One of the BEST tours we have ever experienced!! Alan was truly superb- knowledgeable, friendly, kind, patient, and funny! We could not have asked for a better start to our Boston trip. We shared fun facts with the rest of the family all weekend- loved it!

Enjoyed our small group , the weather was nice. Our guide was super ! Loved seeing the beautiful gardens. I was thinking we were going to see mire older buildings.
Response from Host, Sep 2023
Glad you enjoyed the tour, but not sure I understand the older buildings comment. We saw and talked about Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, the Custom House Tower, Old State House, Ames Building, Old Corner Bookstore, Winthrop Building, Old South Meeting House, Old City Hall, Kings Chapel, Tremont Temple, Park Street Church and the New State House - and that was just the Freedom Trail portion! Plus we saw a lot more as well.
Freedom trail would probably be informative with right guide.
Lynn_S, Aug 2023
Our tour guide Andrew went off the freedom trail path and was more interested in showing us his family connection such as a road and her grave site. It was more of an architectural tour of building than the freedom trail . Went to three parks not sure why . Also Paul Reece was not even mentioned he said that was overrated. No mention of North Church either.
Response from Host, Aug 2023
The Freedom Trail was created so folks would not get lost trying to see the historic spots. Although it is now a row of bricks, it is not "set in stone" if you know what I mean. In fact, several parts have changed over the years. And good tour guides will "adjust" the route to include things you may not otherwise see. Andrew has some historic family connections too that most people rather enjoy. The tour is, by the way, a history, historic architecture and cultural tour, so, yes, some architecture and its relation to Boston history is included. I am not sure who Paul Reese is, but I suspect you meant Paul Revere. And we certainly talk about him and the Old North Church and the Midnight Ride when we visit his gravesite in the Old Granary Cemetary. We also visit Boston Common and talk about its history as well as the beautiful Public Garden and its creation in relation to Back Bay. Not sure what third park you mean. Hope this clears all this up for you.

Michael_D, Jun 2023
Not very educational. Did not need to see the sushi bar at Walgreens. The tour guide was pleasant but not very informative.
Response from Host, Jun 2023
Walgreens is not an integral part of the tour. Just trying to inject a little humor as we passed by the window with a casual comment. Would hope you heard about the history, architecture and culture of the areas around there instead of focusing on just that.
Average tour
Winnie_W, Jun 2023
I have done Freedom trail tour with another group before and this one by far is not as good. The tour guide was not thorough, explanation was short and not engaging.
Response from Host, Jun 2023
I am sorry you did not enjoy the tour. We did get a lot of positive input from the other attendees that day so I am not sure what the specifics might be for you. Can you please shed some light?
Enjoyable tour
Sarah_C, Jun 2023
Learned a lot of interesting information. It was a great pace. I also enjoyed that the group size wasn’t too large.

Response from Host, Apr 2023
Agree that the history of Boston IS amazing. We share our love for the North End, cannoli and local pubs. Add in interesting architecture too!
Good tour.
Christi_N, Nov 2022
Good tour. Informative and friendly. It was challenging to hear the guide in some spots because of the noise around us. He had great recommendations for a place to get hot chocolate and have lunch after the tour. Would recommend.
Response from Host, Nov 2022
Happy you enjoyed the tour and recommended food places. Next time let the guide know you are having difficulty hearing so he can mitigate that.
Learned so much!
Alex_C, Nov 2022
We started at the State House and immediately I was learning so many things about the history of Boston. The walk was pretty mild and you don't have to get far for a new, good story because, well, Boston. Our guide was SO nice. He was a Boston local and was so sweet! We had lots of questions and he knew the answers to every single one and always had a great joke up his sleeve. Boston has so much really neat history that you would never know unless someone told you, and that's exactly what we wanted this tour to do for us. It delivered!
Response from Host, Nov 2022
So happy you enjoyed the tour and sounds as if you fell in love with Boston! Maybe we'll see more of you....
Awesome tour
Marta_G, Oct 2022
Great tour and very informative.!!!! He spoke a lot about the history of Boston and wen to the historical sites.
Response from Host, Nov 2022
Happy you enjoyed the historic aspects of the tour.
Not the full Freedom Trail = Disappointment
Kayla_B, Oct 2022
This tour doesn’t include the full freedom trail. It covered a lot of architecture which I wasn’t very interested in. Also, you get pointed to look in directions of potential photo opportunities however if you break away to take some you could potentially lose the group. For me, this wasn’t the best option, and I wouldn’t take this tour again. Though others in the group enjoyed it.
Response from Host, Nov 2022
I am sorry you felt disappointed, but we never say this tour covers the Whole Freedom Trail. We specifically say the Downtown portion from Faneuil Hall to Boston Common and the State House, which covers 11 of the 16 total Freedom Trail sites plus a whole lot more, including architecture (as you noted). There is of course opportunity for pictures during the tour, but not if you "break away" as you say.
Be read for a walk!
Kalli_R, Oct 2022
My favorite part was the cemetery, a few famous people in history are buried there. I also enjoyed seeing the end of the Boston Marathon & hearing historical stories from our guide
Response from Host, Oct 2022
The Granary Cemetery is certainly one of Boston's Highlights. Happy you enjoyed the stories and our "running" of the Boston Marathon.
