Discover more than 200 paintings—including the world–famous *The Starry Night* and *Sunflowers*—and 500 drawings by the master. Take a look at some of the museum’s collection of hundreds of his personal letters for more in–depth insights into the life of Vincent van Gogh.

Once you have finished exploring the Van Gogh Museum, at your pre–booked time, make your way to the departure point for your 1–hour canal cruise. The Van Gogh Museum was wonderful! Do not miss it. It was informative and beautiful. The whole district is amazing. Don't miss the gift shops too. They are filled with beautiful options to remember your trip! The canal cruise was also informative and fun! The audio bit was informative, and the captain added more tidbits of local information. Overall, it was a great experience. The Van Gogh Museum tickets were sold out on our day, so I was SO happy that I bought this in advance :)

      MISREPRESENTATION AND EXTRA CHARGES ADDED
      Gail_G, Apr 2024
Disappointed with the fact our ticket said English audio was included; however the museum claimed it was not and charged us $7.50/person extra for the audio. Not sure if this is a misrepresentation by Viator or the Van Gogh musem.

We were not able to schedule a canal trip and can not receive a refund from Viator. We are no longer Viator fans
      Just ok
      Katri_H, Apr 2024
Museum is great! The canal cruise was overcrowded, loud and minimally informative. Would skip next time.
      Ecxellent

The museum was excellent no problem getting in the museum we did not took the canal cruise did not have time
Museum great, skip the canal cruise
      Rebecca_M, Apr 2024
The Van Gogh museum was wonderful and the tickets got us right in. The canal tickets are a little misleading and tougher. It’s a bit of a scavenger hunt to go get the tickets (all the way across the city from the museum) and then the canal cruise is fine but nothing special.
      Planning ahead paid off

I was so happy I had these tickets! When I arrived they had reached capacity. I took my time and them headed to the canal tour. It was just enough time and packed with information.
Museum was great, canal tour not so much
      Lindsey_W, Apr 2024
The museum was lovely, the canal cruise was very mediocre. There was minimal are recorded commentary, the boat was hot, it could only be scheduled in person at 1 specific office that had a very long wait. Wish I would have booked a different company for that part.
      Unforgettable.

Being able to listen to a story surrounding a particular painting was most appreciated. It certainly gave a lot of insight into his life. Even though there was a specific entry time, there was no exit time - we spent the entire day at the museum. The whole experience was wonderful.
I never got my boat tour
      Gainor_E, Apr 2024
The boat tour company near the Van Gogh Museum wanted to send me way across town to redeem my ride ticket.
Great walking tour, but skip the cruise combination
      AnnaSara_K, Apr 2024
The walking tour was great! Very interesting, great guide and I learned a lot. However the combination with canal cruise was worthless since you could not pree-book a time and could only book a time at one specific office (although the same brand was found all over), which meant going back and forth several times if you, like me, did not stay in that specific area. Much better to book a separate cruise.
      Loved the museum but.....
      RebeccaL_B, Apr 2024
I loved the Van Gogh museum. It was fabulous but the cruise left a lot to be desired. The audio was inconsistent and I couldn't see anything. A lot of passengers took extra seats for jackets and purses. Not cool.
      Meh.
      Lisa_J, Apr 2024
Cruise was a good distance from the museum. Museum was very nice but not necessary to book with cruise.
      History plus culture
      MaryAnn_H, Apr 2024
Even with jet lag, we loved actually seeing the works of Van Gogh personally. The canal cruise was full of interesting sights and information.
      Good in general.
      Irene_M, Apr 2024
Beautiful museum. absolutely worth going to. I wanted to buy tickets from museum directly it was cheaper but not available. So try to buy in advance and save money. Canal trip was good. Nice and short. Also could be bought from the company directly from the boat company.
      nice day
      Elizabeth_R, Apr 2024
van gogh museum was nice, 1 hour cruise was nice, extra step to get tickets for cruise was a bit annoying. but in the end it all worked out.
      Fun in Amsterdam
      Russell_B, Apr 2024
Van Gogh Museum is a must see - and the canal tour was more than just a “throw in” - glad we took the early evening tour so we could see the lights coming on !
      Cancelled excursions

Unfortunately when we got to Tge place to book our canal tour, we were told the booking # was but valid so we could not book the canal cruise and they said the Van Gogh reservation did bit show either. Very disappointing as this was booked 6 weeks ahead of time.
      Brilliantly curated.
      Eric_G, Mar 2024
The entire museum is wonderful. I have always loved Van Gogh's work. To see such an extensive collection, including his most famous works, with in-depth explanations and history beside each piece makes my appreciation even richer. Be sure to get your tickets well in advance. You cannot simply arrive and expect to walk in.
      We booked the museum tour...
      Barbara_K, Mar 2024
We booked the museum tour with a 1-hour canal ride after. My daughter and I arrived at the museum and were never able to locate the tour guide. There was no identification of who the guide was. We ended up entering the museum on our own and toured ourselves, which was perfect. Save your money and tour the museum on your own.
      Disjointed
      Greg_L, Mar 2024
The Van Gogh Museum is a definite 5 and the boat was good for what it was in the sense that you go on a large enclosed boat and listen by tape about the history of the city. However, read the fine print to see that you need to separately walk to the boat ticket office to find a time to get on the boat. This completely defeats the purpose of an online booking. Additionally, there is no synergy between the museum and the boat ride. It is ridiculous to put them together if there’s no positive aspect to it. It’s actually a negative.
