Towering above Florence, Filippo Brunelleschi’s dome (Cupola del Brunelleschi) is an important engineering and architectural feat. Completed in 1436, the fact that this symbol of the city still stands tall over the Duomo more than 600 years later is testament to Brunelleschi’s mastery. Climb to the top for some of the best views over Florence.
Lots of stairs but well worth it. The museum is amazing and shouldn’t be missed. The skip the line for climbing dome meant we were up early, just a shame about the weather.
We did ticket only. It allowed us to see those sights at our own pace.
But I am Very frustrated with the movement in Italy for tour operators to buy up All the tickets for popular venues, so they can resell them with a significant markup.
Lara was so knowledgeable on all things Florence, Duomo, history, art, architecture, and fun! We were so impressed with how smoothly the tour operated and everything we saw and learned. We never felt rushed or at a loss. When we come back, we will take the tour again and request Lara!
A wonderful climb to the top of the Duomo! The guide was fluent, pleasant, and provided great descriptions of the frescoes on the ceiling! A terrific tour!
Whatever you do, get this skip the line ticket to get into the Duomo and the cathedral. Hundreds of people waiting for hours standing in the sun on stone. we got in within a 15 minute window assigned to us. More than 470 steps, so, get your workouts in before attempting this. Absolutely astounding view.
