What To Expect

Meet your private driver-guide at your Santorini hotel or Santorini cruise port, hop inside your comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle and set off on your custom tour of the island. Your tour includes all transport, with all meals and entrance fees at your own expense.

Before you head anywhere, chat to your friendly guide about the sights you want to see and visit during your tour. As your tour is private, the itinerary is completely flexible and can be customized to match your interests and preferences.

Perhaps start with a visit to one of Santorini’s must-sees: the timeworn excavated ruins at Akrotiri. Here, stroll around the remnants of the Minoan Bronze Age settlement that was buried, and preserved by, volcanic ash as a result of a major eruption in the second millennium BC.

You may also want to relax on one of Santorini’s black sand beaches or delve into its picture-postcard villages, such as Pyrgos and Oia—the latter known for its spectacular sunsets. Then, maybe finish with a visit to a traditional winery to taste or purchase (own expense) some of Santorini’s fresh and distinctive wines. The island's winemaking history stretches back more than 4,000 years and its varietals are renowned for their crispness and high acidity.

Amazing tour with Theo

Wonderful tour. We had a great time on this tour. Theo was incredible. He gave us historical information about the island and a personal perspective on it. He tailored the day trip according to our preferences and was very adaptable. He showed us the village of Pyrgos, the lighthouse, the Caldera cliffs, a delicious lunch at the black beach, a wine tasting, and finished at the town of Fira.

Our driver Gabriel, spoke excellent English. He gave us a great deal of information on the history of Santorini or as it’s also known, Thira. He took us to a local taverna on the beach for lunch, which was very authentic (I know, because I was born in Greece). My granddaughters (ages 20 & 23), also enjoyed our guide tremendously. He had many anecdotes and a self deprecating sense of humor. We enjoyed the winery, and Fira and the various sites. Would definitely recommend this. Only two negatives (none his fault). The company said they could not pick us up at the hotel and gave us another point. I had challenged it by email but they were insistent because the hotel was in the side of the cliff. As it turned out, there was a parking area very close to it. Gabriel dropped us off at this parking lot on the way back. The second item was the car had a strong smell of cigarettes. The car was owned by the company, not the driver.

Demetrius was excellent! He was able to customize our trip to please everyone in our group including a few that needed to be dropped off early at the cable car. We enjoyed shopping and photo taking in Oia, drinking wine at a restaurant at the black sand beach, and visiting the red sand beach and monastery with magnificent views!

Our driver was informed by my wife and I, at the beginning of our 4-hour tour, what we were looking for in a personalized Santorini tour. Specifically, we requested to go to specific locales for “Instagram” photo experiences. The driver said he understood but recommended and took us to places of his own choosing and photo locations that were not what we wanted. In fact, we had to re-visit a specific location as his recommended choice of a photo location was ill contrived and my wife was unhappy. Also, he actually showed us where he once lived and this seemed very inappropriate and more about him and his experiences than about what we wanted to get out of our own. The 4-hour tour ended earlier than the 4 hours we paid for, by our choice, as we were dissatisfied and wanted to tour the area independently.

Guide took us to see all the tourists spots but we love to go off and see how the locals live. He showed us his country and took us to a great little local restaurant on the water with nothing but locals there. It was making.

We had a lovely time with Theo. It's a great way to get a good feel of the island, see the main sites and absorb some of it's history and stories. Everything was very nicely organised; Theo was punctual, water for all four of us was supplied, car was clean, ride comfortable. The critical part is the tailor-made experience. Travelling with our elderly parents, we had Theo select accessible places and then for the more difficult ones we went by ourselves in subsequent days. Highly recommended!

Stratos tour guide was very knowledgeable and personal. We took this private tour and it paid off. It was nice to get to see around the island by ourselves at the end of our tour he took us to a local eating place called Mythos where he said his dad eats there too. My husband and I shared a gyros. We also had some Mousaka. They were delish!

Theo was great, we loved the beach time, he recommended a great restaurant. He was helpful to navigate the crowded areas. The cable car on the way back was horrific. We knew it would be crowded so we got in line at 4. So many people and line cutters. No one there to organize the chaos. Minus the cable car down it was a fabulous day. Theo is very energetic and knowledgeable!

While our guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job explaining things and taking us around the whole island I believe we could have saved money by doing our own thing. He took us to every town on the island and stopped at a few places for pictures. We only had one day from our cruise in this port and unless you are staying in the cave houses or doing wine tasting at the vineyards I think we saw it all.

We had a fantastic experience with Theo in Santorini... it was a perfect combination of him providing a guided tour throughout the island but also allowing us time to explore on our own in various areas.... he also gave us a great restaurant recommendation right by the beach (Savvas Popeye).. we never felt rushed and got to see everything we wanted to see.... he was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of history... lastly he even extended the tour for us a bit to give us some time to do a wine tasting.... so all-in-all an amazing experience and one of the highlights of our 8 day Greek vacation that had us visiting 7 islands.
