What To Expect

Your Golden Gate Bridge bike tour starts at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, where you’ll meet your guide. Then take off along a mostly flat route that follows the waterfront of San Francisco Bay.

Pedal past sights like Aquatic Park Cove, part of San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park, and enjoy views of Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge. Then continue past Fort Mason Center, a National Historic Landmark; Marina Green, where beautiful homes face the water; the Palace of Fine Arts, built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition; and Crissy Field, part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

When you arrive at Fort Point, at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge, take advantage of a great photo op of the iconic red towers before crossing the bridge’s 1.7-mile (2.7-km) span, which ends at Vista Point, another panoramic viewpoint for photos of the bay and city skyline. Complete the last stretch of your bike tour into Sausalito, a small, upscale town known for its picturesque waterfront scenery.

From Sausalito, you will be on your own to continue exploring however you wish. Continue biking around the area, using your provided map to perhaps conquer the hills of the Marin Headlands or see more of San Francisco, such as the Presidio or Ocean Beach; refuel with food and drinks at one of Sausalito’s many restaurants (own expense); and return to the city at your leisure, either by biking back across the bridge or taking the ferry from Sausalito with your bike (ferry tickets are at your own expense).

A:Yes - This is a beginner to intermediate tour and is suitable for all ages. Tag-alongs, child seats, trailers, and independent kid’s bikes are all available. Please be sure to mention if you will be bringing a child in the "Special Requirements" box at checkout and also contact the local operator prior to your tour to confirm. There may be an additional rental fee for children's equipment.

We took a 3 hour standard bike tour along the coast, stopping a number of vistas including the place of fine arts, Chrissy fields, and the Golden Gate Bridge! Our tour guide was Adam Ringel who was EXCELLENT! He really knows his history and made the tour very enjoyable. There were only 2 hills that were a bit difficult to ride up on the standard bike (we are from a very flat Indiana), but I would do it again. If doing the other tour seeing many neighborhoods of San Fran, I absolutely would have upgraded to the EBike. Our tour ended in beautiful Sausalito and Adam gave excellent restaurant recommendations (we ate at the Trident). ***IF YOU TAKE AN AFTERNOON TOUR, DO NOT MISS THE FERRY BACK TO FISHERMANS WHARF. We did this tour on a Friday 1-4pm. The last ferry left Sausalito at 5pm, giving us barely enough time to have a meal there. If you don’t catch the ferry back, you will have to ride back yourself, unguided. Also note that the ferry reportedly does not allow Ebikes on board, only standard bikes. There is a fee you can pay (approx $15) to leave a bike in Sausalito if you don’t want to take it on the ferry. The ferry was awesome and drove right past Alcatraz providing excellent views for photo ops. Upon returning to Fishermans wharf, we had another 1-2 hours with the bikes before returning them to the shop! Would absolutely recommend this tour, especially with Adam!

We arrived slightly early to collect our bikes and were helped straight away, given clear instructions on using the e bikes and it was ensured we were confident. It was a great tour, highly recommend the electric bikes, certainly made it easier. Our guide McKinley was lovely and happy to stop for photo opportunities whenever we wanted, she was relaxed and informative. Sausalito was beautiful and we were happy to take the ferry back to SF with our bikes. Thank you 🙏

Our tour guide was amazing! A lovely student from Wisconsin who made us feel comfortable, took loads of pics for us and had lots of great facts and answered all our questions. We are so glad we took this tour and would highly recommend it! We wanted some exercise so took the regular bike option- a few hills would make the e bike a good choice for anyone not wanting a bit of cardio. The only down side was the ferry ride back the scenery was beautiful but the staff on the boat were horrible- Rude and angry 🤷🏼‍♀️ Sausalito is a gorgeous little beach town worth going to. 100% recommend this tour and I hope you meet the same lovely tour guide! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The bike tour itself was great. Our tour guide was fairly knowledgeable but not as engaging with our small group of 4 as he could have been. You should definitely check to see if you are able to drop your bikes at the other location in Sausalito because that was our plan all along so we even made dinner reservations, etc….only to learn that wasn’t feasible that day. Then we had to pay extra money to take the ferry back - kind of ruined our evening plans.

Great trip with Adam who was always making sure everyone was safe & prepared for the next steps. He was super informative and knows a great deal about the city. Also glad we got the e bikes as it was nice to cycle back too which we wouldn't have done on a standard bike. Wanted something different than museums & outdoor - this was perfect

Do yourself a favour and add this tour to your itinerary while in San Fran. What a great way to experience the City of Fog. Rick was our guide and he was excellent. From extensive knowledge to fantastic photography, this bike experience was the best. Thanks for a great day and delicious lunch to top it off in Sausalito.

One of the bikes got a flat tire, but our guide, Marcos fixed it quickly. We all had electric bikes, so the ride was easy, though windy at times, and heavy mist at times. Riding across the bridge was the highlight for me; lunch at the Barrel House Tavern was my wife's.

A tick on a long awaited list of to-do's! Thats a visit to see the Golden Gate Bridge and what better way than to ride a bicycle across it. Our tour director, Marcus, did a splendid job of guiding us through interesting areas and on to the bridge.To add to that, the weather was perfect which made the day complete!

I went on the tour on Saturday November 25 with the electric bike option. Our tour guide was Marcus. He was very knowledgeable and provided great insight to the area as we biked on the route. It was a great experience! Lots of opportunities to stop and take photos. The pace was perfect and the electric bike helped get up the steep areas.

We loved this bike tour. Our guide, Eli, was a great guy - informed, interested, kind. We had a bit of an issue at the start as we couldn't get a bike big enough. But Eli and a couple of others made the effort to dig around the garage a bit and found what we needed. Everything after that was excellent. Highly recommend.

The BEST thing to do in San Francisco!! Meet at least 30mins before the tour starts to get your bike and helmet. The staff checking you in are very friendly and helpful. There's a small bag on the front of your bike for you to put in any things you may wish to have easy access to during the ride, such as phone/camera, as well as a bicycle rack on the back to hook on any other items (jumper, waterproof, backpack, etc). There's a handy spot for your water bottle too. Don't forget this! However, there is a stop on the tour at around half way where you can fill up your bottle, or buy a refreshment/snack and take a toilet break. The bikes are in excellent condition with plenty of gears and very comfortable seats. The majority of the ride is flat with only a couple of challenging hills - don't let this put you off! Ely, our guide, was fantastic. He was friendly, fun and really informative. He led our group at a good pace. We stopped at lots of places to either talk about the history, take photos or have a rest. We were very lucky with the weather and experienced no fog to clearly see the Bridge at every opportunity as well as when cycling across it. Such a great experience! Salsalito is beautiful. Top tip for the freshest, super tastiest oysters and tacos in Sausalito is "Salsalito Taco Shop" where I stopped here after the tour had finished on recommendation from Ely. I took the ferry back using the ticket from the shop staff which I bought when checking in, to save the hassle of buying it at the pier - either option is easy. You don't have to return your bike until 8pm (when the shop closes) which means more than enough time to explore Salsalito. Although allow an hour from leaving Salsalito to get back in time (30-40 mins on the ferry and 15-20 to cycle back to the shop). Cycling is a great way to see what San Fran has to offer outside of the typical tourist central areas. This bike trip has made me fall in love with this city. Don't pass up this tour!

The layout of the tour was perfect! Lots of allotted time to stop for breaks and photos. Our guide was full of information and led our group at a reasonable pace. Riding across the bridge down into Sausalito was AMAZING, such beautiful views and such an amazing town to end the trip in. Highly recommend this guided tour!
