The tour was great. Our guide explained so much. I would highly recommend. You learn so much with a guide. Just make sure you have a hotel booked because Venice charges a tax if you are only coming for the day. Luckily for us our guide came to our rescue when they tried to get us.

Burano was so sweet, great tour!

Great tour. Camilla was great. So kind and friendly. Burano was the best. The only problem was the tour went longer - for 5 hours. We were not dropped at original meeting point and it was raining and we needed to reach an international train, so we needed to pay and catch the tram back to kfc (train station).

MURANO/BURANO not so much

The Murano/Burano Island trip is basically a boat ride which gives you a site seeing look at some of Venice from a waterside perspective. The actual island events were less than stella and merchandise grossly over priced from $30 shot glasses to $4 cookies. There was little to see for glass blowing although the craftsman thought highly of himself. You would be far better off hiring a taxi to drive you around Venice versus heading out to these islands.

You Get What You Pay For

This is definitely a “you get what you pay for” excursion so manage your expectations. I read the reviews here before purchasing the tickets and I can see what alot of people were saying was happening. First, if you are leaving from the train station you will be leaving in a water taxi and you’ll be brought from the train station to the dock at city center. That is where you’ll board the boat where you’ll do most of the tour from. While on the water taxi, our guide did talk about some of the islands we passed so you get to hear more about the different islands if you leave from the train station. Second, folks were saying that the guide was hard to understand when repeating things in English. Her accent was a little strong so I could understand that perspective. She was surely impressive though as she spoke quite a few different languages. While on the boat she spoke in English, Spanish, Italian and French I believe. Third, you won’t be led around Burano and Murano. They showed us a glass blowing demonstration but I didn’t get to see it. I’m 4’9 and wasn’t about to fight other passengers to get to the front to be able to get in the front row. So I stood on a bench in the back and still couldn’t see. There was no organization or instruction about sitting anywhere so I didn’t even realize there were bleachers until we were leaving. Because I couldn’t see the glass blowing demonstration, I wasn’t pressed to buy glass from there. So I went out into Murano and found some shops to buy from. One of them is called Crazy 4 Glass and the style of the items in there were most eclectic than any of the other glass I saw. All this to say that the most guidance you get from the tour is some info about the islands that are around Venice and that you need to be back on the boat at a certain time. So make sure to manage your expectations about what you get with this tour. Fourth, if you are hungry by the time you get to Burano there is a restaurant that serves quickly called Restaurante Pizzeria Principe. I was seated, ate, went to the bathroom and paid all in 30 minutes or less. A last suggestion, if you get to the pick up spot and don’t see a boat, you can call the customer service number to ask for assistance. I was early but still called to make sure I knew what boat to look for. Some of the other reviews talk about how there’s no signage to let you know that the tour starts there. They ended up being left behind and I didn’t want that to happen to me. So I called to double check and I think others should feel comfortable calling too. This tour did what I needed it to do so it was worth it to me. But you aren’t getting the caliber of tour that Hop On Hop Off gives. It’s definitely like taking a boat cruise that stops for an hour in each places and offers up interesting facts about surrounding islands. An hour seems like enough time but I could have used another 30 minutes on each island. Hopefully this is helpful :)

The glass blowing demonstration on Murano was really interesting. It would be good to have a lace making demonstration on Burano. Instructions for meeting point should be updated to say meet at the dock, not in front of the advised location as no guide comes to collect you at the location and expects you to be at the dock. Keep an eye out for the boat name!

Good value but guide was not a clear communicator. She spoke too many languages and it made it difficult to follow

Glass blowing was good. Lunch in burano was beautiful. However at end of tour we were left at least a half mile from where we started. Instructions were not clear.

With hindsight I wish we had travelled to both islands independently on a day boat ferry pass. The glass making exhibition was a farce. I felt I was on on a shopping trip and being exploited as a traveller. Burano Island was fabulous and if I had travelled there independently I would not have been time limited. It is a perfect island to visit for lunch and wandering. We did not have enough time there. I sadly would not recommend this trip but both venues are worth visiting. My favourite being Burano but without time restrictions. Good luck and I hope this review helps you.

This tour was very relaxing after many hectic days. Just what we needed. The glass blowing on Murano was very short(5-10 minutes) then they turn you loose in the gift area. We had no intention of buying so exited immediately.

Pick up point not clear. We spent 30 mins before trip going up and down the peer looking for correct boat. No signs anywhere. Great trip to see the islands. Approx 45mins on each island.

For Murano, Impressive Glass blowing display, we recommend explore down side streets for some special boutiques. For Burano was absolutely stunning. Completely different to Murano. We enjoyed this tour immensely and will treasure our memories of these for unique towns.

This trip was a whistle stop tour of 2 islands in Venice - perfect for us as we were short on time. The glass blowing demonstration was also interesting. So even though I’d say I would recommend this tour it would be with the following warnings! The tour was late starting (by about 15 mins) the meeting point instructions weren’t detailed enough as there were 6 places boats could dock and it was extremely busy so if you aren’t proactive and approach different boats you could easily miss the boat you should be on. A simple sign or knowing the name of the boat you should be on would be a simple resolution. The tour is also bilingual which we knew when we booked but this meant that for each boat journey anything from 30-60 mins there was constant ‘noise’ as the tour guide said the same thing 3 times in different languages so you began to tune out after a while and there was little time to ask questions or go into much depth on anything. There’s clearly a lot of competition with no one really offering a more premium experience (unless you spend a lot of money chartering your own boat!) so the standard of the boat and service was below par based on other boat trips we’ve been on in other holiday locations!

Really enjoyed the boat ride & visiting Murano & Burano Islands.....BUT they depart on time & leave people behind stranded on the islands if you are 2 minutes late.....knowing this I rushed back on the boat from Burano Island & needed to use the toilet on the boat quickly & the man would not let me....staff were allowed to use the toilet but not customers. There was a lovely lady working on the boat who let me use the toilet & the bloke started harassing me whilst in the toilet & banging & peeping through the toilet window & apparently he gave the lovely lady a big row. This bloke is odd & should not be working with the public. There are other no rush boats available which run every 30 minutes for the same price.
