The 4th century basilica and the Roman period remains. It was fascinating to walk into houses and other facilities of the time of the Roman emperor Nero. Eddy is a great guide. Very knowledgeable. Seeing the 3 levels of the historic town and church was amazing. That in those times they could build on another church was outstanding. My only complaint is with Viator. I searched for catacombs and this came up. Maybe our definitions are different but I wanted to see the burial catacombs. Not here. But the church is beautiful and Eddy explained the symbolism magnificently.

Amazing tour

This is a must when you're in Rome. Seeing the the city being built through the centuries was fascinating. Our guide was the Church's historian. He knew a shocking amount of history of not only the Church, but of Rome, Italy, and countries that had any significant interactions with Rome. He even knew how to translate all the Greek and Latin on everything. Probably the most knowledgeable guide I've had anywhere.

So, so interesting!! And the great thing was is that we had visited the Vatican the day before and Ancient Rome that morning so this experience tied so many things together.
