit dem recht heftigem Autoverkehr. Das ist wie eine Hauptstraße im Zentrum, wo Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzungen und Fußgängerüberwege nur zur Dekoration vorhanden sind. Wir haben uns E-Bikes geliehen. Diese Heckmotorräder sind einfach und fast selbsterklärend. Dennoch wurden sie uns von der freundlichen Dame vom Verleih erklärt. Die Akkus waren voll geladen und ein Kettenschloss war auch dabei. Zum Start bekommt man direkt eine Wegkarte mit den wichtigsten Informationen dazu. Wir sind zu dem Fazit gekommen, dass unsere Rom-Reise ohne die Besichtigung der Via Appia Antica nicht vollständig gewesen wäre. An diese Tour werden wir uns noch sehr lange mit Freude erinnern.

Sérénité du lieu et son atmosphère. Lieu insolite chargé d'histoire à ne pas manquer à Rome. En vélo ou à pied au choix mais cela vaut vraiment le détour. Et l'accueil est sympa.

Chouette mais vélos pas top

Sur 5 vélos, 3 ont déraillé au cours du trajet dont 1 plusieurs fois. La route n'est pas confortable, elle est parsemée de passages à gros pavés à éviter les jours de pluie pour ne pas glisser. Les paysages sont sympas et les ruines intéressantes. Bonne activité malgré les petits défauts

Wir haben zum zweiten mal Fahrräder gebucht und genau wie vor ein paar Jahren hat alles toll geklappt. Wir hatten einen tollen Tag und können nur empfehlen einen Tag mit dem Fahrrad durch diese tolle Landschaft zu fahren.

Vriendelijk geholpen ,prachtige fietstocht gemaakt maar slechte kwaliteit fietsen ,ketting lag er bij mijn zoon meerdere keren af en te dunne bandjes voor zo,n hobbelige weg.

Good morning Petra and thanks for your reservation with us. Sorry for the chain, unfortunately it can happen every now and then since the original Roman road is quite bumpy. Next time, I suggest you the MTB or e-MTB with bigger tires. You can get them here according to the availability or reserve them in advance as you did for the city-bikes. Some people prefer the normal city-bike with the tiny tyre, others the fat tyre. I hope to welcome you as soon as possibile. Best
