Rome is home to one of the oldest Jewish communities in Europe, and the Great Synagogue of Rome in the heart of the Jewish Ghetto is both a testament to and symbol of this rich cultural heritage that stretches back more than 2000 years. Learn about this history by visiting the synagogue and Jewish Museum, housed in the same complex.
Sara was incredibly knowledgeable, and very very personable. Her experience as a multi generational, Roman Jew was is invaluable. We left the tour with a lot to think about..
Sara Terracina was a wonderful guide. We would highly recommend her. Sara has lived her entire life in the community. She left us with a deeper understanding of the Jewish culture and the tragedies that unfolded there. It wasn’t a rote script of a scholar. We were the only couple on the tour so we were able to ask many questions. We enjoyed some bread at a local bakery and after the tour ended, my husband and I enjoyed lunch at a local restaurant.
Our guide Sarah was amazing (very knowledgeable) who taught us much and really brought the past to life, particularly since some of her family lived in the ghetto and the fact that she lost an uncle in the holocaust.
Our guide, Sarah, was excellent beyond words. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and interesting. Our experience was really enhanced by having Sarah as our guide.
