What To Expect

Meet the chef at a central Barcelona location, then start with the fresh basics of Spanish cuisine, collecting fresh seafood from the local vendors and producers at La Boqueria, one of Barcelona’s most famous markets.

From the market, continue to a cooking school in El Born district, where you find an open kitchen, bar, and restaurant-style seating. Pour your first glass of sangria for the evening, then start preparing a range of tapas, or pintxos, classic Spanish small plates that are perfectly paired with wine.

With a chef cooking alongside you, start preparing the traditional paella, then as the rice dish simmers on a low flame, you can learn to mix your own sangria at a short drinks-making workshop. When the paella is done, sit down to the meal you’ve prepared, savoring the rich flavor of the rice and seafood (a non-seafood meal option is served by the chef for those who don’t eat seafood).

And if you’re not ready to finish the night, you're invited to a nearby bar, where you’ll be treated to a free "chupito," or shot, and enjoy drink specials throughout the evening.

I highly recommend this event and ask for Andrea as your chef. A great time and unbelievable experience. My 17 year old daughter and I did the experience and it was the best thing we did in Barcelona. Andrea was informative, incredibly nice, very funny and taught us how to make an amazing paella. A must do in Barcelona!

The best cooking class
Marie_C, Apr 2024
We had a fantastic experience with Chef Andre while learning how to make Sangria and Paella. The setting was amazing in a private kitchen and intimate dining with other travelers in the group. If you’re considering this experience you won’t be disappointed. We loved being able to experience Spain this way.
Paella and new friends
Henry_K, Apr 2024
We learned how to make incredible paella and sangria while making new friends. Manny and Daphne were awesome.
Great paella cooking experience.
Noel, Apr 2024
I love the part when we actually in the process of learning how to cook the paella. Everyone in the group participated in the process and asks questions. In the beginning we were strangers from each others and we were friends while cooking and dining, must be the sangria that Kako (the Chef) made! The paella was delicious. I highly recommended this experience.
Paella cooking class is not to be missed!

Making the perfect paella and sharing the sangria with my new friends! We had a wonderful dinner and the market is a really fun place! I’ve never seen fresher fish. Definitely recommend the class!

Kate_P, Apr 2024
Highly recommended cooking class! Our chef Andrea was very good, making the experience light and fun. Everything that we had from the sangria to tapas and of course, paella is A+++ I came solo but my group was lovely which made it even more enjoyable!
Book this cooking class! Veggie/vegan friendly
Rakhee_R, Apr 2024
Chef Kako and Maya created an incredible paella making experience! We were paired with a group of 6 other people, and it was really fun to interact with everyone and make new friends. The experience of making the paella was very interactive, and everyone got to take a role in the kitchen as chef Kako explained the process of how to make a great paella. I don’t eat seafood, and neither did 2 other people in our group so Chef Kako walked us through how to make a vegetarian (that was also vegan!) paella! Walking through the market while being guided to the best ingredients to use was also fantastic. I highly recommend this experience!
Cooking fun

I enjoyed our tour guide Padja and our chef Liz. I had very little experience cooking and they made it fun and easy to learn.
A magical night in Barcelona!
Vincent_L, Apr 2024
This was by far the best tour/experience I have taken so far!! I have been in Barcelona several times….. and finally was able to convince my mom to come and experience this amazing city. I wasn’t sure what to expect with a cooking class, but we were pleasantly surprised that every step of the way! From the moment we arrive we were welcome and made to feel at home! The class was very informative and my mother and I learned a new dish. When our vacation was over, and after looking at all of our photos, and talking about our experiences, we agreed that the cooking class was by far the best!!
Great experience and delicious paella!
Michael_G, Apr 2024

Liz and Pedja made this experience a lot of fun!!! It was easy to do and the paella came out delicious. In highly recommended this. It was easy, fun and an overall great cooking experience.
I would recommend Andreas if your looking for a paella cooking experience.👍🏻
Thomas_S, Apr 2024
Andreas our guide was very informative and spoke good English. There was quite a bit of walking but not too much if you’re reasonably healthy. Making the paella was very interesting and fun. Group helped in the preparation. The end result was very good.
Loved it!
Natalie_H, Apr 2024
Daphne and sally were great! An overall wonderful experience. Informative but also fun and light hearted- great way to meet people and an interactive dinner experience.
Enjoyable
Rachel_G, Apr 2024
There were some great things about this an activity and some things they could do better. The food was delicious and the chef, his helpers were great. I’ve done this type of activity before in Italy and I think they could have spent more time in the market, discussing local foods and the history behind them, sampling unique tasters to the area. Also, the advertisement said tapas were included and they weren’t. So, there really wasn’t enough food for everyone to leave full. I also felt rushed out following our meal because another group was coming in. It was good, my family enjoyed it, but it wasn’t great.
Flavorful paella!
Ashley_J, Apr 2024
This class was fun and included a paella making portion and sangria making. No tapas included. The paella was the best tasting paella we've had on the trip, better than restaurants we've tried in Barcelona!
Super fun way to have a tasty dinner
Matt_A, Apr 2024
We really enjoyed the market shopping tips from Andreas and the demonstration of making “quick” sangria and two types of paella! There was plenty to eat and drink and it was fun to have hands-on involvement in the prep. A great way to have fresh, authentic paella and meet some great people.
Do not pass this up!
Kevin_M, Apr 2024
OMG!!!!! So much fun. Great hosts and chefs. Wonderful attendees. I want to do again! I live in Barcelona and needed an escape from daily life.
Best night in Barcelona!
Pamela_S, Apr 2024
Authentic, entertaining, personable, hands-on! We shopped at the market to pick up our seafood— had time to do some shopping and exploring of our own. Excellent kitchen space. Real culinary instruction and tips. I learned how to clean prawns correctly and feel proficient now. Learned how to clean squid as well. Paella was excellent!! Did I mention the Sangria?! Absolutely wonderful— kept it flowing! Showed us how to make it. Good time— new how to break the ice we all felt very comfortable! We all came away with the recipes and memories of a great time!
